Alesis ADAT: Tips for the Archiving Community

An under-the-hood overview of the electro-mechanical and technical aspects of the adat format. My goal is to provide insight into transfer issues - Is it the tape? The transport or alignment ? The electronics? Or the Power supply?
This video is the third in a series - the first two covered the DAT format. A fourth will cover the DTRS format.
All my videos start out as demos, so excuse the handheld shots.

Every once in a while I get to do an ADAT transfer with my Fostex RD8. Haven’t had to bake a tape… yet. 😊
