Curt Cargo Carrier and Cargo Bag

  • I invested in a Curt brand cargo carrier for the camper and the truck and wanted to share. I also bought a nice cargo bag designed to fit this size cargo rack that is designed to keep rain out of your luggage and gear. This will be a useful setup for road trips and give us some more room for stuff. I thought that sharing this might help some others out.

Its really great to see you jazzed up and excited about things other than work. Those cantilevered carriers have always given me the spooks all that vibration and torque hanging way out in mid air. No doubt your camper hitch will never fail.
Good for you man. Great to see you enjoying life. Its too short. Your making the right moves.

Only time I get concerned is when I see something like mobility scooters or even motorcycles hanging off the hitch, but obviously they do the job. The bulk of what I showed looks heavy but it won’t be that much, mostly suit case stuff and the occasional swap meet find. Anything heavy can go in the bed of the truck. I’ll have a crate filling up most of the space on our next trip so this is a welcomed addition.

@@AbomAdventures absolutely hence my "abom hitch never fail". Your smart enough to not overload the thing. It's still amazing how much those things can take with all that cantilevered leverage.

I have the same Curt carrier, but I opted for the folding version. I love it for my Dodge Journey SUV. I use it for camping mostly, but it's also nice carrying trash cans to the dump center. I have a square Coleman 56 quart cooler and it fits exactly inside the rails, withing mm. I love mine. I may have to get the bag. I like seeing that.

Just a thought. When testing these hitch racks, you dont want to stand where you did (thats too easy) You want to jump on each side and rock it to see how sloppy the fitment is. Just what i would've liked to see, since i have some experience with these things (built and bought several with my grandpa for front and back of '88 southwind) and havent found one you could buy that didnt rock loudly while i drove through the sierras. Just some friendly advise Adam. Be sure to transfer your plate from the truck to your carrier and be careful on how much weight you put on the camper rear bumper, I have had to repair a few because the stock bumpers are thin and have only light welds holding them on and some cant hold the extra weight. Great videos and keep them coming. Happy Camping. Mark from Michigan.

David, the laws of doing this are very muddy. There's too many circumstances out there to just say "you must...." Do you tell that same line to everyone carrying a bunch of bicycles on the back of their car? I see them all the time and the tags are blocked. Some States don't require small equipment trailers to have tags, but yet they are blocking the truck tag.
