Thank you for taking the time to review this. Just found one in a store and didnt know they had re released him but mines gonna be in his box for a very long time. This was the first time since I was little I've seen that beast wars packaging and I loved that feeling.
Good review. Glad I did not pay full price for mine, found it today on clearance already at walmart for 15.99 . Original figure does look superior, even the Universe one was better.
Okay the gorilla chest beating is how every spring-loaded gimmick should be. It doesn't intrude on the actual articulation itself but it's there if you want it. Beast machines Optimus primal I'm looking at you
i have bat optimus, transmetal optimus and optimal optimus but not this optimus same with megatron. i'm really grateful for the reissues that i can finally get my fingers on the figures that i couldn't get 25 years ago.
I feel like the original Primal figure was supposed to be Supreme Commander from the Japanese continuity. The reissue is Primal from the Beast Wars that we know (they should have definitely added more paint to the reissue to make it look more like the show, especially at the new price point).
Thanks for confirming that I'm not crazy. Had the original as a kid, bought the reissue on clearance today, and it feels so much cheaper than I remember. It feels almost like a bootleg, and all the reviews I can find are giving it amazing scores... glad to have it, but definitely agree the original is better.
I recently got one of these at my local Walmart, and I hade to do a few fixes to it. Nothing broken though. just tightened some screws on his elbows, and on his right shoulder cannon so the cover wouldn't fly off each time I deployed it. The only major work I had to do was lengthen the spring under the fire button so the missile would hook on as it should. and the hardest parts where keeping the main springs in the cannon in place and refixing the torsion spring in hinge. But aside from that, both shoulder cannons work now.
Does the reissue Primal seem to have looser joints? Looks like he was flopping over on you but you didn't mention that so idk. Let me know I'm curious. Megatron was different enough to get but Primal I'm on the fence on.
I'm a little pissed that they didn't paint the inner chest plate red. I'm just going to paint it myself but I'm the type of collector who tries to keep everything original unless I have a second one to modify.
When it comes to the gears on the arms, my Universe Primal feels to have the same tension. I haven’t checked the back trigger that’s used for the arm swinging action but I wonder if THIS Primal is a reissue of that Universe Reissue.
im unable to activate the ratchets on mine after trying to get the lever to lay flat could someone help the arms are stuck in the floppy chest beating mode
I am so disappointed in the leg joints for this guy! Other than that he’s a decent reproduction and I’m excited to have him on my desk, but those legs won’t hold any pose!
@@TheDanimatorsChannel Yes, SUPER loose. Contacted Hasbro support but no replacements available, and in checking some other reviews it seems like it might be an issue with the figure in general. Should hopefully be able to fix it, but was just hoping for a really solid figure!
I must have gotten a lemon. On first opening, the shoulder ratchets worked for two or three clicks, and now they've disappeared entirely. The ratchets don't even engage, I only now realized they weren't there anymore after watching yours work in the video. The elbow ratchet tooth on the mace arm also broke within about 20 minutes of being open. Ultimately, the chest pounding gimmick doesn't work at all for me as a result. Not really complaining too much as I don't really need this gimmick to enjoy it, but the plastic on those internal ratchet pieces is SUPER soft.
The figure itself is great to me. But I can't for the life of me understand how you did it. How did you manage to conceal the back lever into the slot from that position? I seem to have trouble doing so...
The elbow are also in a gear system like the shoulders, maybe in the new one they sound more loud and are stronger because they're brand new, meanwhile the original's are softer probably because of age. There's also a small button in the biceps that moves the arms from the elbows down instead from the shoulders, maybe that has something to do with those honestly disgusting noises the reissue makes. Pd:apology for bad English
Considering the huge amount of original Optimus Primals I have seen on eBay that are missing the gorilla head entirely, maybe that has something to do with the new soft plastic struts? EDIT: You literally said that the moment after I wrote that comment. T__T
thanks for the comparison! the bad quality doesn´t surprise me at all. i got ss86 slug recently , really was looking forward to him, and he looks great, but the built feels like the cheapest ko. the ratchets a very inconsistent, in the shoulders and hips. paint scratches right out of the box. the backpack comes loose everytime i touch him. and that´s not the only figure with problems like that. very dissappointing. especially for the prices they demand nowadays. but it´s not only transformers, i collect motu origins, and the quality on them is very bad as well.
Thanks for the comparison! I'm glad I got mine since I missed out when I was a kid, but they really don't make toys like they used to. Definitely still getting an original if I ever get the chance.
They don’t make anything like they used the original is definitely better just saw the reproductions of Optimus & Megatron a long with Chetor and ratrap was thinking about picking Em up but decided to wait on it that darker blue head is irritating me tho

Super cool....would love to see night scream or other beast wars figures you may have.
i was only 4 when beast wars came out and i loved it but wasn't allowed to get the toys, now i have both optimus and megatron
I like the new one, darker tone of blues and different reds

Omg so am I! If I want to paint one, I’d have to get a second one.
But you wouldn't be modifying it. That part is supposed to be red.
@@anthonybernero9720 yeah I'm just weird like that. I like my figures original out the box from the manufacturer.

YOU NEED WAY MORE SUBSCRIBERS YOU ARE AWSOME AND HAVE A GREAT PERSONALITY AND FOR YOUR FIRST VIDOE YOU DID AMAZING and thats fact ;)
Snagged a few of this guy from Walmart for 11 each ! Original is def superior but for 11 dollars I’m not even upset , will def fix him up though
Your just saying it feels cheat because you don't know the difference from the orginal.

I got the reissue of primal and megs for 30 off Amazon. I feel I might need to do some customizing. But nice comparison review
Wish I could afford these figures. But I'm confused. Some figures r in 3 different box types. Really confusing

The hips on your reissue are horrible. I think that mightve been bad luck though. I just got one, and his hips are nice and tight.
All of the quality w the plastic, is from the lead fillers being removed.
makes sense, if you lick the old one you run a chance of getting ligma, with this new one you don't

does de original have the termical maximal sign anywhere? I never had one so I´m not sure where it supposes to go -.-
No. It doesn't.
Year 1 BW guys didn't have that gimmick

I wish hasbro never did the stupid chest pound gimmick. I also wish none of the parts were spring loaded.
I bought rat trap and cheetor I was going to leave them in the box but I'm not sure if it's worth it
the reisure cards are extremely thin unless you pack them in a protective case. and the glue of the bubble have not the best strength with die card.
