  • Duivenvoorde Castle, also known as Kasteel Duivenvoorde, is a castle located in the town of Voorschoten, South Holland, in the Netherlands.
    It dates back to the early 13th century, making it one of the oldest castles in Zuid-Holland.
    The castle is remarkable for several reasons:
    - It has never been sold, which is uncommon among Dutch castles.
    - It has passed through inheritance through several noble houses, sometimes through the matrilineal line.
    - The castle was initially owned by the Van Duivenvoordes, who were part of the House of Wassenaer, an ancient noble family that played an important role in Dutch history.
    Duivenvoorde Castle has been open to the public since 2003, and it offers guided tours from April until October.
    The rooms are decorated as if the castle is still inhabited, giving visitors the impression of walking through a historical residence.
    The castle is surrounded by a beautiful park that offers some nice walking paths.
