    After I saw some of comments I’m wondering you talking about morals as if you live in Utopia!!
    We in Saudi Arabia not in Utopia too
    BUT
    We don't abbanding our old people away in the nursing homes
    We do not expel our children from our homes if they exceed the legal age
    We do not teach homosexuality in children's schools
    We do not let our daughters, sisters and mothers become prostitutes so that they do not die of hunger
    We in Saudi Arabia are a close-knit society that sanctifies family, friends, and neighbors, and we also sanctify life. Therefore, we have a strict judicial system, and we are one of the least countries in the world in committing crimes.
    Schools are for free
    Universities are for free
    Hospitals and medical cares are for free
    And for those who pay lip service to the war in Yemen, let him look at your wars at all times and places
    Saudi Arabia entered the war in Yemen to protect itself from Iranian militias on its borders,
    But you
    Why did you make a war in Iraq? How many did you kill there and why?
    I will not talk about what you did before that dates because a generation has passed and I am here talking to a new generation that is being brainwashed by its fake media with satanic agendas.
    And please don’t talk about democracy which is all about who have more money he will rule the game from behind the scenes BECAUSE IT IS NOT UTOPIA NOT EVEN CLOSE
    By the way I’m a big big big fan of NUFC and a big supporter in the UCL😘

    Our commercial income was handicapped because he gave a lot of advertising away to his main business for free

    As a Newcastle fan, I have to say this is one of the best if not the best video I have seen that deals with the NUFC + Sauid Arabia issue. The point was well made. people who support Newcastle and have supported Newcastle for years, 40+ in my case, will not suddenly stop supporting the club. Does that mean that I turn a blind eye to what is happening in Saudi Arabia, not at all?
    The problem for me, and I don't think I'm taking it personally is twofold. Firstly we are by no means the first English club to have morally questionable owners. We're not even the first club to have owners from Saudi Arabia. It is 20 years now since Abramovich took over Chelsea and unleashed spending as we had never seen before. His business dealings in Russia are questionable, he has maintained a very close relationship with and supported the man who is still trying to ignite WWIII and we're talking about a club owner here who was denied a UK Visa. Following on we have City in 2008. Whilst City is not legally owned by the state of Abu Dhabi but Mansour is the deputy prime minister, and the country’s human rights record is regularly criticised by Amnesty International. The organisation’s most recent report found that the United Arab Emirates, of which Abu Dhabi is the capital, restricts freedom of expression (via the imprisonment of peaceful government critics), conducts unfair trials and arbitrarily detains citizens after completing prison sentences. Amnesty also highlighted that “women remained unequal with men under Emirati law”. Both clubs have been accused of breaking FFP rules, yet it is Newcastle who are constantly in the spotlight when the question of club morality is discussed.
    The next issue is just how much we interact with and support any number of questionable regimes every day. The PIF spent £300m to buy NUFC but has purchased Facebook shares worth over £500m. They have also held or continue to hold shares in Disney, Marriot hotels, Boeing, Uber, etc. I worked for BAE for a decade, a company that had business with Saudi Arabia and many countries in the middle east. I know we can't check the morality of every penny we spend, or how our employers made their money but you'd be surprised if you looked behind the curtain.
    I'd have loved Newcastle to have won the PL in 96, with local Chairman Sir John Hall running the club, like Jack Walker at Blackburn in 95'. But that ship has sailed and it did so when people turned a blind eye to who was able to purchase our clubs.

    • @jack28aug
      @jack28aug Před rokem +6

      So ur well versed then, if u worked for BAE Systems u will have heard the criticism of them, just like u've heard the criticism for every other issue you've pointed out, so y did u think NUFC would just get a free pass? Nobody is singling nufc out, it's just the thing that happened most recently is usually loudest. Like City's 100+ ffp rule breaks.

    • @BoldonBigLad
      @BoldonBigLad Před rokem +1

      @@jack28aug yes indeed I've heard the criticism of both BAE and various governments for selling arms to nations such as Saudi Arabia. But I'm struggling to try and recall the last time it was raised by the media. As you say perhaps NUFC is front and centre ATM. I don't recall the clubs having such scrutiny in the past.

Plus the fact most people who do want "change" only want it when it won't cost them anything personally so we're all hypocrites at the end of the day....

    great interview - Emil speaks so well on Toon matters. Ironically, the Man City owners (before they bought the club) wanted to buy Newcastle United, Ashley is reported to have missed the meeting after a big night out and they instead bought City instead (and the rest is history). Emil is right though, most of the prestigious and historically big clubs were already bought up and NUFC represented a sleeping giant - huge 52k stadium, rich history of success (not so much in recent times), passionate and loyal fanbase. Consider they club was bought for 300m, the value of the club 18 months later would already be significantly higher due to the resurgence of the brand, the start of improving the facilities, the stronger squad.

      Half right. If fans are honest they don’t care about the actual human rights issues in Saudi, but they definitely do care when owners with that record are able to take over English football clubs. Even if it wasn’t a huge investment, you can guarantee Newcastle would’ve been subject to the same disgust. Nothing to do with jealousy.

      Man U have received Saudi investment for years pal. Very little media coverage at all, I mean a lot of Man United fans are even completely unaware of it at all.

    it's not Saudi money it's "our" money, everything was invented in Newcastle (google it) everything needed to get the oil out of the ground in the first place, still to this day the huge oil platforms are built there on the Tyne such a rich history, Its mineral wealth was renowned. For two centuries the region fueled the industrial revolution and made Britain the workshop of the world. This was the home of the locomotive, the birthplace of the railways, the supplier of ships to the world, the lifeboat, where electricity supply, electric light and turbine power were developed, everything that uses hydraulics were first invented in Newcastle, even tanks, steam turbines, lucozade, domestos, perspex, windscreen wipers, water purification to name a few of everything we gave to the world, even the ship the Carpathia that saved the souls from the Titanic was built in Newcastle

    I can relate to this so much. It's like they don't care about the fans at all.
