De ligt was phenomenal under ten hag at Ajax, and played 53 games in one season for them, and has been unlucky with injuries over the last couple of seasons. Overall he would be a cheaper deal to make as well than yoro.

Guys, why are we signing another Casemiro-type midfielder like Ugarte? We need rodri/busquests/carrick-type CDM. We need players who are comfortable with the ball in their feet. We should be going for players like Martin Zubimendi for our CDM position.

I dont know, if we plan to experiment with different formations a true cdm with athletic traits like Ugarte might be just right to further develop and use the qualities of mount bruno and mainoo moving forward as they should be the vertical playmakers for our squad. But yeah a rodri type of player would be the best solution generally speaking, but there are none comparable to his skill
I think you underestimate Ugarte. He is press resistant and good with the ball at his feet. He is a high volume passer with 90+% completion too. He's just not a progressive passer or carrier of the ball, but moreover someone that plays it safe. If our defense consists of Lisandro, De Ligt and Kadioglu as LB we can play from the back and I see the ball arriving to the attackers. If you combine Ugarte with Maguire, Branthwaite, Evans AwB etc. We would be definitely doomed and yes we would definitely need a regista CDM like Rodri, Busquets or Palacios to distribute, but I doubt Zubimendi would be up to that task though. Ideally Neves, but we just can't afford him.
Disagree, we need a warrior sitting in behind kobe and bruno. A man who'll stop at nothing to win a tackle. Zubimendi is not that kind of player, yes he's probably better on the ball than Ugarte, but he's brittle. Give me Ugarte anyday over Zubimendi💪
