As a general rule, I don’t watch videos of SU demonstrators because I find there’s just too much selling product and not promoting creativity. I found this refreshingly different! Thank you for sharing.
Hi Cindy, Thank you for your sweet compliment! My passion is to help people learn paper crafting. I also want my videos to meet a need for the viewer and be fun to watch. I like to shop, however, I don't want to be sold to, I figure most people feel the same. I hope you'll watch more videos and visit again soon! ❤
my crafty friends and I call that "masterboard" technique for gluing scraps to another piece of paper and cutting it up for cards, tags, and other embellishments. loved your cards!
After completing the collage and trimming into card mats, run each one through an embossing folder to give it agreat look.
DCN, great option...that would look like a gorgeous quilt!
I will try this. Sounds fab!
I’ve been doing this for years, but I also use the tiniest pieces that most people throw away. I usually make mine on A2 size paper and then run them through an embossing folder. They turn out BEAUTIFUL!!! One thing I did learn though, was to use the light weight papers that come in the mail, or other computer type paper as a base. I’ve always used my card stock. GREAT TIP!!! TYFS your BEAUTIFUL creations!!! I enjoyed your video!!! 💕🇺🇸💕
Love your idea about putting your scrappy papers through an embossing folder! I'm doing this!❤
Another good non-stick surface to use is palette paper. I enjoy painting watercolors and I have a pad of palette papers. Each sheet can be torn off of the pad. Even a large scrap of vinyl can be used if a silicone sheet is not available and the crafter doesn't want to purchase one. Lovely video tute. TFS!
I love how you showed us with plain paper., because sometimes the card stock and scraps are to heavy together.
Hi Janet! Yes!!!! The sometimes the card stock and scraps can be too thick, especially if we add a bow or bling. I'm posting a new scrap video today...I hope you'll watch my channel again
Love your idea! I love patterned papers and am such a pack rat with my scraps - well now I know what I need to do with them! Thanks for the inspiration!❤
It will be hard to choose which side to use when you like both sides of a piece of DSP scrap. I love this video. Great tip. Best one yet.
Dawn, yes it is hard to choose which side of the Designer Series Paper scrap to use. Thanks for watching!!!!
Of all the videos I've watched to use up scraps, this is the one that got me enthused. I love working with colors and patterns and discovering ways to make my projects unique. And this looks relaxing and fun. Thanks! You just gained another new subscriber. Don't know if it will work, but I'm going to try this technique for gift tag background.
Hi Nancy! You are right, this is very, very, relaxing to do. I think this will work for gift tags, it'll just be a smaller version. The comment from DCN suggests using an embossing folder after all your scraps are glued into place. This idea looks soooooooooooooo pretty, try it and see how you like it! We have a very smart & creative community here. Thank you for subscribing and welcome! 🥰
New subscriber…love your enthusiasm and clearly explaining the process! Looking forward to your next 11 videos on using scraps!
Hi Ruth! Thank you for Subscribing. Welcome! I hope you enjoy the next video series. I’m working on a masculine card series now. 👍
Very pretty masterboards! My favorites of yours are the ones with the darker colors. I'm not always a random person so cut all scraps into rectangles before gluing. If they're lighter colors I may ink the edges so they stand out.
Hi Elsie, when I read your comment I was making cards and literally inking the edges of a Die-cut label. It’s a great way to add depth to lighter colors! 👏❤️
Great idea! Never thought to make a collage of my scraps but how fun! Thanks for sharing!
Hi Debbie! I hope you will be trying this with your scraps too. :)
@@DDcreatescrafts I will be this Sunday when my girlfriend comes to craft with me. We get together once a month to try new things and this is perfect! I have lots of scraps because I can’t bring myself to throw away even the smallest piece that “might” work on a future card! Haha. I’ll send pics once we get our paper made. Thanks again for a great video.
Debbie!!!!!!! This makes my heart happy! Will you tell your friend about DDcreates crafts videos for me? My Bestie moved out of state and she and I craft on Zoom at least once a week. Crafting with a friend or friends is so much more fun. Enjoy Sunday, and I will look forward to seeing pics of your projects! Hugs
Wow, this is a fantastic idea to use up those scraps - and to have a beautiful end result!! Love this, thank you!!
Hi Ellen! Happy you like this idea!!!!!

First time I 've ever seen anything like this; just seen strips and such. Thank you for the tips! Most helpful, and something that I will try!!
Hi Judy! Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is an entire playlist dedicated to scrap paper, be sure to binge watch those videos. This week is my virtual craft fair, a new video every day. I hope you will consider subscribing so you can find me again. 🙏😄
It's interesting to me to see how different people apply glue. Your style is new/cool (make diagonals then scribble inside), I tend to draw a border then make a diagonal inside it, and I've seen some people exclusively scribble the glue working from one side to the other. Anyway, thanks for the scrap-busting share!
Cool!!! Thank you for this great idea!!
I love making backgrounds, and this idea is genius!
I’d love to see your creation using this idea! Feel free to share on my Facebook page: facebook.com/ddcreatescrafts

Could you tell us you’re going to move the camera before you swirl it around. Not good for us that have motion sickness. Just say if you get motion sickness close your eyes and I’ll tell you when the camera is moved. Other you tubers say it and it’s very much appreciated. Love your tips for today!! Thanks
Vicky, I so apologize! Thank you for bringing this to my attention! I appreciate your feedback.
I got more dizzy because of the camera shaking😂but nice idea, thank you
Great idea. Thank you. I have heaps of scraps. I make mostly tags and this will be awesome for that. I tend not to like straight lines so I'll likely grunge up the edges or tear them first. I really like your dark cards❤😂

Awesome 😃👍
Hi Julie, thank you for watching! 🥰
I save even the small pieces as can also be used I use some scraps and my single hole punch to make like confetti for shaker cards xx

Hi Julie, thank you for watching this scrap paper solution video. You may enjoy the entire scrappaper playlist &/or my new series about how to use up piles of pattern paper.
Thank you for sharing how to use are scraps
Hi Belinda! Of course!
I adore pattern paper and especially ordering pattern paper, sooooooo I needed ways to use up scrap paper so I can order more 🤣👏❤️
Nice backgrounds! I've been throwing out these sized patterned papers, but not any more. They'll join the strips & become some thing great. TFS!
Hi Lyse, awesome! Happy you found this video! It’s a great way to use up scraps plus its fast and simple!! Feel free to share any cards you make on DDcreates crafts Facebook page 👍🤗
Love it 🥰 this technique....
Abhilasha, thank you! I appreciate you watching this video 💖
I don't do random very well myself but I sure love the results from what you have shown!
VBoddicker, the random thing is so "random" I adore this technique, it is fun, however, I do love me some old fashion instructions. Thank you for watching! There are more scrap paper videos for you to enjoy
Something I catch myself doing is taking the least visible color from my shirt/dress etc and choosing jewelry in that color. Like bringing out the underdog of the outfit 🤷 not sure why but it tickles me to do that! I think that process works for paper craft too, picking the borders from whatever color is least present in the new design you just made!
Just found your channel👍🏻😊 loved the tips and may I add your hair is very pretty🥰
Hi Mona, I'm so happy you found my channel too! Thank you for watching this video. A similar Playlist I believe you will enjoy, 🤗is called "Scrap Paper Ideas" Thank you for your sweet compliment!
This is such a cool idea! I've heard/seen other crafters recommend die cutting or punching different shapes from scraps & keeping them for future use, which I have tried. But then I rarely pull out my boxes of die cut/punched shapes that I did! Plus, I always think, what if I need a pink butterfly & all I have are yellow? Then I have to find a pink scrap & cut a butterfly from it, & still have all the yellow ones. LOL I will definitely give your method a try. I also have lots of scrap copy paper that I can use for backings. Scraps on scrap - win-win! Thanks for sharing. Take care, & have an awesome day! :)
Hi Andrea!! Your comment makes my heart sing! I'm so happy you like and will use this scrap-paper tip. I adore using what we already have then getting our craft area cleaned out and cleaned up as a result of using up our crafty goodies. Yay! I hope you have already subscribed so you can find me again 🙏🤞💝 Have a crafty day! hugs, Dawn
This is called a masterboard in the junk journal Community
asddsa28, thank YOU! I appreciate you telling me...I'm fascinated by junk journals. I'm working on ideas to demonstrate simple card/journals, anyway, playing with that idea. 🥰
I just sorted my DSP. Thanks for a great idea on using the small pieces which of course I could not throw away :)
Sharon, love that you sorted your DSP, did you sort into colors? I tend to do that is why I ask. 🙂 More scrap paper videos under the Playlist "Clean out those scraps" all for small pieces of paper
@@DDcreatescrafts I find it hard to sort DSP by color. What criteria do you use?
@@sharonlbrown6756 do you mean how to coordinate the colors of different DSP? Or how to organize them? This video called "How to know which pattern paper will go together" talks about how to coordinate. After my scrap paper series I'm going to do an organization video
Yesterday, I watched this technique on another video, and she embossed it after to give it more dimension..
Hi Judy, yes, yes, embossing after is a wonderful option! Try it either way to find your favorite. Thank YOU for watching
Love your technique, I am trying to use up my scraps in any way I can and have no reason to cut into a fresh piece of paper until my scraps are used up.

This is like what is called Frankenpaper. Fun to make even if you rip the papers
Karen, I literally laughed out loud at Frankenpaper! The perfect name for this scrap paper tip 👍🤣❤️
Thank you for watching! Yes ma’am, we can cut or rip our scrap pieces 👏
This reminds me of Crumb Quilting somewhat.
Thank you for watching! Feel free to follow me on DDcreates crafts Facebook page: facebook.com/ddcreatescrafts
what type of glue are you using? I have alot of trouble trying to glue small pcs. I use double sided tape, dots, and or a glue stick.
Hi Mary, my go-to glue is Tombow multipurpose glue. I'm an ind. Stampin Up Demonstrator so the only craft supplies I use are those I order from Stampin Up. DawnDavis1.stampinup.net
Pretty cards, love your ideas! TFS 😊

How do you organize your scrapes

Nice cards but I was waiting to see how you put the two card fronts you’d made into cards.

Click on "My Projects" then scroll til you see the pic of this card. 🙂 I hope this helps! Contact me with any questions about the PDF/directions, I want you to be able to make this technique/card.
While you were piecing them together it looked very similar to a quilt.
Leslie!!!!! I thought so too! 😉 ❤️
Do you quilt and paper craft?
@@DDcreatescrafts quilted a purse in a one time quilting class years ago but never got back to it so might need another class. But yes I live and breath paper crafting. Always have had love for paper. But I’m also a multi crafter. If it’s craft I want to learn it. Lol
