With the song they want to make a statement against homophobia. At a concert in Poland, drummer Christoph Schneider waved a rainbow flag. And on the stadium tour last year, the two guitarists kissed during the song "AUSLÄNDER". They advocate for all sorts of things, which is why they are usually attacked in the media.

The song is basically about the experience of being gay and dealing with misunderstanding of sexuality and homophobic attacks . None of Rammstein ( Ramming stone) are gay but they are all supportive of the LGBTQ community. They defied either the Russian or Polish government who warned them that if the two guitarists missed on stage then they'd no longer be welcome in that country. They regularly fly the Pride flags prior to performing Auslander as well. Rammstein will write songs about many subjects that make people feel uncomfortable and that's why they get a lot of hostility towards them. Rammstein hold a mirror up to society is basically what I'm trying to say and often, society doesn't like what it sees.

As I understand it, it's about whole experience of being gay and being insulted, feared and misunderstood is huge part of it.
It's also a provocation thay are going for. Bringing out tabus people fear the most and touthfully shuving tham into your face is what Rammstein dos.
Thay are still punks for shure :D

The funny thing is that especially Russians love the song because it is so hard. But they did not understand the lyrics and many of them are pretty homophobic. Was a shock for many.

Of course f****t is a swear word. They wanted to point that out, that society treats homosexuals badly. That's what the whole lyrics are about. It's from the perspective of a homosexual who get's shamed for his sexuality. It's a song about homophobia. No, the band members aren't gay. But that's not the point. You're missing that they are portraying an issue, they are not downplaying homosexuals.

Also note that this song is from 2005 and not recent. Rammstein lyrics are never simple, as one put it, all Rammstein songs are a riddle you have to solve. Many lines dont make a whole lot of sense in your first listen when you dont understand the whole context. You really have to sit down and think about each line and what they mean. Lines like "I am the corner of all rooms, I am the shadow of all trees". You get it when you think about it but when you watch the video for the first time with the lyrics, its probably too much to get it all. Those two lines basically means that you regularly come across gay men, you just dont know it, A shadow of a tree or a corner of a room is also a very neutral description, it doesnt harm anybody and you clearly dont have any issues with them when you dont know that theyre gay which is the hypocrisy of men who dislike gay men for whatever reason. So if you treat them in a normal way when you dont know theyre gay, you should treat them the same way when you do know theyre gay.
Rammstein videos are very direct, in your face, provocative, for some it can be too much to handle. Him shouting the "f-word" describes the thought of a man who dislikes gay men and comes across one. he may not literally shout that at the gay man but internally he will be.

they don't actually say the f-word. they say "schwule" translates literally to "gays". The f-word in german would be something like "faggot" or "schwuchtel". The translator clarigied on some other reaction that he choose to translate it into the f-word bc it was said in an agressive manner and he wanted to highlight

they don't say the f-word, it's the translators choice (he clarified it in another rection). They just say "gays" but since it's said in an agressive manner he choose to translate it in that way. the f-word doesn't really exist in german (although there is a music instument that sounds like it)

No official confirmation, but I heard that Flake (the keyboard player) used to have a podcast and said in it that he suspected one or more of the others were bisexual.

The lead singer Till Lindenmann has released the song Ladyboy in his solo project Lindemann. The song is worth a listen.

    Thanks for the reaction ❤
Let's talk about pronunciation though: it's RAMM (as in hum, not ram) STEIN (like shine with a t, not s or as in skein).

Hello. It's a song about how it is to be gay for a man and what they experience.
The f*** word is an insult over here as well. When you read the lyrics again, you'll see that at that point they are written in the 3rd person perspective. What they are being called. Till does that a lot in the 3rd verse of the lyrics, change the perspective. Much of the text is common insinuations to describe that someone is gay. Nowadays, homosexuality is no longer an issue here, when the song was written it still was a little more.
    With love from Germany ❤🤘🏻

Rammstein can make songs about any possible topic. Cannibalism, depression, death, time, child abuse or homophobia. The song Zick Zack is more on the funnier side but it still has more layers than that.

Ok I subs, I am an old french metal fan, I know RAMMSTEIN very well (I am living near the german border), but ok, please dont talk about Ozzy Osbourn to compare with RAMMSTEIN and Till Lindemann's singing (or vibs) ... Nothing to to do with each other ... Till is so much greater in what he is doing ...
So now, at the moment I am writing this, Rammstein had stopped to be a band ... You have to check out what Till is doing now (for ex "Ich hasse Kinder"), that's the true (in a good way) what Till Lindemann is , a great artist !!! (check with the name Till Lindemann, not Rammstein).
    Salut !!!

    🏳️‍🌈 Mann Against Mann 👨‍❤️‍👨
    Fate has smiled at me
    And gave me a gift
Threw me on a warm star
So close to the skin, so far from the eye
I take my fate into my hands
    My desire is manned
    Where the sweet water dies
Because it spoils in the salt
I carry the little prince in mind
    A king without a queen
When a woman gets lost in me
Then the bright world is confused
Man against man, my skin belongs to the gentlemen
Man against man, equal and equal likes to join
Man against man, I am the servant of two gentlemen
Man against man, equal and equal likes to join
I am the corner of all rooms
I am the shadow of all the trees
In my chain no link is missing
When the lust pulls from behind
    My gender scolds me traitor
I’m the nightmare of all fathers
Man against man, my skin belongs to the gentlemen
Man against man, equal and equal likes to join
Man against man, but my heart freezes on some days
Man against man, cold tongues beating there
    Cold tongues that beat there
    gay, ah, gay, ah
    I’m not interested in balance
The sun shines in my face
But my heart freezes on some days
    Cold tongues that beat there
    gay, man against man
    gay, man against man
    gay, man against man
gay, man against man against man
