  • Sulphate of Potash (SOP) is frequently used as an important fertilizer in field crop production throughout the world. Canal irrigated area soils of Punjab have fairly good amount of available potash but intensive cropping pattern needs its supplementary use for better growth, resistance against pests, lodging and maximum production. Several types of SOP fertilizer are being marketed but farmers do not have comparative knowledge of these products. In this video, we have highlighted major difference between more soluble 25 kg and relatively less soluble 50 kg products of SOP. We have explained that there is not only difference of solubility but their preparation methods, variation in their refinedness, difference of availability to wheat/crops and their time of application are also different. Soluble SOP is more readily available than most forms of 50 kg SOP.
