    Is it me, or is aiptasia also evolving to be resistant to F aiptasia? My friend used to remove aiptasia with it and it kept coming back so he used nudibranchs.

  • @NoelG-IRE

    The real solution is to not put Aiptasia in your tank. 8 years now and I’ve not had a single one make it into my system. Removing frag plugs and Quarantine FTW

    • @TopShelfAquatics
      @TopShelfAquatics  Před měsícem

      Rigorous quarantine is the best way to go, but obviously not everyone has the space and that option. I do agree with you though on QT being essential to help mitigate the possibility of pests entering your system!

      @@TopShelfAquatics if space is an issue, a good dip, remove frag plug and keep them on a frag tray in the display. Don’t put them near sand or rocks until you are certain they are clean. I’ve seen Aiptasia appear on frags nearly a month into QTN, so I typically give it 6 weeks as a minimum.
      The way I see it, you only need 1 for it to get out of control and I’ve seen people quit the hobby because they couldn’t control them and they started killing coral which in turn caused their tanks to crash.
      6 weeks is a short price to pay to avoid a lifetime of frustration.

    Everytime I get the nudibranches they just disappear

    Good video, but also you should mention (unless I missed it), do not add Berghia if you have peppermint shrimp or other way around. Peppermint shrimp most likely will eat your Berghia. That is what happened to me.

  • @MarkStover-we3yk
    @MarkStover-we3yk Před měsícem

    What do they eat after getting rid of the aptasia? I would hate to use them then have them starve to death.

    • @TopShelfAquatics
      @TopShelfAquatics  Před měsícem

      You could always do your best to collect as much of the colony that develops and trade it back in to the LFS or find another local reefer battling this same issue! They have fairly short lifespans regardless though.

      Wrasses may take them up as a snack this is correct! Good point to be added!
