- After splitting MLS Cup titles in 2016 and 2017 at Toronto's BMO Field, the tie-breaking the showdown between Seattle Sounders FC and Toronto FC takes place at CenturyLink Field in Seattle, WA to decide the Audi 2019 MLS Cup Playoffs champion televised on ESPN to a national audience.

I admire how Seattle roots for their MLS team. That whole PNW area loves their soccer. I wish other MLS teams had such fanbases.

@@heyaw.206 WE WILL get our Sonics back one day, were screwed over by both the NBA and Clay Bennett, NO EXCUSES now that we have Climate Pledge Arena as opposed to the former structure underneath that very same roof in which was previously The Key.
Add in there a very game Seattle Kraken, in which is making this old (soon-to-be-former) LA Kings fan of 47 years (LA-born in 1966, moved to Port Townsend, WA in 1987) want to change his stripes to Kraken double blue, and a proven serial winner in the Seattle Storm who have won the WNBA title many times, and of course the Sounders, Mariners and Seahawks and you have a world class city with world class teams in all 6 major leagues (and yes I DO include both MLS and the WNBA amongst them)
That crowd was insane... BIG POP for the Sounders! That's the thing about Seattle fans, they travel well and support their teams. Football (either one) is loved in Seattle!

Seattle's fans have been like this for over 40 years of the clubs existence. The best game to attend (outside of this years MLS Cup) is the annual Portland - Seattle derby. It is the rare time the club opens up the upper decks and an average of 66,000 show for the home game. In the game in Portland, their fans are just as rabid, although they play in a much smaller stadium (and this rivalry dates back to 1975, with the intensity that goes with any international club derby you find around the world). MLS missed out for 15 years not having Portland and Seattle in MLS, the fans are what make soccer special.
@@dakers2052 Um... CLink is actually fully open for every match. Sounders add 300 level sections of seats to fill demand.
@@Golfnut_2099 - Although the upper levels may be "open", the Sounders do not sell tickets to them (except for rare instances). This is per an interview with Garth Lagerway last year (when asked why the team does not open up the upper decks for sale). The team set a goal of 42,000 fans per game, and they wanted to keep this number to create a "sell out" atmosphere. His words, not mine.

If they do the same next season, look the day before the game and you can get seats in the upper deck... NOT reseller tickets...
alberto deleon nothing is more beautiful when MLS Clubs own giant stadiums and they fill them up. This is why Seattle and Atlanta are so good with home advantages. I’ve went to MLS Cup final last year and it was amazing. Now I have to see the Sounders!

I'm from England and support Aston villa who play in premier League but you know what this ain't bad. not bad at all. I am impressed by the crowd enthusiasm. MLS is sure growing. I do like checking up on MLS and I can see It's definitely getting bigger and better. Can't believe it's taken so long though.
In the Seattle area it seems like I and all of my friends grew up playing. The Sounders have been a fixture in the area that entire time, so there's an entire generation which grew up with them and packed the stadium the moment they entered MLS. I can't speak with absolute certainty, but I believe in other parts of the U.S.A. American Football is a more common game for kids to play. in this region however, it's been Soccer for at least the last 40 years.

I was lucky to be there and the crowd was very subdued in the first-half bc Toronto played so well. The party got started with the first goal and by the time the third went in it was so much fun in the stands. My favorite was that when Altidore scored the crowd barely noticed as we were in celebration mode.
Cause we didn't care. His goal was just a consolation goal for them.
