FILM DESCRIPTION:
Impressed by high school student David's (Tobey Maguire) devotion to a 1950s family TV show, a mysterious television repairman (Don Knotts) provides him with a means to escape into the black-and-white program with his sister, Jennifer (Reese Witherspoon). While David initially takes to the simplistic, corny world of the show, Jennifer sets about jolting the characters with doses of reality that unexpectedly bring a little color into their drab existence.

I really liked how George isn't villainised or made to be the bad guy in this situation. He clearly loves his wife and children, but he's a product of his wholesome 1950's environment, and simply doesn't understand the changes happening around him.
So he’s basically George Cleaver.
@@puterboy2 Well that was the premise of the whole movie. How would the cleavers respond if they were subject to the troubles of the real world.
I think the reason why they didn’t vilify him was because they needed someone like him to be the essential character at the final Townhall meeting. The whole movie is an allegory for how persons cannot conform to society are Mistreated (I.e. minorities and LGBTQ persons). The scene where David/Bud appeals to George about his feelings for his ex wife, that was basically an appeal to the humanity of people who turned a blind eye to this mistreatment.
I thinks it’s funny watching him be perfect in this movie and being an alcoholic in shameless
100% agree. I love that even when he didn't understand what was going on, he was still a loving father towards Bud in jail. He just took more time to process and understand that things change, but that's completely understandable since he lives in a world that's use to routine 24/7.
I really like how the lightning flashes after the first "Honey, I'm home". That's the moment when everything truly changes for George.
"It's fine, it's just rain, SEE?! Come on out."
Struck by lightning.
🤣🤣🤣 i ALWAYS think this in that scene
You're a funny guy
I like how when he raises his arms in the rain for a split second its almost exactly like the scene in Shawshank Redemption when Andy raises his hands in triump after exiting the sewage pipe.
Shawshank is one of the best movies ever made, I love that movie
He's so confused because he doesn't know why his wife meets him at the door. He put down his case, took off his hat, said the words, but he doesn't know that none of that ritual is what actually made her want to see him.
You are a beautiful mind.
When i started watching shameless i couldnt pucture him as a bad dad. Now i see this years later and its weird to see him as a good dad. Such a great actor this guy. Truly
This movie is so amazing
This is one of the memorable scenes of my childhood
I’m legit mad that people aren’t watching this for history class
We actually watched this in Sociology this year. I really enjoyed it. Of course I had to write an essay on it, but it was still a good movie nonetheless!
I watched it in English class. Good times...
Where’s my dinner, Where’s my dinner 🍲 Where’s my 🍽!
Aah! Two Buffy the Vampire Slayer actors are extras in this!! I see Riley and Johnathan and I’m freaking out!!
Actually, standing outside a structure in a lightning storm can in fact harm you. ⛈️
2:14 Shawshank
I like the beginning of the clip where everyone is walking home lol.
where’s Fiona, Lip, Ian, Carl, Debbie, and Liam???
This was what Frank hallucinated while he drank himself to Mexico.
Where all the cool kids hang out, Lovers Lane.
I SEARCHED UP THE GHOST AND PALS SONG AND NOW IM HAVING FLASHBACKS
Reminds me of The Shining. Honey, I'm Home!
It should have been “Where’s my SUPPER?”
Where’s my dinner?
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh this is the new moive

I couldn't care less about the disposition of a male predominant society play the old school Way... It's that fine feel of rain.
Frank Gallagher?
Really wish America could go back to this!
This movie was an analogy for race mixing and liberalism
this movie was of course directed by a jewish movie director who villifies decent family men
@@karimtemri1664exactly 💯
@@karimtemri1664capitalism is what does that. Not some movie. Why be a man when there is money to be made.
Isn’t this film what “Barbie” tried to be and failed miserably? Also, these types of films worked well in an age when America was relatively stable and peaceful and office malaise or suburban burnout were still relevant topics. We WISH we lived in Pleasantville in 2024. How ironic.
