Bricky is a great intro to the universe but it also gonna make you confused on some things as he goes for entertainment over accuracy. Still, theres no better way to get a quick intro. I highly recommend leutin09's the emperor of man parts one and two. Theyre 90 mins each but youll learn a TON about the imperium. Itll really help you understand a lot of future videos. People are gonna start reccomending warrior tier and a vox in the void etc, which are stellar channels but its best to get more into the lore first. Then youll be able to enjoy channels that tell stories better since youll actually know whats being talked about. New sub btw! Im always down to watch someone get sucked into 40k!

Inquisitors answer only to themselves and the Emperor, human Pyskers can be recruited and trained to become Inquisitors too so not only do you have a person who can do anything but also have the Pysker power to read your mind and explode your head to bits with a just a thought.
Space Marines get their recruits by taking normal human boys 10 years old and putting them through brutal and traumatic trails to see who is strong, the Grey Knights do the same but they look for boys who are Pyskers.
The Custsodes are known as the ten thousand because there are only ten thousand of them.
The Emperor is the only Pysker to be able to use his Pysker powers in the presence of blanks/Sisters of silence. Not even his Primarch son Magnus the Red who is one of the most powerful Pyskers can't use his Pysker powers when in the presence of blanks.

Just a very very very minor nitpick. Even though the inquisitors only answer to the Emperor, if a Custodes were to "request" something from the inquisition...technically they can refuse....but...😂😂😂

43:59 to answer the chain of command question, It's difficult, as you suspect the chain of command is quite convoluted, it's going to depend on how high ranked the highest ranked member of each imperial army is as to who would command the army as a whole.
The adeptus mechanicus usually sit in a position of we don't take orders but also don't give orders, usually imperial forces will request aid from them and they will decide for themselves if it's worth it for them to help or not, they are generally pretty cooperative with imperial forces because there are tech preasts scattered throughout all levels of imperial society to keep the imperium running and a threat to the imperium is also a threat to imperial technology.
Space marines sit in a weird spot because of the horus heresy. Prior to it, space marines were top dogs they were in charge of the armies and horus himself was warmaster, then horus did the thing and big E got messed up, the inquisition was created, the high lords of terra took full control of the imperium and the the primarchs started dying/disappearing this left the space marines in this spot of having to technically answer to the high lords of terra and the inquisition while at the same time being genetically linked to the primarchs and the emperor, the space marines are literally believed to be angels of death by the average citizen, they don't take orders from most and will often take control on arrival unless there's an imperial officer of very high rank or an inquisitor and even then it is not uncommon for battles to happen between space marines and imperial forces because one side or the other didn't like a decision the other made.
Sisters of battle and imperial guard are both lower ranked in terms of imperial command it's not often you will have a case of either one of them telling a space marine what to do and they are definitely not telling an inquisitor what to do.
But this is just a rule of thumb. Like i said at the start, it ultimately comes down to who's there and whose operation it is

Might be coming in a bit late with this, but to elaborate on the Adeptus Mechanicus: They are not only the industrial basis of the Imperium of Man, but scientific as well. The core dogma of the Omnissian Cult is the pursuit of technological progress, knowledge and its comprehension. Particularly of knowledge that was once known, and is now lost to humanity, mostly in the form of STCs (Standard Template Constructs) - Basically blueprints for various machines and technologies from before the time of the Imperium of Man. What isn't really mentioned is how fractured and incohesive the various circles within the cult are. What time isn't spent managing industry and machinery or researching artifacts of old is spent by discussion and bickering about what constitutes the "Rightful path of Comprehension". The only things that the Cult mostly universally agrees on is:
    1) AI (Artificial intelligence, or as they call it, abominable intelligence) is forbidden from being researched and produced.
    2) Integration of warp sorcery and energies into machinery is forbidden.
    3) Research, usage and reproduction of alien technology is forbidden.
I say mostly, for even these fairly respected tenets tend to be challenged by the most radical Tech-priests within the cult. Such individuals are usually branded a so-called "Heretek", expelled from the cult and declared the enemies of Adeptus Mechanicus, and of the Imperium at large.
Besides that, there is a millennia-old schism concerning whether innovating on your own should be considered heretical or not, and various sects within the cult have their own interpretation of the matter. While usually the cult is very conservative, newer media shows them being more and more open to experimentation (The Current Archmagos of Mars, as in: Tech-pope, is pretty chill about innovating on his own), and to shunning the dogma of conservative attitudes toward technology (The new 40K: Rogue Trader game has a whole game-spanning questline built around this premise).

7:13 The tabletop stuff can be expensive to get into if you try and buy a whole army at once for full scale 40k. But something like Kill Team, which is just small squads against each other, is much more accessible - and considered by many to be a better game.
Also it's funny that people seem to forget - you don't HAVE to paint anything. I mean you could play the game with a box of army men if you wanted as long as your opponent doesn't mind. The minis don't actually add anything to the gameplay, it's purely cosmetic. Sure, it's nicer to have a painted army but GW don't come round your house and kick the door in if you don't. It's only a matter for official tournament play. Tbh I'd say it's probably worth playing the game a bit BEFORE buying any minis - no point investing if you find you don't enjoy it.
13:10 That's not necessarily canon any more. It comes from the first Realm of Chaos supplement book back in first edition 40k in 1988. But a lot of lore from that time isn't the same as it is now, so it's not really considered the 'true' story. There's a whole lot about the Emperor's biological children in there too, which isn't a thing any more. They haven't updated it with anything else since then, though, and they probably won't - it's probably truer to say his origins are a mystery. There are other theories, like he was a kind of bio-weapon engineered in the Golden Age of Technology and stuff. But it's all speculation. With that said GW do like to dig into 1st edition to bring back stuff in updated forms so who knows?
43:19 Generally it would go roughly Space Marines > Sisters of Battle > Guard. Space Marines are largely semi-independent and mostly go around doing what they want, but they have the authority to take charge of whenever they like over Guard or Planets. I think Ad Mech are sort of their own thing, and it depends on the battle. But often the battles might come under the charge of a particular commander, or a smaller group maybe under an Inquisitor (because they're really top of any tree). But on the other hand the factions are often at odds with each other in the universe (or even amongst themselves) so it really depends on the scenario. (Sisters of Battle can be suspicious of Space Marines for instance). There's a lot of politics and infighting in the Imperium.

The Cult Mechanicus is allowed to worship the Onnissiah and has complete autonomy over the Forge-Worlds they occupy by the decree of the Emperor himself and under the terms of the Treaty of Olympus.
Basically their autonomy and position is requisite that they are to provide the imperium with the technology, materiel, and weapons the Imperium requires to maintain itself in all things.

One inaccuracy that bricky mentions in this video as that he kinda refers to custodes as space marines which is not true. they are not space marines. it like saying that your house kitten is the same as a bangled tiger. custodes do not use gene-seed like space marines do. they undergo a completely different process of modification. space marines are usually taken in at about 8 to 10 years old and have organs implanted into them. custodes are taken in at an even younger age and their modifications and organs are actually grown inside them. where space marines typically study only the facet of war, custodes also study science, art, and even state craft. just to show how much of a different level these guys are on.

34:42 yes and no, the "prayer" of the mechanicus is mostly like the technical manual of the machine, like instead of just pushing the on switch they burn incence and chant for 5 minutes to revere the saint on switch and then push it... the machine spirit is like an imaginary friend born from the interpretation of what the machine do by the priest, it's like the morons who says they feel ghost just because some shit fell in their apartment... on large scale though like spaceship and titan the machine spirit is basically the ai of the thing even if they'll never admit it cause ai is heretical since the war with the men of iron...
43:20 the answer is no one "take charge" cause those faction weren't created to act together to begin with but there is still some possibility... imperial guard will do what they can to follow what the space marines says cause they are the angels of the emperor, for regular human or guard seeing a space marine is like seing an angel or valkirie for us it's so rare that some people don't believe in their existence, like some religious myth. so if they show up it's like trying to follow a messenger from god himself, but in the end you don't "have" to follow them because they don't really care if you do... sisters are even worse they were created waaaaay after space marine or guard and think that it's their duty to clean everything that is not emperor-sexual, they will not hesitate to attack even space marine if there is even the tiniest hint of heresy or lack of faith... in the improbably situation of those faction being in the same spot they will do their shit solo while "trying" to not hinder eachother...

Chain of command is dependent on situation. Marines and guard may be subservient to planetary defence command or ground force command. But some inquisitor can take command by himslef, or some legendary hero. Sisters and church do their own missions working alongside other regiments and factions. Mechanicus and Titans have a privelege to choose who to help or not. Allied forces can petition them for aid for example. Different assassin ordos work on their own. Noble families' personal guard fight for their masters and no one else. Navy nobilites are separated from ground forces, so they also do their own job, most of the time with ground forces. 40k is a neo-feudal regime, where allegiance is more dynamic than we used to.

A sci fi horror from the 90's. This was originally written as a fan story about the invention of Warp travel. But when shown it & asked if they would license it, GW said no! So about why there isn't more, Games Workshop is like really dumb with how they handle the IP There are actually a few animated shows, but they are on a Warhammer specific streaming site. They are not in any way of a quality to be worth the cost. They really want to do everything themselves or at least hand the series to major fans, which is why almost nothing is ever done. On one hand it's great that they are not handing out the license left and right,* on the other hand, it sucks that we don't have more content.
More content would bring more people to the hobby, that is practically a fact, but I guess GW just doesn't want to risk giving someone a license and having them mess it up.

40k is nowhere close to Star Trek in terms of the "vastness" of the lore, its just Games Workshop doesnt know how to unify it into one setting. Star Trek didnt have that problem until Discovery came out...
Also, if youre not a wargamer or collector of minis, its probably best you just get into the 40k RPG, like i did, especially if you have any background in RPGs
