El Dorado Ranch w/ approx. 5000 linear feet of the Florida RIver - 380 Acres - Durango, Colorado
A rare opportunity to own a 380 acre legacy ranch near Durango! This ranch is as close to perfect as one could expect located only 6 miles from Durango and yet offers the ranch “lifestyle” in totality. Approximately 5,000 linear feet of the Florida River runs through the ranch--an excellent fishing habitat which holds rainbow, brown and cut bow trout.
The ranch has a large pond that also provides fishing, and excellent family recreation such as boating, floating, and swimming complete with a dock and excellent picnic spot. In addition to the deeded acreage, access to a 420 acre recreation easement adds to the outdoor enjoyment this property has to offer. The hay fields have ample irrigation that is delivered via irrigation gun, gated pipe, and flood irrigation.
The variety of terrain offers the owner the advantage of having the river bottom and irrigated crop land, to the ridge top terrain that is an excellent private home site with breathtaking views, to the “upper meadows” that provide pasture for livestock and the abundant wildlife including deer, elk, wild turkey, mountain lion and bear. On any given day, there are hawks and bald eagles that frequent the roosting trees and river alike.
The property adjoins BLM lands on the south providing an excellent buffer. To the east is a privately owned ranch of over 1,000 acres which also provides exceptional privacy. The spectacular upper meadows provide grazing and expansive pastoral views. These meadows are ideal for horseback riding, hiking, snow shoeing and cross country skiing. The ranch has supported an natural longhorn herd, as well as recreational horses for the last several years.
A 1474 square foot manager’s home, hay barn, equipment building and paddocks assist in the ease of the operation. A handsome security electronic gate frames the entrance road as you enter with irrigated hay fields on each side. There are several building envelopes that would be exceptional locations for the new owners to choose from. The ranch does have a conservation easement protecting the ranch and provides an excellent protection from property taxes increasing. In fact, they are very low because of the conservation easement.
The ranch is being sold complete with equipment to maintain the ranch operations. In addition, the existing ranch manager has been taking care of the ranch for over 2 decades and would be an important asset to the future owner. This ranch has year-round beauty provided by the mixture of the riparian trees, the pastures and meadows, the gamble oak, ponderosa pine, juniper, pinon, fir and spruce trees, and aspen. A breadth of natural plants and trees.

Poor cows, eventually going to be killed by unconscious and insane humans...they deserve respect, not to be herded like slaves...

Actually these longhorns are grass fed, as nature intended. Not jammed into a feed lot. And, they get to live in some of the most beautiful country imaginable. El Dorado supplies clean meat to our local restaurants including one local brewpub. It's local, sustainable and humane. This is exactly how we should be treating our animals.

Aria Dawn, Just so you know, an unconscious human doesn't kill anything. Well except maybe a fly if it gets to close to their mouth when they're snoring and their mouth is wide open.
And I always get a bit upset when I see or hear about insane people and insane cows killing all those beautiful plants.. Have you ever had a beautiful flower garden that was destroyed by an insane cow? I have and I was PO'ed!! But let me tell you what, the next week I had some of the best steaks ever, and after I ate, I replanted some new flowers.. :)
