About the artist:
George Benson (born March 22, 1943) is a ten-time Grammy Award-winning American musician. He began his professional career at twenty-one, as a jazz guitarist.
Benson first came to prominence in the 1960s, playing soul jazz with Jack McDuff and others. He then launched a successful solo career, alternating between jazz, pop, R&B singing, and scat singing. A one-time child prodigy, he topped the Billboard 200 in 1976 with the triple-platinum album, Breezin', He was a major live attraction during the 1980s, and still has a large following. Benson uses a rest-stroke picking technique similar to that of gypsy jazz players such as Django Reinhardt. He has received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

I use to have George Bensons greatest hits double album . Unfortunately it was stolen along with a collection of 45's and albums but this was always my favorite song of his recorded long before Whitney Houston recorded it . I wish songs now were as beautiful and meaningful as this one.
I believe the message of this song has become ever so important. A sense of self as well as a sense of God is what children need to become great citizens.
This was the song of every graduation in the 70s and 80s. I had to learn this song for our jrhs graduation. it was one of George's best lyrical songs ever! There's power in it. We would sing for the sake of being in good spirit this song all day!!

Between 1975 and 1998 the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native had twenty five records on the Hot R&B Singles chart, ten made the Top 10 with one* reaching #1, "Turn Your Love Around", for one week in 1982...
