I remember when Fortnite was focused more on story and collabs was just a fun advertisment. Now of how many collabs we have in a short time I feel like lore of this game is nothing important and this is just a big crossover game to make the most money possible.

Other than that I don’t really have any complaints about it and at the end of the day as long as I’m enjoying playing Fortnite I’m fine with miscellaneous things like the UI being changed.
What Fortnite forgets about collabs: giving the skins edit styles. For example, the Avatar skins had plenty of inspiration from the show to draw from, yet none of the skins had edit styles, except for Aang, since he had two skins, and they made people pay 2000 for each skin

I absolutely love how Metallica, Solid Snake, Raiden and Peter Griffin is in Fortnite but my most used skins are Fortnite original skins. I really do hope Epic realizes people also like the originality Fortnite has and not double down on collabs. Also I agree on making The Rock the face of The Foundation was the worst decision Epic has made to the storyline

@@BobBob-king Idk who you’re calling a weirdo but you’re missing the point of what I’m trying to say. Secret skins always led up to the cause of the mini event of that current season. Leading to the continuation of the story for the next, upcoming season. Perfect examples like the Visitor (from Ch1S4), Singularity (from Ch1S9) and so on. Collabs that are part of the Battle Pass have no relevance for that season and are JUST PLAINLY THERE for a quick cash grab. To give the BP more bang for your buck. (which leads to bigger problems that I dare not mention) I have no problem with collabs but the lack of creativity when it comes to their OWN originality is pretty much nonexistent. Just seeing weeks upon weeks of endless collabs and icon TikTok emotes is just getting repetitively dull at this point.
I really agree with this, I think ch 1 season 5 did that concept so well and for some reason they really didn’t do a whole lot more with that concept. Yeah there was a couple skins like that later down the line, but ragnarok and drift just felt so right. Unfortunately I got my first battle pass in ch2 season 3 so I couldn’t really get to experience that type of skin.
Im in a minority camp that thinks they already spend too much effort on collabs , there's a limited amount of updates per season and when loads of them start being about collabs I don't really care about instead of the theme of the season, I loose interest fast Fortnitemares has also been killed by collabs in my opinion, no longer is it about spooky elements of fn like the cube, storm king, chrome. Last year they put no effort in and it was literally just buy the Michael myres skin event

With Marvel characters, it's a lot different they're actually probably going to get referenced again, because the fact that Disney is a shareholder in epic games, meaning that most likely we'll get more Marvel stuff storyline related that will be referenced again more often
As someone who enjoys and loves Metallica, I honestly felt Metallica collab and fallout collab in the battle pass was what saved the recent season for a little bit before this season has became mid. It was a fun idea of having modded cars but once after for awhile it's been rather annoying cause it's usually the only way to win these days especially with the medallions
IMO it's almost an unsolvable problem, the skins are so cheap and the volume sold means the devs can't really focus on any individual skin for too long. Even collabs come and go with less fanfare than they deserve. The end-season Collab passes are honestly a blessing because it always comes with new items in BR.
Them also making Brie Larson Paradigm was also horrible. Paradigm was clearly meant to be Singularity and it sucks we didn’t see that happen. Also I will never forgive Epic for ruining Chapter 3 and its storyline just to show off new graphics
One thing I think what ruined Collabs for me is the passion put into it. Collabs nowadays feels so forced and it just feels like Epic is running out of ideas for content for the season so they just bring out a Collab expecting that to keep us busy for the next few weeks. The same ol’ Mini-Battle pass, extra item shop skins, the boring quests, and the new item update is getting extremely boring because it doesn’t ever feel different. The only times I’ve ever genuinely enjoyed a Mid-season Collab was Dragon Ball and the Star Wars thing from last year because it felt different compared to the others. (Gameplay wise) I don’t think Epic is gonna be changing their ways any time soon though cause why would they if they can make an extra few bucks. One thing I think they forget about Collabs is what made their Collabs good in the first place. Collabs back in the day felt like actual Collabs from John wick, to Deadpool, and to an entire Marvel season. They felt special because you can feel the ideas and personality put into it and how it actually feels like it impacted the game in some way. Major collabs nowadays just feel so soulless and it feels like Epic just does it for the sake of it rather than actually putting any actual personality into it. It’s the same boring and repetitive gimmick every time and it sucks to see these collabs being treated as more of a material rather than an actual collab.
I'm still hoping for the fortnite MMO to exist. You can make original characters, make storylines big and small, and basically do things that a BR game can't do. It will be peak. STW doesn't scratch this itch because it has a story, but it doesn't develop it like other RPGs do. You can do a WoW with an ever evolving and expanding world. Visit different dimensions and realities like Fox Clan, Ice Kingdom, Vampire High Schools, etc. Like there's a lot of flavor already baked into the cosmetics, and doing this would really make the Fortnite IP much bigger.
The one thing I hate that epic games is doing is that they stopped putting effort into story and live events, the core thing that made this game so iconic, just for this metaverse thing. It’s losing its sadly losing its Fortnite touch
My whole thing with Fortnite is while I feel it's dope that we get all these cool collabs, I kind of miss their original inspired designs. I would kill for just a throw back to their old stuff. A whole battle pass etc. No collabs. Just a battlepass with NEW original skins. When they add collabs, they bring in new items inspired by that collab. It makes the loot pool polluted in BR and even from a casual standpoint it's frustrating in a season like this one where I don't enjoy it, but I enjoy playing with friends. I'm looking for EMPs and I just find Flint Knocks (I know Fortnite made this in Ch1.) Magneto Gloves (It works, but EMPs are king) and the soon to be Pirates ship mythic. I'm thankful for the cool stuff, but I wish these collabs would just have their own LTM. It'd be a fun crazy way to let loose and enjoy it.

One issue I've had with collabs lately is that they've felt a lot more focused on popular and trendy media, which is just going to get boring and predictable. I wish we could get something a little more niche like Mega Man X since that would be a lot more surprising and also give more attention to these lesser known series.
I started at the tail end of Chapter 4 season 1. I like collabs personally. What I don't like about them is their mythics dominating the entire battle royale, like water bending did for ch 5 season 2. My other complaint about collabs is they should never be locked away in the vault forever. I don't care what the battle pass says or how anybody else feels, it should be 2 years of exclusivity then the collab skin gets added to the shop. Without the super styles, because people still should get to show off, but it's weird to me that a kid that's growing up now and love fortnite can never obtain skins like Superman, Aquaman, Raven, Spider-man, Iron Man, etc.
I think your point around 10:30 is really good because one of my favorite concepts for collabs were the early marvel skins and the brite bomber skin that came out with the falcon skin. I really like the fortnite characters wearing marvel suits and I think its a very unexplored concept.
I think personally that collab characters just should not exist in the Battle Royale mode in both Story and BP Bonus Challenge at all. Story wise is like you said, makes the part pointless since they can't do a whole lot with a character unless greenlit by the company, but the Bonus Challenge forces the additions of Collab specific items that are either intoxicating or pointless, I think Peter Griffin is fine since he's in the map as a supporting character and doesn't affect the rest of the game besides a anyperson attainable mythic, but I feel Snake wasn't good because his items we're underwhelming and thats fine but Korra and Magneto have Mythics that are barely fun to fight.
At the core of all this is greed. Greed has destroyed creativity, you see it in the film industry as well where everyone is just doing remakes of already established stories knowing that is easier and cheaper, less risky since its already established with ppl, and that a lot of people will buy it due to the fact that it being a already popular established story will get people hyped up and get them to consume that content, same with Fortnite, these collabs create hype and bring in consumers, consumerists will consume, and greedy Epic will make shit tonne of money. There's no longer creativity with anything.Though I gotta admit, as a Marvel and Star Wars fan it is really cool getting to have such skins. However, I have two issues when it comes to collab in Fortnite, one being the obvious that theyre doing too much with almost every single piece of media, like sure doing collabs with large franchises like DC, Marvel and Star Wars is cool but Epic has just stretched it way too far. And my second issue has got to do with collab some collab skins being exclusive to the Crew Pass or Battle Pass or exclusive in general. This creates problems for fans lets say that didn't play in Chapter 2 Season 4 and their favourite Marvel character is Thor but too bad cuz it was a battle pass skin. And Epic knows its a problem, the greed comes back, and they just release another Thor skin in the item shop knowing ppl will buy it. Same with Spiderman, Wolverine, etc. And don't forget that we have two separate Luke Skywalker skins when we could've had one with multiple styles. I honestly missed out on the later half of Chapter 2, all of Chapter 3 and the earlier half of chapter 4. Lot of content that I know will never return but couldn’t care less at this point. Collabs should never be included in their battle passes for sure but if they want to continue to go down this route, let them. They’re clearly destroying their own uniqueness of creativity; not to mention next season is just another Marvel collab filled Battle Pass… which is just meh 🫤
I think my biggest issue with the cosmetics now is that Epic Games either defaults to making another Marvel character or another cosmetic for a character we already have a ton of cosmetics for (Cuddle Team, Peely, Brite Bomber, Meowscles, Fish Stick, etc). We have so many old battle pass characters that would be cool to have an alternate cosmetic for. Make an alternate skin for Dire, Sidewinder, or Valor instead of another Peely I won't end up buying.
A few things I didn’t really like about this recent Pirates collab is the severe lack of actual Pirates music. I really thought we would’ve gotten at least He’s a Pirate as a lobby track or something. The legally distinct He’s a Pirate that plays with his running emote really throws me off and speaking of that, I so think that if this was done back a year or two, he’d have his iconic run as a unique running animation
Another thing is what you said about Reaper. Their collab or parity skins used to be just nods to characters. Or just characters in the Fortnite style. Now all the Collab skins look straight outta the movie not looking like Fortnite at all. Lost its charm I feel a lil.

As an outsider of the game the sheer amount of collabs constantly coming to the game makes it less desirable to play, as it feels to soulless, and not like it’s own thing
Fortnite is as fun to me now as it was when I started in Chapter 1, collabs don't detract from that fun, they're optional cosmetics, and I don't expect every collab to have an LTM or a Mythic, that's unrealistic Also the Battle Royale game never had a good story

Man, Fortnite is only focused on the short term financial gain of collabs. They think that collabs are their biggest source of profit, which they can be, but only for the first and second time they come to the game. So, if they create their own unique and fun skins like they used to, they don’t have to pay any royalties or rights fees to be able to use them. They could take in 100% of the profit. And long term, that would pay off way more. Because they can create an iconic skin like Peely, drift, or Midas, and then create a bunch of spinoff skins. All of which, would not need licensing fees paid to use them. Not only would that make them more money over time, but it would make their own game more iconic.
As much as I enjoy collabs, I can admit that some of them have been treated poorly. Gone were the days of seeing amazing trailers for collabs like MHA, TMNT, Dragon Ball, etc. I hated how they did Avatar. Not just by replacing the greek mythics, but also overpricing the cosmetics like hell without giving them edit styles, more emotes, or even gliders like with Aang & Korra. Not to mention how much they've been locking iconic collabs behind battle passes forever, which is STILL a boneheaded decision. I'm excited for the upcoming collabs, but Epic really has to do a better job at them.
i completely agree with you that fortnite is a whole ad for celebs and characters and that fortnite is bundled up with colabs. for example the nexus war season was a whole marvel season that changed the game in a good way since its the most popular season fortnite had we just dont need all these colabs that dont change anything for fortnite and what happened top fortnite but i prefer the ch2 graphics and the old models of iron man for for example cuz its simple and classic it was we need the style of ch2 to come back
Honestly the problem with collabs is the fact that epic choses quantity over quality. I would rather have 1 collab every 1/2 months that feel cool, instead of a collab every week or 2.
i'm on your side i remember when we first git thanos in fortnite ans how wild that was i remember the endgame collab Gamemode more though and had a blast there was also the fortnite marvel skins of star lord and black widow which are some of the best marvel skins still imo i also wanna quickly mention the locking of iconic characters behind the battlepass too i can't imagine playing the game today and going "THEY HAVE MARVEL CHARACTERS?!?!?!" going to go find iron man only to realise that the only ironman you can get is one thats in the item shop but extremely bulky in game but the actual skin is locked behind a pass that was 3 years ago and is now no longer available i hate collaborations in the battlepass, i used to like it when the secret skins were actually secret skins, i remember gossiping with my friends about the season 7 secret skin and unlocking all of his edit styles and now its just no longer a secret, its never a secret anymore and i hate that, and even if it is a secret its still annoyingly almost always going to be a collab cause thats what we've come to expect with fortnite ita literally the only way they can get people to buy the battlepass super effectively
Idk it feels like I own the cosmetics especially compared to other games like Warzone, 2K, Madden.. I payed a ton of money on Warzone 1 and thought it was going to be like Fortnite and get to keep them “forever” but once the next Warzone came out I couldn’t use all the stuff I just bought.. same goes with 2K and Madden they charge you to gamble for players all year long and hit the reset button.. Fortnite’s cosmetics to me feels like the better purchase everytime
There’s ways to integrate the collabs into the storyline without worrying about copyright… Chapter 2 is when I’d say Fortnite storyline was at its peak and at least to my memory, that chapter was crossover heaven… especially towards the middle of it with seasons 4 and 5. What I’ve realized is they add all these new game modes this chapter, which is fine. But they put so much time and effort into these things that it hurt the story and what did they really get out of it? Only successful game mode from the drop was Festival. Put so much time, effort, and money into getting with LEGO and creating a racing UI… and it’s hurting other areas of Fortnite… especially its story… the point of no return imo was UEFN… and really, that’s a whole disaster in itself, want proof? Look at the discovered tab for a minute or two… I guess what I’m trying to say is they need to chill on UEFN, LEGO, Festival, Racing… just relax, step back, let them exist and do their own thing for a while and get back to what made Fortnite so interesting (at least for me) in the first place. I started way back in Chapter 1 Season 3 but what got me REALLY into Fortnite was Chapter 2 Season 2… one of the most lore heavy seasons EVER… still yet to be dethroned as best season. And that is what started the whole crossover per BP thing, so it’s clear to me it’s not a crossover issue…
Thanos was for infinity war and later the avengers weapons and thanos gamemode came for endgame. I loved both of these game modes and i thought all the collabs would be like them.
Im not hyped with the marvel season because is just marvel I like creative and original ideas the thing about the collabs is that is not special anymore so why a season dedicated to it
I believe the simplicity and charm of Fortnites original artstyle played a bigger role in fortnites success than people think. It was charming, visually appealing, made fun concepts like the shopping cart and boogie bomb not feel out of place. And of course brimming with potential for cosmetics and they knew it. Not only has collabs degraded the artstyle but also fortnites identity as just "The game with all the other IPs". This is why i tend to prefer skins like The Reaper and Cuddlepool over John Wick and Deadpool. But maybe thats just me
I really think they need to focus more on the story to me at least the story just went downhill after chapter one chapter one just had a simple easy to follow story they need to bring that essence back into the game get a writer to write something up that isn’t too complicated but makes a good story that we will remember years down the line
The problem is NOT that there's collabs in Fortnite for me, it's the OVERSATURATION of collabs that annoys me. Back then collabs would be an actual event, now there's a damn collab every day you pretty much forget the 99% of the icon emote slop they put out in the shop counts as a collab.

2:16 thanos ltm wasn’t after end game, it when infinity war came out(a tear before end game). When end game came out there was a different ltm. But the one you showed and was great was the first one. Second was completely different
One thing recently, is that often theres just no breathing room between them. Theres constantly some mythic or event going on and we can never just play the season on its own. I dont think this season will ever not have an ongoing colab in BR, PotC is coming before magneto can even leave. Aswell, dont put collab skins in the battle pass, its uncreative and not good for those who dont give a shit about that specific IP. Also PLEASE make a seperate item shop section for colab skins, i hate the weeknd being in the item shop for the 53rd time in 2 days. Also most of the skins styles suck ass and cost too much.
I agree with not having celebrities play main characters and Fortnite doing Ltms for some collabs but the rest I don’t agree with. I think you said it best, what’s a point of making a knock off if you can have the real thing. And if still want knock offs Fortnite recently made a shark skin which could be knock off of King shark or Jaws, this possibly shows that Fortnite can still make knock offs.
I think we should get more verity of crossover skins other then more super heros (I like them) but I would love to see more stuff like transformers there are so many different versions of someone like opitusm prime or Megatron
It’s sad to see the state of some of the characters. Jonesy’s character has lost a tremendous amount of development by becoming cocky and a jerk. The Imagined is dead, Paradym is dead, The Seven has been chromed to who-knows. AMIE is still searching for the Scientist. The Last Reality has stopped trying to reach the Zero Point. In fact, the Zero Point has had no importance in the story or game since the Big Bang. Slone has been hidden and hasn’t been shown yet. Hope is actually a good character so far. Fortnite’s entire story revolved around factions who fought against eachother to control the Zero Point’s power for good or for evil; that needs to return.

this is were i say epic games has an identity problem. like ya its cool that we get these things and i dont mind them becoming cosmetics, but we get it almost all the time, and it always seems to derail the main hype and theme of this season. thats why i never liked the idea of having marvel, star wars, or any collabe based weapons in the main loop pool of a season. if you really want to make a fun collab, make a gamemode thats themed around the collab. litterly some of the best gamemodes we ever had did that and worked, so why not continue it. i remember a time were everyone was hating season 8 of chapter 1, but when the avengers gamemode came out, people couldn't stop playing the game just from how fun it was. and its not like epic games doesn't have the materials to make there game interesting, like they have a whole locker full of interesting characters, themes, stories, and alot more going to waist.

The collabs felt like big things back then there was a collab poi and an ltm but now it's just ten collab skins sitting everyday in the item shop and a mythic item but klarque if you ever talk about skins please i would like to see you make a video on battlepasses and how they have been low effort it's not that important of a video but I would like to see it

Collabs are really great for Fortnite I love that we get a mini event pass event every season or almost every season but I feel like there needs to be more content added to the mini event pass events like an LTM imagine we got an LTM for Pirates of the Caribbean alongside the content we are already getting for the event and I have 2 ideas for what the LTM would be number 1 the LTM would be normal BR but only with pirate cannons, the flintlock, treasure maps, and the ship in a bottle mythic along with heals and the other idea I have for the LTM if we got one would be there would be 2 teams with 2 pirate ships team one would be Jack Sparrow's team and team 2 will be Davy Jones's team and there would be about 16 people on each team and Jack Sparrow's team would spawn on the Black Pearl ship and Davy Jones's team will spawn on the Flying Dutchman and each team will have pirate cannons on their ship and each team will also have a treasure map and the treasure map would lead you to treasure on your team's ship as you can't get off your team's ship and when you find your treasure on your team's ship and dig it and open it you will get the ship in a bottle mythic which you have infinite of them in the LTM and the flintlock which will have infinite ammo in the LTM and once everyone has their ship in a bottle and flintlock the game starts where you have to take down the other team's ship to win by using your ship in a bottle mythic, the flintlock, and pirate cannons and you also have to take down the other team as well so not only do you have to aim for the ship but you also have to aim for the people on the ship and team 1's captain will be Jack Sparrow and team 2's captain will be Davy Jones and they join the fight against the other team and at night something happens to Jack Sparrow's team as the Black Pearl curses everyone on the ship turning them into skeleton versions of themselves meaning they are able to jump off their ship at night to go onto Davy Jones's ship to take down their ship and everyone on board the ship while Davy Jones and his team are trying to take you down on the ship but as a skeleton version of yourself you have loads of health and gain pirate swords and when it's not night the curse of the Black Pearl wears off making you turn back into your original self and it also rifts you back to the Black Pearl and once you take down the other team's ship everyone that hasn't been taken down gets taken down as the ship sinks in water and then your team gets a special victory for Jack Sparrow it would say Jack Sparrow's victory and for Davy Jones it would say Davy Jones's Victory and at night if you are on Jack Sparrow's team and take down Davy Jones's ship then it would say Jack Sparrow's Curse of the Black Pearl victory and the Victory screen will be green
The UI is so unappealing to me that I can’t stand going into the locker. The UI is so bad that I archived over 200 skins just so I could see my favorite ones quickly. I don’t play the game anymore as of last week but I surveil it through videos like this.
I’ve played since chapter 1 season 1 there’s been many times I’ve wanted to quit chapter 2 season 2 (yea I know apparently that season was good but I found it boring) and chapter 4 as a whole and chapter 5 I have now quit lmao since the game is just going to keep going down hill it’s sad but true especially now that Donal d mustard isn’t here as ceo of the game he can’t keep things in check anymore and now Disney has bought part of epic it’s only gonna get more greedy now it’s a shame since I’ve always loved this game.

I remember when Fortnite was focused more on story and collabs was just a fun advertisment. Now of how many collabs we have in a short time I feel like lore of this game is nothing important and this is just a big crossover game to make the most money possible.

Other than that I don’t really have any complaints about it and at the end of the day as long as I’m enjoying playing Fortnite I’m fine with miscellaneous things like the UI being changed.
What Fortnite forgets about collabs: giving the skins edit styles. For example, the Avatar skins had plenty of inspiration from the show to draw from, yet none of the skins had edit styles, except for Aang, since he had two skins, and they made people pay 2000 for each skin
Zuko could’ve had a blue spirit edit style, Toph could’ve had the invasion armor as an edit style, and Katara have her season three version as a style

I absolutely love how Metallica, Solid Snake, Raiden and Peter Griffin is in Fortnite but my most used skins are Fortnite original skins. I really do hope Epic realizes people also like the originality Fortnite has and not double down on collabs.

Remember when secret skins actually HAD an importance of the story for that particular season? Now it’s just Avatar Korra, Magneto or the next Disney collab taking up that slot instead to keep players interested.

Secret skins always led up to the cause of the mini event of that current season. Leading to the continuation of the story for the next, upcoming season. Perfect examples like the Visitor (from Ch1S4), Singularity (from Ch1S9) and so on. Collabs that are part of the Battle Pass have no relevance for that season and are JUST PLAINLY THERE for a quick cash grab. To give the BP more bang for your buck. (which leads to bigger problems that I dare not mention)
I have no problem with collabs but the lack of creativity when it comes to their OWN originality is pretty much nonexistent. Just seeing weeks upon weeks of endless collabs and icon TikTok emotes is just getting repetitively dull at this point.

I really agree with this, I think ch 1 season 5 did that concept so well and for some reason they really didn’t do a whole lot more with that concept. Yeah there was a couple skins like that later down the line, but ragnarok and drift just felt so right. Unfortunately I got my first battle pass in ch2 season 3 so I couldn’t really get to experience that type of skin.
Im in a minority camp that thinks they already spend too much effort on collabs , there's a limited amount of updates per season and when loads of them start being about collabs I don't really care about instead of the theme of the season, I loose interest fast
Fortnitemares has also been killed by collabs in my opinion, no longer is it about spooky elements of fn like the cube, storm king, chrome. Last year they put no effort in and it was literally just buy the Michael myres skin event

With Marvel characters, it's a lot different they're actually probably going to get referenced again, because the fact that Disney is a shareholder in epic games, meaning that most likely we'll get more Marvel stuff storyline related that will be referenced again more often
As someone who enjoys and loves Metallica, I honestly felt Metallica collab and fallout collab in the battle pass was what saved the recent season for a little bit before this season has became mid. It was a fun idea of having modded cars but once after for awhile it's been rather annoying cause it's usually the only way to win these days especially with the medallions
IMO it's almost an unsolvable problem, the skins are so cheap and the volume sold means the devs can't really focus on any individual skin for too long. Even collabs come and go with less fanfare than they deserve. The end-season Collab passes are honestly a blessing because it always comes with new items in BR.
Them also making Brie Larson Paradigm was also horrible. Paradigm was clearly meant to be Singularity and it sucks we didn’t see that happen. Also I will never forgive Epic for ruining Chapter 3 and its storyline just to show off new graphics
One thing I think what ruined Collabs for me is the passion put into it. Collabs nowadays feels so forced and it just feels like Epic is running out of ideas for content for the season so they just bring out a Collab expecting that to keep us busy for the next few weeks. The same ol’ Mini-Battle pass, extra item shop skins, the boring quests, and the new item update is getting extremely boring because it doesn’t ever feel different. The only times I’ve ever genuinely enjoyed a Mid-season Collab was Dragon Ball and the Star Wars thing from last year because it felt different compared to the others. (Gameplay wise) I don’t think Epic is gonna be changing their ways any time soon though cause why would they if they can make an extra few bucks.
One thing I think they forget about Collabs is what made their Collabs good in the first place. Collabs back in the day felt like actual Collabs from John wick, to Deadpool, and to an entire Marvel season. They felt special because you can feel the ideas and personality put into it and how it actually feels like it impacted the game in some way. Major collabs nowadays just feel so soulless and it feels like Epic just does it for the sake of it rather than actually putting any actual personality into it. It’s the same boring and repetitive gimmick every time and it sucks to see these collabs being treated as more of a material rather than an actual collab.
I'm still hoping for the fortnite MMO to exist. You can make original characters, make storylines big and small, and basically do things that a BR game can't do. It will be peak. STW doesn't scratch this itch because it has a story, but it doesn't develop it like other RPGs do. You can do a WoW with an ever evolving and expanding world. Visit different dimensions and realities like Fox Clan, Ice Kingdom, Vampire High Schools, etc. Like there's a lot of flavor already baked into the cosmetics, and doing this would really make the Fortnite IP much bigger.
Yeah, there's a lot of untapped story and world building potential in their original stuff, like the High Stakes Club as ya say.
The one thing I hate that epic games is doing is that they stopped putting effort into story and live events, the core thing that made this game so iconic, just for this metaverse thing. It’s losing its sadly losing its Fortnite touch
My whole thing with Fortnite is while I feel it's dope that we get all these cool collabs, I kind of miss their original inspired designs. I would kill for just a throw back to their old stuff. A whole battle pass etc. No collabs. Just a battlepass with NEW original skins. When they add collabs, they bring in new items inspired by that collab. It makes the loot pool polluted in BR and even from a casual standpoint it's frustrating in a season like this one where I don't enjoy it, but I enjoy playing with friends. I'm looking for EMPs and I just find Flint Knocks (I know Fortnite made this in Ch1.) Magneto Gloves (It works, but EMPs are king) and the soon to be Pirates ship mythic.
I'm thankful for the cool stuff, but I wish these collabs would just have their own LTM. It'd be a fun crazy way to let loose and enjoy it.

One issue I've had with collabs lately is that they've felt a lot more focused on popular and trendy media, which is just going to get boring and predictable. I wish we could get something a little more niche like Mega Man X since that would be a lot more surprising and also give more attention to these lesser known series.
Half the stw mode is references. Just look at the Lars character and his "ride the lightning" missions.
I started at the tail end of Chapter 4 season 1. I like collabs personally. What I don't like about them is their mythics dominating the entire battle royale, like water bending did for ch 5 season 2. My other complaint about collabs is they should never be locked away in the vault forever. I don't care what the battle pass says or how anybody else feels, it should be 2 years of exclusivity then the collab skin gets added to the shop. Without the super styles, because people still should get to show off, but it's weird to me that a kid that's growing up now and love fortnite can never obtain skins like Superman, Aquaman, Raven, Spider-man, Iron Man, etc.
I think your point around 10:30 is really good because one of my favorite concepts for collabs were the early marvel skins and the brite bomber skin that came out with the falcon skin. I really like the fortnite characters wearing marvel suits and I think its a very unexplored concept.
I think personally that collab characters just should not exist in the Battle Royale mode in both Story and BP Bonus Challenge at all. Story wise is like you said, makes the part pointless since they can't do a whole lot with a character unless greenlit by the company, but the Bonus Challenge forces the additions of Collab specific items that are either intoxicating or pointless, I think Peter Griffin is fine since he's in the map as a supporting character and doesn't affect the rest of the game besides a anyperson attainable mythic, but I feel Snake wasn't good because his items we're underwhelming and thats fine but Korra and Magneto have Mythics that are barely fun to fight.
At the core of all this is greed. Greed has destroyed creativity, you see it in the film industry as well where everyone is just doing remakes of already established stories knowing that is easier and cheaper, less risky since its already established with ppl, and that a lot of people will buy it due to the fact that it being a already popular established story will get people hyped up and get them to consume that content, same with Fortnite, these collabs create hype and bring in consumers, consumerists will consume, and greedy Epic will make shit tonne of money. There's no longer creativity with anything.Though I gotta admit, as a Marvel and Star Wars fan it is really cool getting to have such skins. However, I have two issues when it comes to collab in Fortnite, one being the obvious that theyre doing too much with almost every single piece of media, like sure doing collabs with large franchises like DC, Marvel and Star Wars is cool but Epic has just stretched it way too far. And my second issue has got to do with collab some collab skins being exclusive to the Crew Pass or Battle Pass or exclusive in general. This creates problems for fans lets say that didn't play in Chapter 2 Season 4 and their favourite Marvel character is Thor but too bad cuz it was a battle pass skin. And Epic knows its a problem, the greed comes back, and they just release another Thor skin in the item shop knowing ppl will buy it. Same with Spiderman, Wolverine, etc. And don't forget that we have two separate Luke Skywalker skins when we could've had one with multiple styles. I honestly missed out on the later half of Chapter 2, all of Chapter 3 and the earlier half of chapter 4. Lot of content that I know will never return but couldn’t care less at this point. Collabs should never be included in their battle passes for sure but if they want to continue to go down this route, let them. They’re clearly destroying their own uniqueness of creativity; not to mention next season is just another Marvel collab filled Battle Pass… which is just meh 🫤

I think my biggest issue with the cosmetics now is that Epic Games either defaults to making another Marvel character or another cosmetic for a character we already have a ton of cosmetics for (Cuddle Team, Peely, Brite Bomber, Meowscles, Fish Stick, etc). We have so many old battle pass characters that would be cool to have an alternate cosmetic for. Make an alternate skin for Dire, Sidewinder, or Valor instead of another Peely I won't end up buying.
A few things I didn’t really like about this recent Pirates collab is the severe lack of actual Pirates music. I really thought we would’ve gotten at least He’s a Pirate as a lobby track or something. The legally distinct He’s a Pirate that plays with his running emote really throws me off and speaking of that, I so think that if this was done back a year or two, he’d have his iconic run as a unique running animation

Another thing is what you said about Reaper. Their collab or parity skins used to be just nods to characters. Or just characters in the Fortnite style. Now all the Collab skins look straight outta the movie not looking like Fortnite at all. Lost its charm I feel a lil.

I play fortnite for the collabs. They are what brought me to the game during zero build and they are the reason I spend money on the game.
As an outsider of the game the sheer amount of collabs constantly coming to the game makes it less desirable to play, as it feels to soulless, and not like it’s own thing

Fortnite is as fun to me now as it was when I started in Chapter 1, collabs don't detract from that fun, they're optional cosmetics, and I don't expect every collab to have an LTM or a Mythic, that's unrealistic

Man, Fortnite is only focused on the short term financial gain of collabs. They think that collabs are their biggest source of profit, which they can be, but only for the first and second time they come to the game. So, if they create their own unique and fun skins like they used to, they don’t have to pay any royalties or rights fees to be able to use them. They could take in 100% of the profit. And long term, that would pay off way more. Because they can create an iconic skin like Peely, drift, or Midas, and then create a bunch of spinoff skins. All of which, would not need licensing fees paid to use them. Not only would that make them more money over time, but it would make their own game more iconic.

As much as I enjoy collabs, I can admit that some of them have been treated poorly. Gone were the days of seeing amazing trailers for collabs like MHA, TMNT, Dragon Ball, etc. I hated how they did Avatar. Not just by replacing the greek mythics, but also overpricing the cosmetics like hell without giving them edit styles, more emotes, or even gliders like with Aang & Korra.
Not to mention how much they've been locking iconic collabs behind battle passes forever, which is STILL a boneheaded decision. I'm excited for the upcoming collabs, but Epic really has to do a better job at them.

Idk it feels like I own the cosmetics especially compared to other games like Warzone, 2K, Madden.. I payed a ton of money on Warzone 1 and thought it was going to be like Fortnite and get to keep them “forever” but once the next Warzone came out I couldn’t use all the stuff I just bought.. same goes with 2K and Madden they charge you to gamble for players all year long and hit the reset button.. Fortnite’s cosmetics to me feels like the better purchase everytime

There’s ways to integrate the collabs into the storyline without worrying about copyright… Chapter 2 is when I’d say Fortnite storyline was at its peak and at least to my memory, that chapter was crossover heaven… especially towards the middle of it with seasons 4 and 5. What I’ve realized is they add all these new game modes this chapter, which is fine. But they put so much time and effort into these things that it hurt the story and what did they really get out of it? Only successful game mode from the drop was Festival. Put so much time, effort, and money into getting with LEGO and creating a racing UI… and it’s hurting other areas of Fortnite… especially its story… the point of no return imo was UEFN… and really, that’s a whole disaster in itself, want proof? Look at the discovered tab for a minute or two…
I guess what I’m trying to say is they need to chill on UEFN, LEGO, Festival, Racing… just relax, step back, let them exist and do their own thing for a while and get back to what made Fortnite so interesting (at least for me) in the first place. I started way back in Chapter 1 Season 3 but what got me REALLY into Fortnite was Chapter 2 Season 2… one of the most lore heavy seasons EVER… still yet to be dethroned as best season. And that is what started the whole crossover per BP thing, so it’s clear to me it’s not a crossover issue…

Thanos was for infinity war and later the avengers weapons and thanos gamemode came for endgame. I loved both of these game modes and i thought all the collabs would be like them.
Im not hyped with the marvel season because is just marvel I like creative and original ideas the thing about the collabs is that is not special anymore so why a season dedicated to it
I believe the simplicity and charm of Fortnites original artstyle played a bigger role in fortnites success than people think. It was charming, visually appealing, made fun concepts like the shopping cart and boogie bomb not feel out of place. And of course brimming with potential for cosmetics and they knew it.
Not only has collabs degraded the artstyle but also fortnites identity as just "The game with all the other IPs".
This is why i tend to prefer skins like The Reaper and Cuddlepool over John Wick and Deadpool.

One thing recently, is that often theres just no breathing room between them. Theres constantly some mythic or event going on and we can never just play the season on its own. I dont think this season will ever not have an ongoing colab in BR, PotC is coming before magneto can even leave.

I agree with not having celebrities play main characters and Fortnite doing Ltms for some collabs but the rest I don’t agree with. I think you said it best, what’s a point of making a knock off if you can have the real thing. And if still want knock offs Fortnite recently made a shark skin which could be knock off of King shark or Jaws, this possibly shows that Fortnite can still make knock offs.

It’s sad to see the state of some of the characters. Jonesy’s character has lost a tremendous amount of development by becoming cocky and a jerk. The Imagined is dead, Paradym is dead, The Seven has been chromed to who-knows. AMIE is still searching for the Scientist. The Last Reality has stopped trying to reach the Zero Point. In fact, the Zero Point has had no importance in the story or game since the Big Bang. Slone has been hidden and hasn’t been shown yet. Hope is actually a good character so far. Fortnite’s entire story revolved around factions who fought against eachother to control the Zero Point’s power for good or for evil; that needs to return.

this is were i say epic games has an identity problem. like ya its cool that we get these things and i dont mind them becoming cosmetics, but we get it almost all the time, and it always seems to derail the main hype and theme of this season. thats why i never liked the idea of having marvel, star wars, or any collabe based weapons in the main loop pool of a season. if you really want to make a fun collab, make a gamemode thats themed around the collab. litterly some of the best gamemodes we ever had did that and worked, so why not continue it. i remember a time were everyone was hating season 8 of chapter 1, but when the avengers gamemode came out, people couldn't stop playing the game just from how fun it was.
and its not like epic games doesn't have the materials to make there game interesting, like they have a whole locker full of interesting characters, themes, stories, and alot more going to waist.

I like collabs, but yeah, i feel they're done best with something to interact with the gamplay or theme season like in ch2s4. The collabs felt like big things back then there was a collab poi and an ltm but now it's just ten collab skins sitting everyday in the item shop and a mythic item but klarque if you ever talk about skins please i would like to see you make a video on battlepasses and how they have been low effort it's not that important of a video but I would like to see it

Collabs are really great for Fortnite I love that we get a mini event pass event every season or almost every season but I feel like there needs to be more content added to the mini event pass events like an LTM imagine we got an LTM for Pirates of the Caribbean alongside the content we are already getting for the event and I have 2 ideas for what the LTM would be number 1 the LTM would be normal BR but only with pirate cannons, the flintlock, treasure maps, and the ship in a bottle mythic along with heals and the other idea I have for the LTM if we got one would be there would be 2 teams with 2 pirate ships team one would be Jack Sparrow's team and team 2 will be Davy Jones's team and there would be about 16 people on each team and Jack Sparrow's team would spawn on the Black Pearl ship and Davy Jones's team will spawn on the Flying Dutchman and each team will have pirate cannons on their ship and each team will also have a treasure map and the treasure map would lead you to treasure on your team's ship as you can't get off your team's ship and when you find your treasure on your team's ship and dig it and open it you will get the ship in a bottle mythic which you have infinite of them in the LTM and the flintlock which will have infinite ammo in the LTM and once everyone has their ship in a bottle and flintlock the game starts where you have to take down the other team's ship to win by using your ship in a bottle mythic, the flintlock, and pirate cannons and you also have to take down the other team as well so not only do you have to aim for the ship but you also have to aim for the people on the ship and team 1's captain will be Jack Sparrow and team 2's captain will be Davy Jones and they join the fight against the other team and at night something happens to Jack Sparrow's team as the Black Pearl curses everyone on the ship turning them into skeleton versions of themselves meaning they are able to jump off their ship at night to go onto Davy Jones's ship to take down their ship and everyone on board the ship while Davy Jones and his team are trying to take you down on the ship but as a skeleton version of yourself you have loads of health and gain pirate swords and when it's not night the curse of the Black Pearl wears off making you turn back into your original self and it also rifts you back to the Black Pearl and once you take down the other team's ship everyone that hasn't been taken down gets taken down as the ship sinks in water and then your team gets a special victory for Jack Sparrow it would say Jack Sparrow's victory and for Davy Jones it would say Davy Jones's Victory and at night if you are on Jack Sparrow's team and take down Davy Jones's ship then it would say Jack Sparrow's Curse of the Black Pearl victory and the Victory screen will be green

The UI is so unappealing to me that I can’t stand going into the locker. The UI is so bad that I archived over 200 skins just so I could see my favorite ones quickly. I don’t play the game anymore as of last week but I surveil it through videos like this.
I’ve played since chapter 1 season 1 there’s been many times I’ve wanted to quit chapter 2 season 2 (yea I know apparently that season was good but I found it boring) and chapter 4 as a whole and chapter 5 I have now quit lmao since the game is just going to keep going down hill it’s sad but true especially now that Donal d mustard isn’t here as ceo of the game he can’t keep things in check anymore and now Disney has bought part of epic it’s only gonna get more greedy now it’s a shame since I’ve always loved this game.
