  • After a two year hiatus, Matt breaks out the variable rate sprayer with optical sensors to deal with some pigweed issues in the cotton. This is a chance for Andy to see how weeds were controlled back in the day! Matt shows what letting one pigweed go to seed will do the next year. The corn maze is created.

Why the University of Tennessee hasn't enlisted Matt as a speaker for them is beyond me. Matt, you do a great job of speaking in a way that both experienced farmers and casual listeners can understand what you're saying. Wake up UT, make this opportunity work!!!

I still think Matt, Dr Tyson Raper and Adam Chappell should do a round table at Farm and Gin Show or No Till on the Plains just one time.

I spent many summers in my youth on a spray board/spot sprayer, seeing this brings back a lot of good memories.

1971. I was 10 years old. We had a bush hog.
We rode on the back of it on seats that you would use on a fishing boat
    Spray just like your spray
The next year went and got a big board that went in a bridge
Put it on front of the tractor where the tractor weights are
Put four car seats on it spaced out
    We called the spray board
Years later, we also used a front end loader, and we used a planter bar that the wings would fold up and down to go down the highway

Reminds me of the old wick bars you would fill wit Roundup and wipe the Johnson Grass and turn around the same rows and wipe the opposite way. Mounted on a 4430 and covered 8 rows. we also used Farm All M's with a PTO pump with a wand and 100 gallon tank.

Daddy had 2 tractors set up in the late 80s and 90s. A 5088 with s and n barrels and a 5488 same way . Both had bolt up rack to the tank racks . 3 seats per tractor. And a wick bar on a third. We took about 10 rows. Did a whole lot a Fusilade on johnsongrass

Man, I would have enjoyed spraying weeds like that when I was a kid! I've done plenty with a back mounted spraying rig, that's not so much fun. Good Video Matt, enjoyed.
