Einmal Mars-Feeling ohne ein paar Lichtjahre durchs All zu schippern und seine Seele an Elon Musk zu verkaufen? Wenn es nach Conor Mason und Dom Craik von Nothing but Thieves geht, muss man dafür einfach einmal nach Island reisen. Für verrücktes Essen, wie zum Beispiel fermentierten Hai, darf ein Abstecher in der Hauptstadt Reykjavik nicht fehlen. Bei „Top 5“ erzählen uns die beiden, welche Dinge sie an Berlin lieben und wie genau Dom in einer Bar in Tokyo den „Rave-Modus“ ausgelöst hat.
Die britische Rockband Nothing But Thieves veröffentlicht seit gut zehn Jahren Musik. Dieses Jahr kam ihr viertes Studioalbum „Dead Club City“ heraus, das sie das erste Mal in ihrer Karriere auch selbst produziert haben. Generell ist es das Projekt, an dem sie alle am meisten selbst beteiligt waren - von der Produktion bis hin zum Artwork floss alles aus den Händen und Köpfen der Band zu dem zusammen, was „Dead Club City“ nun ist: ein experimentelles Konzeptalbum, das uns Hörer:innen in eine fiktionale Welt mitnimmt, die hier und da aber doch mehr mit der echten zu tun hat, als man sich manchmal wünschen würde.
