Buck Trent is so under rated it's pitiful. The guy is a ground breaking genius! He makes the banjo into a new and totally unique and very, very cool sounding instrument. By rights, he should have hundreds of imitators by now.
Buck Trent with Superlatives, Gary and Connie well folks........this cannot ever, ever get any better. Buck still awesome. One of the amazing original "WagonMasters" with Porter. Thx for this vid and all the others
Many years ago, I worked for a country station in Trenton NJ, of all places, and Buck came out and performed for us several times. Of all the artists I've gotten to work with in that time and since, he was by far, hands down, the nicest guy you can imagine. You won't hear men call other men "sweet" very often, but Buck Trent was just a sweet guy. Loved everybody and was genuinely happy to be there. I'm very happy to see he's still going strong.
One of my favorites when I first saw you perform at that big Amusement Park in California.....I was with my Pops and Mom so that probably pretty well dates me, but my Pops was also one of your biggest promoters and now I am 33 yrs. old and still love your voice and music..........
I love to hear Connie Smith sing that song, just as i am which is the second song on this show. And the Fabulous Buck Trent pickin' that electric banjo !! Awesome!!!
Marty Stuart TV show was one of the best country shows ever. Only Hee Haw was better. Marty's show should not be cancelled by RFD. Big loss to country fans. mos60
I got to tell you, everyone, everywhere, We need music like this for everyone. Some have soaked their brains in the music of today, where every artist seems to out do the others in how many curse, vulgar, and downgrading word that they can make up, and some should not even be thought of in a barn, let alone put out on the airwaves for some one to listen to. When is someone gonna start listening to the music like it was... Don't get me wrong, I love the music of yesteryear, and the old rock that meant so much to the teen age mind back then., but we need people to bring that music to life again. If you enjoyed this show, please, leave a good comment, and give someone a smile today. God Bless You all !!
wow ! love it. Buck is from a town close to me spartanburg SC. Wow thats awesome I cant even pick that fast. and I love Marty's music and clothing style Connie's too. Connie is just soulful.
"Just The Way I Am" great Dallas Fraser song. wow this Connie version is simply tooooooooo much. Buck on the amazing banjo breaks. Nashville finally wake up. This is the way to do it. Forget the new country stuff
Lester Anderson, Welcome to the Southern Hemisphere of Auckland New Zealand,, What a great line up of players, It sounds like the Banjo guy :Buck Trent" has tuned up to a guitar plus guitar strings on his Banjo, great player great sound
Kenny,Buck and Marty,a killer combination,I remember Buck from the Porter Wagoner show as well as Mac the little dancing fiddler,my dad used to get a kick out of watching him play.
My DVR records EVERY episode of The Marty Stuart Show. RFD TV - Verizon DC Area Channel 247. Saturdays at 8 PM, tonight's guest is Jim Glasser. Repeat, but they are all great shows, worth watching a second time, and required reading for any musician and songwriter out there.
Mr Buck Trent's playing never ceases to take my breath away! so much talent, he seems to do stuff with a 5 string that in all honesty appear impossible to me, I mean just how do you get that good!! I so wish we had regular TV show like this in the UK again, they showed the Porter Wagoner show and the Wilburn brothers several years back then just stopped. Country music appears to all but banned over here for some strange reason, instead we're force fed a never ending diet of endless less than mediocre nauseating X factor plastic manufactured teenage wannabe pop industry lookalikes. On the rare occasion I come across the programme whilst rapidly changing channels, most are so appalling alike it simply beggars belief!!
At 09:20 if you watch closely, when Marty pushes his guitar down, if you look very closely at where the strap attaches to the top of the body of the guitar, it pushes down on a "B-Bender" bar in the back of the guitar (you can't see it from front) originally created by guitarist for The Byrds, Clarence White and his father, and Gene Parsons. That guitar Marty is playing is Clarence's guitar, and is called "Hummingbyrd" in honor of Clarence. When Marty pushes down, it bends the string and makes it sound like a pedal steel guitar. Clarence's guitar also has pegs on the neck where he can also bend strings up there too. One of the most Amazing Guitars of All Time. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B-Bender
I believe the guitar is called "Clarence", and that "Hummingbyrd" is the name of one of Marty's songs. www.google.com/amp/s/guitar.com/features/interview-marty-stuart-country-strong/%3famp
i did a show with buck and roy clark in hershey,pa. we had a ball but buck chipped a tooth wasn't to pleasant for him...they were a ball to work with...frankie dee ( an old dj)
I remember watching him and Roy playing banjos together clear back in the mid-70's. I don't remember exactly what they played but I remember thinking "Dang, this guy is great!". He didn't just hang in there with the great Roy Clark, he flat out shredded!

Hey Lester, RFD isn't available in my area. Thanks for posting these.
So friggin good😎
God that Blue Train solo was amazing.
Buck Trent is second only to Earl as banjo picker. I've heard many pickers on CZcams but Buck certainly surpasses all. Very interesting technique

PERHAPS THE GREATEST BANJO PLAYER EVER.

RIP Buck
Why did it take you so long to get this show you’re great and we love Book Trent
Hey hey buck Trent
Buck just recently passed away. It"s a pitty that few took after his style.
I think Buck was about to twist those Scrugg Tuners right offa that electric thing ...
Cut out Leroy Troy’s insufferable catterwallin’ and you have the perfect show.
