    I'm each time surprised of how much Gigabyte boards are very often (to not say always) a combination of great features, build quality and aesthetics. Wide range of options too, from budget friendly to super premium.
    Great review as always, a pleasure to watch!

    I know this is a old review but I just got this board a couple weeks ago along with a 7800X3D and 64 gigs of G.Skill 6000 (CL-30) RAM, I setup a curve optimization of -30 all cores. I have a Seasonic Vertex 1200 watt PSU and a Gigabyte 4090 Gaming OC.
    My main use for this system is playing sims (Racing and flight) in high res VR (Reverb G2v2) (3160 x 3092 per eye), this system has been rock solid, MSFS-2020 runs like a dream on this thing and some of my racing sims now have more eye candy turned up.
    My previous board was a Aorus X570 Elite Wifi, a 5900x with 32 gigs of Corsair 3200 (CL-16), for my sims in VR, the 7800X3d blows my 5900x out of the water, this thing is a beast! :)
    So far, I can honestly say..... I love this motherboard! LOL

      Thinking about it does the 4.0 pcie bother you not sure how advanced 5.0 is amd if it becomes a must I know now there isn't much out there but the transfer rate for 4.0 is still very fast. Hoe much faster do we need

    • @jackr.749
      @jackr.749 Před 3 měsíci

      @@magictracks I am using a 1 TB Samsung 980 pro (with heatsink) NVME (PCIe-4) as my boot drive, it's plenty fast. I also have a PCIe-3 NVME 1TB Kingston, even that's fairly fast as well on my system, along with a few SATA based SSDs. The crucial stuff like some racing sims and MSFS are on the NVME drives. Very happy with it's performance. :)
      The PCIe-4 needs it's heatsink, so I can imagine any PCIe-5 NVME drives would run pretty hot.

    • @jackr.749
      @jackr.749 Před měsícem

      @@strobelightstrobelight Regarding the motherboard (Aorus X670 Elite AX), I left mine on the old Bios (F9), seems to actually be faster than newer bios'es, I haven't tried the lest bios though. I have a -30 all cores set for Curve Optimizer and another small tweak I can't remember the setting right now, but I am very pleased with this motherboard. Mine is the original revision too (v 1.0). Been running it for roughly 3 months now with no issues. :)
      Chances are those that had issues didn't know what they were doing, just because it's on CZcams doesn't mean it's good! LOL

    I chose this X670 board as it had the second PCI slot slightly away from the bottom edge of the board, leaving room for my SoundBlaster-Z soundcard and the lower intake fans in my Lian-Li O11D case. Every other model in the low to mid range only had a slot right at the bottom. The onboard sound even on the high end boards is still not as good as a dedicated soundcard, even the Asus ones with Xonar tech. I am very happy to hear that the rest of the board quality is good though

    • @dotms5195
      @dotms5195 Před rokem +1

      Funny to see that you considered this board for the same reason as I am doing right now. The Fractal Torrent Compact with bottom fans also block the lowest PCIe slot, so having a decent slot at position 6 is great. The spacing between the GPU slot and this slot is perfect for those 3,5+ slot GPUs (looking at you 4090).
      A different board with this layout is the Asus Prime X670-P, which appears to be a step down in quality from this Aorus Elite while being about the same price.

    Let me tell you about that 8 layer PCB and the copper plates. After building computers since 1989 I made a grave mistake. When I was screwing the CPU AIO cooler head down to the CPU bracket I didnt notice that the top left screw was drilling into the PCB rather than the threads of the backplate. It drilled a nice little hole into the PCB, but this board works beautifully. Not an issue. Nothing wrong with the way this PC runs. Temps are perfect. Voltages are perfect. I really could have screwed up a nice and expensive board, but I got lucky. I shielded the hole with PCB masking material.

      @@terrytibbs951 Hey Terry! I wish I could post pics here to show. I was too excited when I was building this PC and I went too fast. I have a 360mm AIO. I didn't make sure that the screws of the cooler were threading into the housing. I just started to screw them in and it turned out that instead of the screws going into the threads, they were drilling into the motherboard. The pump head was a little crooked. I also couldn't see well because I installed the motherboard into the case before I screwed on the cooler pump head. I wanted to size things up with the motherboard installed. Like I said, I used PCB masking material and it is all fixed and runs perfect. This is a very thick motherboard.

    Thanks for the review... as a part-time content-creator I couldn't agree more, that this "Elite" version checks all the boxes for connection (esp. 2x Front USB3.2 USB-A connectors) - as I seem to be one of the few people left, who prefers an internal card-reader which needs that 2nd connector.
    Competition provides this amount of connections only on the highend gaming-boards for twice the price - forcing you to pay for high-end onboard-sound and overclocking-capabilities you may never need.

    The first thing I look for is a more subdued design, which this has. It looks like it is for grownups. I don't even want good audio because I have an external DAC (as anyone how cares about audio should get) so no point in putting a fancy one on a MOBO. Only thing this is missing for me is a post code display. I don't think I can buy a board without that. Love your video.

    To everyone, save your hard earn money and go with an ASUS or a MSI. If the Aorus works it works, but when it does not even the simple things are a nightmare.
    Too bad because it was perfect for me on paper.
    Edit : As of now downgrading to F4 Bios does the job. What's going on at Gigabyte ? Since 2016 their boards gave me nothing but a hard time. Their X58 and X79 were fantastic and so were the Socket A and 939 …

    In the end I pretty much liked this motherboard. Like Han Solo says, it's got it where it counts.
    Not everything is perfect, though. Where it's very weak,however, is in audio out jacks, and SATA 3.0 jacks.
    It has only 3 audio out jacks, not 5, and no SPDIF out. If there is a way to get it to do 5.1 / 7.1 surround sound, I have not figured it out. Jack sense don't seem to work.
    It has only 4 SATA jacks, not 6, and they are in a terrible place right under the monster GPU you installed. Be sure to plug in ALL your SATA cables cables before you install your GPU.
    I bent the USB-C pin on the right F_USB320G motherboard header cable and port, which is the worst connector imaginable. FOrtunately there was a second one at the bottom I could plug into. But my pin is still bent, so the USB-C don't work on it. This is onboard USB32 combo motherboard connector absolutely the worst connector the industry has ever made.
    The motherboard manual was acutally pretty good.
    It is very sad there were not WIndows 7 drivers for the motherboard. Upgrading the UEFI BIOS at first gave me fits, until I realized I could not install mismatched pairs of DIMMs.

I've been very happy with the audio from my MSI MAG X570S Tomahawk MAX WiFi, which your review helped me decide on, and I didn't even need to use the optical out for good audio. I did have to switch the "Audio Enhancements" setting in Windows 11 for my headphones/speakers from the default setting of "Device Default Effects", to "Off". Before that in certain games I couldn't hear anything behind me. Thanks for the videos Laurent.

      Very nice, my cheapest one was $100 plus tax but came with everything from box to all accessories still in plastic. Just upgraded my media pc / file sharing pc with it and a 7600x.
      Update the bios and after memory training is complete with expo enabled turn on Memory Context Restore to allow it to post faster and more regularly. It’s a nice board and best bang for the buck.

    The USB 2.0 is a way to save money on the build for peripherals that don't get anything out of the updates, wouldn't it be? Like mouse/keyboard, etc? Maybe Im dumb. It's an amazing pricepoint for what they backing, I don't begrudge that particular corner cut. I also have a LOT of usb peripherals, so.

    I just got it for Black Friday for 259USD. I hope it is as good as it was presented. Still waiting on water cooler and case to come.
    My biggest condition was at least 3 M2s (as I am already using that much on present build). No need for RGB. And this seemed so cheap compared to other, so I went for it.
    Without planning, I went for Gigabyte Aorus series again (have x399 one for the present build).
    Not sure, should I go and update BIOS with Q-Flash (so no CPU, memory or GPU). Just MB and power supply.

    i think my only gripe with this board is the 1 hdmi slot and no dpi slots. i feel they could have gotten rid of the 2nd gen usb ports entirely and given another hdmi and dpi port.

    So far I am absolutely HAT1NG this motherobard.
    I've bougth two fo them so far, and both times, they halt on the RAM LED, even though my 4 sticks of 32gb are in the supported memory list. I tried Qflashing the BIOS on both of them but that will not even start when I press the Qflash button with a USB stick in the port with GIGABYTE.BIN file on it. This motherobard is CRRP. I've cleared the CMOS with the button, but can't get under the heatsink to replce the CMOS on either one of them.

  • @rup1u5

    Whoever decided to put the battery under the chipset heatsink on this board should be punished severely! I have had this board for almost 2 years now and the battery has run flat. This has never happened to me before with a new board in the past 30 years or so with any of my previous boards. Now I have to completely dismantle the whole computer, take out the board, remove the heatsink, and replace the thermal compound on the chipsets as well, just to put in a new battery. Besides this nuisance, it's a solid board.

    I came here to see what was wrong with these boards as there's so many on the used market, but it seems it's probably because so many were bought, great review thank you. I already have Aorus elite for my am4 and I'm looking for advice on whether to get this or the x670-e for my new workstation build
    ... I do game but usually I'm producing music or rendering animations, multiple gpus will be installed, a 7950x, corsair dominator platinum (xmp version) has already been bought
    .. do I really need the x670-e... I'm not sure I need the extra pci lanes as the second or 3rd gpu don't really need the big throughput of fast pci lanes... If anyone can help me decide, I'm going around in circles

    Great review as always Laurent!
    I have one question though - are you sure that the fan headers are all hybrid? I ask bc usually Gigabyte board spec sheets mention which headers are hybrids. For this one, it only says the following:
    1 x CPU fan header
    1 x water cooling CPU fan header
    3 x system fan headers
    For the X670E AORUS Master it says:
    1 x CPU fan header
    1 x water cooling CPU fan header
    4 x system fan headers
    4 x system fan/water cooling pump headers
    So that one has four hybrids if I'm reading this correctly.

    • @Laurentschoice
      @Laurentschoice  Před rokem +1

      Good point. Indeed, I had the same question, but after digging deeper I found all the Elite connectors to be compatible with flow sensors. Therefore, they are undoubtably all hybrid connectors.
      If you read the Elite description, on the official general info page you will find the following (in the Key features ection) :
      Smart Fan 6:Features Multiple Temperature Sensors, Hybrid Fan Headers with FAN STOP.
      Thanks again for your precious contribution Outmind01. Always very welcomed!!! :)
