  • The Cup world is starting to get very real for the Challengers and the Defender alike where managing an AC40 and preparing for the first preliminary event later this year while at the same time testing and refining design concepts aboard an LEQ12 test boat to feed into the final design of their AC75 Cup boats, is putting the pressure on. Matt Sheahan takes a close look at what the teams have been up to over the last few months and how each of their preparations compare.

This was an excellent summary of the last six months of AC activity. Although I follow the AC closely, I thought that this was a remarkably well informed summary of the teams' status so far. For sure the 'recon reports' are interesting, and Mozzy Sail's vlog are certainly very insightful, but this was a very well judged assessment. My thanks.

I’m always looking forward for new content on this channel and am a bit disappointed that again we have only fully recycled material from episode 25… No idea whether this tactic in creating more views out of old videos pays of in the long run.

Glad to hear you look forward to it and hope you stick with us. Not everyone watches the features in the OnCourse magazine format, some have said that they prefer to watch individual features so we post these separately

@@PlanetSailOnline I get this - but why not posting the shorter single topic vids as they get ready and rather skip the long combined episodes then? Although I also understand that you are making a living from it (at least partially) and need to maximize views…
I personally just find it slightly disappointing for your subscribers to be teased to new content only to find out there isn’t really new information there. For the sake of transparency I would also appreciate if you could mark the paid advertising vids as such. Most of them are of interest to me anyways, but clear distinction preferred (no complaint you do them from my side; fully legitimate as we get your journalist output for free).

@@matthiasteubner1923 Because the long form videos are also popular, some viewers say they like a single long watch. If features have previously been broadcast in OnCourse we include this in the description and sometimes even on the video itself. Re transparency for commercial features, we always tick the CZcams box to notify viewers that there is paid for content which is then highlighted at the top of the video at the beginning.

I agree with the comments made and understand the PlanetSail replies, but a lot of testing has been done in the past two months which could’ve been covered and improved the sweetening of better to come.
We enjoy getting updates but not the same information with a change of headlines only.

In a way they're becoming catamarans with twin hulls and crew who stay put in each hull...

These designs remind me of the hydrofoils from Britian to France across the Channel. Bring back traditional sailing and keep the hull in the water.

Seriously? Name one team currently sailing with a single helm who crosses the boat. Oh, maybe USA on their B1. USA LOL.

Awful boats and an insult to the Cup. They could have and should have been thin supermaxis with full active crews instead of these junk fly-by-wire contraptions and the endless pursuit of technical speed at all costs. For shame, NZL.

The Americas Cup has nothing at all to do with sailing or racing. It's just technology.
