I’m totally fine with red dots being taken away. They could change it to where you only see red dots on the map when you get a uav/personal radar. I don’t think seeing a teammate outline is the answer.

I think it’s kind of cool, like it seems more immersive now, and it takes away how you can see someone on a radar because of gunshot, just use your ears and eyes, I think it’s a good move

Out of the youtubers I've seen talk and review the game so far, none of them talked about the enemy's red ping notification on the compass above. If they have that along with seeing your teammates through walls than that's enough for me. I'm fine without needing a minimap but then again I agree with what Joel Emslie and you said about having to experience it yourself rather than relying on what youtubers are saying. Can't wait for the Beta
EJM3 exactly every youtuber ive seen review mw has moaned about no map but has failed to mention the compass at the top shows direction of enemy shooting. With the compass and then the white outline of teammates being added, i think its a good system and different

@@lukemcgarry6771 Mini map allows me too see my allies and the map layout and if an enemy shoots without a silencer I can see their location and either flank them or rush them and if someone is camping and they're picking off my allies I can see they exact location with the red dot.
Recap of why you no longer need radar:
1) Devs have confirmed that in newer builds of the game teammates have a glowing outline so you'll know their location.
2) Friendlies already have blue nabla markers above their heads that display their position.
3) The compass at the top of the screen shows not only the direction enemy gun fire, but also its general distance from you.
And it also teaches people to be more aware of their surroundings, this is all good in my eyes
ahh so instead of glancing at the mini map ill have to do a 360 to see where all my mates are.. meh.. i can see it getting me killed.. also, if they want realism, UR MATER ARENT OUTLINED AND THERE IS NO COMPASS IN WAR EITHER.

It will, and it’s a fact. They’re making the same mistake they made with the satcom in Ghosts or the ghost perk in BO1 (ironically both of these mistakes were mini map related). I can GUARANTEE you camping will increase dramatically and therefore the pacing of the game will decrease dramatically. When you consider this on top of the fact that the TTK is very fast it is clear that camping will absolutely break this game

There are a few options I can think of to make this situation appeal to all sides of the debate. To achieve this, there should be a mini map.
One solution is to include the mini map and to not show red dots without UAV.
They could also not show red dots unless you have a perk for it.
This next option is my favorite. They could only show red dots within a short range of yourself. This option is my favorite because you can still see your teammates and it doesn’t necessarily make everybody crutch on the uav. They could also have a perk that lets you see the whole map or just increase the range you can see red dots from

No minimap makes you a better player overall. Having to watch your corners and keep your head on a swivel is good long term
im somewhat fine with the no minimap, but it slows the game down in a way, and I'm usually a person who runs around with smgs, and I'll have to be a but more careful. but it'll still be a great game otherwise

TmarTn, two things you didn't talk about
1. Blue Triangles. They're over the heads of your teammates at all times, and you can see them through walls, even in "realism mode" (In essence a basic version of the teammate outline, so...kinda redundant to have the outline?)
2. On the compass, you can see the red dots of enemy fire. So you can still see where enemies are shooting and where they are located.

No you can’t see where they are located, you can only see direction it came from. They could be behind the wall or they could be across the map doesn’t really help much. And they only show up if you are facing with in a certain range. Nothing will show up if they are behind you. Plus that doesn’t really matter. I’m more concerned with knowing where teammates are at. I get the blue triangle over there heads so that might help a bit. Gotta play it first to get a feel for it and see how it plays.

Yeah because seeing team mates through walls is realistic. Getting shot in the head, walking it off and feeling fine a few seconds later is realistic. Getting skimmed in the toe by a knife and dying instantly is realistic.
CoD is not and never will be realistic. If CoD players want a little more realism they’ll play hardcore, it exists for a reason. Playing CoD for its realism is like chewing gum for its nutrition.
I do kinda like no mini map. It sounds like you will have to rely more on skill rather than being to look at the top corner and know almost the exact place a person is.

If anything make it so where when you pull up the score board you can R1, RB or scroll over to the right, you see a full layout of the map. OR when you pause the game you get all of your usual options, and on the right side of the screen you see the entire map.

Coming from playing hardcore and core. I enjoyed not having a mini map. It made me actually be more aware when playing and know when enemies are shooting and when it’s teammates. There are way too many people that camp but call it “holding an area down” all cause they can see when enemies are coming. I shouldn’t be forced to put a silencer on some weapons cause the all mighty map is gonna give my EXACT location away.
No minimap sounds amazing. I think it’s a fantastic idea.
Look at the compass at the top. When enemies shoot it shows a red icon and looks like it grows the closer you are to that enemy. Wonder if that’s in all game modes? We’ll see

Hardcore players have been playing without a minimap for years. No biggie. My fear is because the majority of players are Core players, who will be thrown into the game without their comfort blanket, will resort to camping in order to get their kills. As much as I have been craving this game for a long time, nothing is worse than habitual campers. If this game turns into a campfest, I don't know if I will be able to stick with it. Shame, because it looks like it's going to be legendary. I hope I'm wrong.

I honestly do like the fact that there won’t be a radar and just like you said people have become very dependent on it. They constantly look at the mini map more than the actual game itself. We have asked for a new and better CoD and now we are getting it but for some reason other people are so indecisive and they don’t know what they want as soon as something new comes up they crawl into a shell or curl up in a ball because Cod is “too different, or it’s not the same” So i honestly believe it’s a good thing that the mini map is taken out.
P.S. I am a competitive core player

@@romainvicta7392 In my opinion, no minimap is a step towards the future as the new generation is all about immersion. For instance, the reason WHY minimaps were put in earlier generation FPS games was to establish spacial awareness of critical objects and people as earlier game engines were not capable of doing so with the resources they had at hand. With newer visuals in 2019, top-tier sound design, and some sort of teammate marking system that it looks like the devs have implemented, I have confidence Activision can accomplish everything that a minimap could do and more in this new CoD.
the42monarch _ there’s battlefield communities that play without mini maps. Once a map is learned and spawns are changed game flow will be a lot different. In the 20v20 it seems people are spawning randomly behind their team unlike battlefield where u can pick and be in constant battle.

I think having no minimap would be a welcomed change on the smaller team gamemodes (FFA, 2v2, 6v6) but anything higher than that could use a minimap to see what objectives your team is attacking and where on the giant map your buddy is at, etc. etc.
I feel like Treyarch might attack this topic next year, but instead of healing with LB or L1 like in BO4, there's a minimap on your left wrist, with only being able to hipfire while it's out
I’m sure this is unlikely to happen too often but the only things that concerns me with no mini map is the amount of camping that’ll take place (which happens with a mini map anyways) and the lack of exploration that’ll happen in the games. I think this is going to be a great game all around and the realism of it is something that really has caught my eye. Excited for this!!

Hardocre game-mode player and former soldier here. There are no mini maps in the field. You rely on your senses so I applaud them for making the game more realistic but not realistic at the same time.
No but you have a actual, map, a GPS, and a about a dozen different types of ISR. Doesn’t matter if you play hard core or not, I also play hard care but I know the maps and can tell when spawns flip.
There’s also no quickscoping, dropshotting or health regen on the field either so what’s your point? You’re literally applauding them for sitting on the fence. You play hardcore so stay on hardcore. I play core so I want the game to play like core. If I wanted to play like hardcore I would play hardcore
Honestly I love this game but reading maps is an important skill. It allows you to know where the spawns are or where enemy are. It takes time to learn how to read maps and flow of each game.

Dude the compass at the top is just like a mini map. It tells you where the obj is and what direction your enemies are as they shoot. I think the mini map not being in always is a good change and takes a crutch away from players that people have relied on for too long
Why is he complaining about minimap when your compass lights up the direction enemies are shooting... that’s a guide to know where to go...

I think no mini map would be fine. At the beginning it might be a little tough but after a while , learning the maps it should be fine
Play hardcore for a while and you learn to love having no mini map. In fact you thrive without it. I do.
It's not normal COD. You have learn the maps and be strategic with your movements and actually think about your next move and where you are it's going to be team based and your gonna have to rely on your team mates

They really made the sounds of the game so superb and so immersive that it makes you want to be more aware of where the enemy may be when you hear them to the point where you wouldn't even want to focus your attention on a mini map. It would be a distraction from your environment and it'll get you killed a lot based on the innovation of this game. Also for those that complain that its too slow, it's because it takes place in the modern era. Realistically you would move a lot slower as actual soldier carrying all that gear around. Its just some of y'all are too used to advanced warfare eras where you have super suits, super guns, and super abilities. This new game is way to readapt and construct a new set of tactical skills. Thats what gaming is all about. Your not a true gamer if you cry about not getting your usual routine. A true gamer will be good at any game with practice.

Well you can already do have no map in hardcore. It is what I am doing, playing on hardcore now.

I think it will make the game much more unpredictable and your forced to play more smart and tactical because of it but at the same time it does promote camping as they won't know where you are but I think it could make for some fun, intense and unpredictable matches

I don't really mind that there's no mini map, my take on it is that it will stop people spawn killing others so easily like in the majority of previous titles. And there's compass at the top of the screen so it'll give you some indication of where enemies are located. The UAV will probably be a 'go to' killstreak as well because of how much you'll benefit from using it.
One point you touched on was something I didn't understand about everyone's initial videos. For so long everyone has been complaining that CoD doesn't change or try innovate, as soon as CoD tries to change some of its core everyones screaming "it's just not the cod were used to!"
