In this submition, you've forgotten to mention Hakuna Matata in Ntinda. That was the next venue Karaoke went to after Sabrina's. Then came DV8.
The setting for Sabrina in the beginning was, The Main Bar, (upstairs) was gazetted for affluent and well heeled. "Old money" types.
The courtyard was general happiness. However, tables turned when the Courtyard had more vibe than up the stairs. I know how? Was there from day one. The Opening night. Even when chaps migrated to other springing watering holes, we the kasangwawo remained loyal.
Mpozzi nekilala, the first people to perform karaoke at Sab's like we famously called it, were not necessary in the music industry or performers at that. Everyone had a go as long as you showed interest. When word got around, that's when the Upcoming, music related industry buffs came in to try their luck. Many a people's tslents were discovered on that platform. Otherwise, thanks for the walk down memory lane.
