      @@fairyfellerr2322 my fish didn't like peas so I gave lettuce and it worked. I also gave brined shrimp as my fish preferred non veg initially. My fish is all better now and can swim fast. I also got a cleaner on aquarium that removed fungus recommended by the pet store owner. I think that helped too.

    Put plants in the tank, they will use the nitrates (break down the poo just like a garden) to grow. I have hundreds (Yes hundreds) of guppies in a 1mtr long tank that is extremely heavily planted with Vallis and my nitrate levels are always below 1.

    • @TobiasHolenstein
      @TobiasHolenstein  Před 4 lety +7

      I don't keep any fish in that tank anymore, but I also have a 15 gallon tank, that is pretty heavily planted now with Java Fern and Anubis (slow growing and I don't run CO2 so they didn't really help with the nitrate levels) it became quite overstocked from the guppies breeding so much and I unfortunately ended up with high nitrates all the time, even after a water change. long story short, I ended up over cleaning the tank and crashed the cycle. I'm posting a video about it on Friday, in case you are interested.
      Your guppy tank sounds great though. I don't know much about Vallis, but I bet it is faster growing and really helps with the nitrate levels. Below 1 is great!

    I'm hoping this will help my angel fish. He was doing great until I changed him into a larger tank. I think I made the mistake of adding a bit too much algae killer. Because he was doing great day one n two. But day three he was in his side. I took out water and replaced it. Added an air stone Thinking maybe he had too little oxygen. That seemed to help a little. Now I'm hoping this will solve the rest of the problem. He's not bloated at all or anything else looks wrong. Just the swimming on his side. He was just getting big too. He was really tiny when I bought him.

    There are no preservatives in canned vegetables. The appertization process alone is preservative enough. Ingredients added to the original vegetables include salt, water, and sometimes seasonings (or a little sugar for steamed peas, as required by law).17 Oct 2016

      Hi, sorry to hear about your fish! Have you been able to test your water parameters? If you haven't I would recommend doing that, preferably with a liquid test kit like the API Master Test Kit. @TobiasHolenstein  Před 4 lety +2

      @@fairyfellerr2322 No problem! Btw, what kind of fish do you have? I would say it's necessary. Unfortunately a lot of people who work at pet stores might not always know about keeping fish. The reason it is necessary to test your parameters is because if your fish is sick, like it is now, you need to know why is is sick in order to treat it. If you can get the API Master Test Kit in Wales I would recommend that, if you can't, maybe there is another brand that your local pet shop carries

    • @TobiasHolenstein
      @TobiasHolenstein  Před 4 lety +1

      @@fairyfellerr2322 No problem! I'm happy to help. Btw how big are your fish at this point? Your tank is very small for those 2 fish, so I am guessing it is quite possible that you have a water quality issue. If you test your water there is a good chance that you will have an ammonia or nitrite reading because of the amount of waste these types of fish produce. When they are fully grown those 2 fish will require at least 151 litres. The tank I show in this video was only 37 litres, but it was just a temporary setup. Also it is quite uncommon for regular long bodied goldfish like yours to have swim bladder problems. It is mostly common with fancy goldfish with the shorter bodies. So I'm guess that feeding peas most likely will not solve the issue

      Hi Joanna, I'm sorry to hear that. Have you checked your water parameters? It may be swim bladder disease. I would suggest not feeding your fish for 2 or 3 days. Sometimes swim bladder disease is caused by constipation, which is why I would suggest not feeding him for a couple days

      Hi, I'm sorry to hear that. I would start by checking your tanks water parameters. You can post your results here so I can take a look if you like. If your parameters come back good, he could be constipated and you could try feeding him a few peas like I did in this video
