I have that exact Amarok on order and is a few weeks away. The only difference is I didn’t do the leather seat upgrade as the stock STYLE seat is shmick and has heating as standard. I have jumped ship from my Toyota Prado long wait and am very happy with the decision. With factory canopy installed on handover we will have a huge grin driving out of the showroom. Very Impressed so far. Good review guys, thanks.

After watching your fantastic review I decided to test drive both. I will spend 90% of my time behind the wheel so for me it's the Amarok all day long!. The cabin is far more refined and feels more "car like " than " van like". Whereas the Ranger Wildtrack felt more "van like". The Amarok seats are softer and far more comfortable, which more than makes up for the harder drive. I was divided until I test drove them both, but not any more!

Great review, I have a much better understanding of the differences between the 2 vehicles now. As a current V6 Amarok owner, based on what you said, I would prefer the Ford, but in Wildtrak guise. Ride comfort have always been the biggest priority for me. However, it will be a while before I will have to make that decision, as I will keep my Amarok for many years to come.

Test Drove a V6 PanAmericana. Interior is definitely a good comfortable place to drive around in. Not perfect but damn near. Cup holder placement and adjusting the aircon through screen etc are annoying but not really a deal breaker. that leather in there tho is just awesome. ONLY issue I had with the UTE (believe it or not) is the tiny tiny Indicator lamps in the rear LED units. Other drivers JUST don't see it when indicating to change lanes. Got flipped off a fair few times. could be my driving idk

As a multiple Amarok owner from 2012 , first an APR tuned 200kw 300tsi petrol 4x2 dual cab I bought brand new for $25k, then a 2016 Atacama, finally a 2019 Highline V6 with Blackpack. None of them cost more than $55k (i'm a good buyer). It's not the money with these new Amaroks it's the desire, I'm trying to like them but the old ones looked cool, sleek and attractive. They drove like SUV's too. This new Ranger in a disguise is just a ute, a regular ute hardly distinguishable from the rest of them. Maybe I can buy one and get some paintwork done or do something else to make it more appealing? Who knows. Also historically VW dealers and VW Australia offer some of the worst service of any motoring brand, so an early car that needs to see a dealer frequently will be a nightmare.

They will be very similar in terms of towing performance, but there is a key difference for those towing at the very heavy end of the capacity. While the GCM is the same for both at 6400kg, the Ranger is 61kg lighter. For trailers above 3100kg, the Ranger can carry 61kg more payload, which could be useful. For trailers below 3100kg, normal payload limits apply, which are slightly better for the Amarok (1031kg vs 1022kg).

Is it a Ford engine or Jaguar, if it’s the latter it mat be a cause for concern with the Jaguar Land Rovers reliability issues any thoughts am I wrong

It is an engine that Ford initially developed in collaboration with Peugeot way back in the early 2000s, and it has had many upgrades and changes since that point

Its the Ford lion engine isn't it? Used in all the landrovers and jaguars at 3 ltr. Do you know if they have strengthened the crank shaft and plastic manifolds as these are the common things to go on these engines? Great review thanks from UK.

I have watched plenty reviews but no journalist seems to know the style variants. So far I have learnt the style comes in either bi-turbo 2 l 154kw or 3.0 l 184 kw v6. But what seems more confusing is that the other style comes with 3 bar led day time at the top of the headlights and a hallowagen indicator at the tail. Where as this one you reviewed comes with full led day time lights and full led at the tail just like the Aventura. Also in the next review could you clarify the differences between the Pan Americana and the style v6. Is there another difference apart from the blacked out wheels and sports bars of the pan americana? They say it's off road focused but I don't see how it differs from the style v6. Any difference in suspension tuning? Thank you.

      @chasingcars  Před rokem

Yes, the Panamericana has an entirely different damper to the Style, so the ride is quite different - a bit softer but still controlled.

@@chasingcars thank you. And what about the style variants? Why the other v6 style come with hallowagen buld indicator at the tail? Is it according to markets perhaps?

The tray design on these modern Ute's seems so impractical.
Try fitting a swag with a decent mattress in it under that cover.
40 litre Engel would fit either.
And those stupid spots bars.. what's the point point?

Amarok for me, for all the reasons you mention. Plus, I just don’t like the way the Ranger looks - trying too hard to look like a big American truck (for obvious reasons, but still…).

I was shopping around for a ranger and when yoy look at the prices between fhe sport and the wildtrack V6 there is only 4k in it. Youd have to be a fool get get the sport.
The catch is though you cant actually buy a wildtrack V6 so i think ford jacked up the price of the sport V6 as they actually have stock

If I had to choose between the Sport or Style it would be the Amarok but, I dont really feel like its a good comparison.
Price wise the Style with those leather seats is more comparable to the Wildtrak with premium pack.
I think the upcoming Wildtrak X should be compared to the Pan Americana as they are both the offroad specific versions and the Ranger platinum up against the Aventura. In terms of price perhaps that makes more sense? And the Raptor in a league of its own for now.
Still a great video and thanks for the comparison.

Yeah, and guys would choose the BT-50 over D-Max; or not realise how many tranny bits are shared among Hilux / Scorpio / BT-50 / D MAX / etc. And people buy the badge, not the ute. That is downright daft, sometimes. Would they do the same with computers that share mixed hardware, go after branding? That would even be sillier. While many are built by either Clevo or TongFang.....
