- CFB Comox organised an airshow this year celebrating the 100th anniversary of the RCAF. After a nine year hiatus since the last Comox Airshow, it was great to see some flying displays over Comox once again.
Arrivals on the Friday before the show included a rare EP-3E Aries II, possibly the last appearance in Canada for the aircraft before retirement, the first ever airshow appearance of a CC-330 Husky, a KC-135R and lots more.... including some demo practices from the C-130, CH-149, CC-138 and CF-18!
Huge thanks to Nick Gifford for providing the thumbnail photo!

Big thanks to Nick Gifford for providing the thumbnail photo. Please go check out his instagram account @clipperphotography for some top notch military and general aviation photography.
Excellent videos Tobyn Burton Aviation - thank you for posting. Sincere thanks to the RCAF, pilots, navigators, flight engineers, load masters, ground crews, logistics support personnel, and everyone involved. You should be so proud of what you are doing for Canada. Bravo Zulu.
Rare bird indeed! Great catch of the EP-3E Aries! A beautiful Intel bird! Thanks for all the great shots!! 👍
Thanks! Yeah, it was super exciting to see it for what might be the last time. You're very welcome.
Thankyou for that video. Don't forget to watch, "Wings of Honour", 100th anniversary tribute to the RCAF. Thanks to my uncle George, RCAF pilot Korea. I can tell you the young men and women of Canada are lining up to become our next generation of RCAF pilots.
This was great, brought back many memories as I was the Public Affairs officer at Comox in the early 90’s. Doing joint exercises with the US and hosting the Snow birds during their spring training were among the highlights. Thanks for the the post.
Very cool! You're welcome, glad you enjoyed.
Warms this old man’s heart, Dad was stationed there in the 60’s, fantastic time for the RCAF.
Really nice arrival shots, it looks like a lot of nice visitors for the airshow in Comox this year! Great sound from the F-18 blasting off as well and that smoking Orion approach was awesome as well. Nice footage!
Thanks! Yes it was great seeing a whole bunch of military action in one day.
Wouldn’t it be nice to see an Avro Aero in there….😢
I was truly lucky to see Abottsford International in '88.
The great Concorde, the original Harrier jump jet, the Avro Vulcan bomber, & the Cossak 225 on display, early F-18's, F-15, F-16 !!
Airshows are awsome !
Oh man, I wish I had a Time Machine to go back and witness that!
Great that you posted the ages of the aircraft. It shows the quality of the people that maintain them to keep them in top condition for so long. Sadly, it also shows the appalling amount of time it takes our Government(s) to actually make Military procurement decisions. I really enjoyed your video. Great to see some of these fine aircraft.
Thanks! Yes, I was surprised myself at some of the aircraft ages... I couldn't even find info on one of the C-130s but it must be at least 45 years old!
Great video! Always warms my heart to see any P-3 variant still operational these days. Bonus points for the Snowbirds clips!
Cheers from the USA
I really love the P-3 & this one is very special 👍😎Love the rest as well 👍😎
Thanks Ed! Yeah, that was a really cool aircraft to see.
Awesome display 👏
Beautiful video ❤
Flying in formation 🤩
And nobody noticed the bald eagle in the f-18 fly-by????? @3:36
Glad someone noticed it too!
Yes I did was about to comment
What a really really nice video !!!! Thank you ;-)
You're welcome, thanks for watching!
Amazing video. I never get sick of hearing the sound of a Cormorant.
Cool!
Excellent video, thumbs up!
Thanks!
Lived on Kin beach, left in 58. Saw both Lancaster’s leave and Neptunes arrive.
I read that funny looking long antenna that runs on the top of the aircraft can monitor over a million cell phone lines per second. crazy
On the way-back machine: - when a "killick" in the RCN with some leave due, I caught a "flip" out of Comox on a Grumman Tracker. After a safety briefing, being admonished to relieve myself pre-flight, given a box lunch, rear facing seat, and over the Rockies we went. Noisy, cramped little sucker that afterward garnered the utmost of respect from me for anyone flying hours upon hours of anti-sub patrol missions in one of those things.
Nice job! It was a great show
Thanks! Yeah, I thoroughly enjoyed.
Great video!
I watched the traffic here a few years ago. A Lockheed like this made take-off-and landing training.
That was probably a CC-115 Buffalo!
@@nybotor1 no, I watched a P-3. I did get a pic of a Buffalo, too. We were waiting for the Powell River Ferry.
I was there it was grrrrrreat😊😊😊🎉🎉🎉
Would of loved to see this air show. Had no idea comox put on a show.
Hopefully it will return in 2026! I heard rumours about it.
Great camera work 😊
Thanks!
A great plane and learning a lot in the navy then
37 years since I left there as a base brat...
I left in 88!
Great videos. i wonder if Trudeau was on his private jet with the new paint job. The 330 looks great. Hope there is a Challenger around to get him up to Tofino.
3:02 "cleared for unrestricted climb to 1000'"
The Boeing Stratotanker I assume is based on the old 707 platform. Can anyone confirm that? I think it is a beautiful airplane
Yes, it's based on The Boeing Dash 80, which is essentially the early development of the 707.
멋진 에어쇼
0:12 - Buffalo's next acquisition?
That was a VQ-1 (?) P3.
Yes!
Nice footage! What camera and lens did you use?
Sony AX53.
@@nybotor1 thanks
3:35, love how a bald eagle flies by in this shot. Looks so american 🤣🤣
Did the Snowbirds perform with 9 planes?
They practiced with 8 and then performed with just 7 during the show on Saturday. I believe one of the pilots has had a broken hand, and one jet on Saturday had mechanical issues.
Wot was the first plane, the US Navy four turboprop one?
An EP-3E from VQ-1 stationed at NAS WHIDBEY. It collects electronic intelligence. I flew with their sister squadron (VQ-2) in Rota Spain in the late 1970's. VQ-1 used to be stationed in Guam.
@@chrisholm8030 Thanx for that. EP-3E. Good to know.
There goes Canada's defence budget for the year.
c130 was canada's whole air force.
P3 Bit shaky Bro...🎉
Beautiful. Tho you can really tell all the wear and tear on the super hornet yet thanks to the liberals that plane will most likely have to serve for another 30 some years.
Trudeau gets a new plane... The military goes hungry
Kind of sad really. Thanks for posting this vid but kind of sad.
Canada’s airforce looks pretty sad old machines and poorly maintained. Feel bad for the crews
