Thank you for your detailed review. It really helps potential customers to determine if they like this watch.
I LOVE the bund strap for the 1918
You make some really beautiful watches!
@@sleepinglysithia Glad you liked them
Hope this year I can get one of your watches. You guys deserve a lot of success for being innovative. Good job.
@@markvalentine9119 Thank you for your compliments
If I ever start a microbrand I'm gonna come out with a skin diver at 36mm just as a statement. I think smaller watches are sooo elegant the way they make the strap curve up to the top of your wrist and how it sits there like it was made for you and you only.
@@NAMICA.Watches How big are your wrist?
@@NAMICA.Watches Same as mine. I have a beautiful little 50's wittnauer that would probably suit you perfectly. It's 34mm with a 40mm lug to lug on 18mm straps. I swear you'll change your mind. Wearing a 34mm makes me want to go even smaller now. Like a 32 or 31mm. Also being a relatively slim dude, smaller watches make your forearms look big. Don't get me wrong I like my 38's. I have a seiko snkl23 that's perfect and an 42mm skx 009. But then again seiko case designs are really good with fitting different size wrists.
@C. N. Yes
I don't think that the font is too "modern", I consider it to be period correct, kind of resembling the jugenstil/Vienna secession styles of the early teens of the 20. century.
This is the first micro brand watch featured on this channel that I might actually end up buying. Still got some war time memorabilia handed down by my grandfather. Wouldn't want to show this on camera, though...
Great video as always, mate!
Agreed
Thats awesome mate
Wow I’m really digging the aesthetic of this piece. And it’s reasonably priced... very tempting.
Get it man, preorders next month at 250USD, like 30% off retail afterwards. He's only doing 300 pieces in the first run but there will be a second batch too :)
Good looking piece.Great for an ol' fella like me who just wants to look at his wrist and see the time clearly
Makes 3 of us. The more I look at them the more I really like them. I just may go for it and pledge on Kicstarter. I've never done it before.
this watch is in an Art Nuevo style and the name actually does go with the numbers, it is about contrast
I fell in love with this watch. Althought with the brass case one... I'm the fond of steampunk and dieselpunk style so no wonder that I love this watch. This green bund strap looks awesome, I love green color, and also the orange so this lume color is lovely.
I really like this one! I dig the classic look and it’s actually in my price range! 👌👌
I dig that you say I dig because I say I dig , dig ?
Thanks!
It's a WW1 era homage watch and the font makes the watch more desirable to me. Price is very good for the movement, sapphire crystal, and work that goes into the design. Love it
Could have the same numerals but applied, would be even better. And they should have the same orange on the hands as the numerals, but i guess they buy ready made parts from all over…
I don't think I've ever been more excited for a watch. Great video!
Love this watch, the numerals really do it for me! They've nailed the design with this one! Can't wait for the release!
Who feels that Jory could make an video without audio and still understand what he says with just his hands?
Ha ha, right? :-) on the flip side of that coin I probably have 20,000 rounds on hand 😀
🤌🏻
20 minutes of imaging him talking trash on Invicta.
I love the design of this time piece. Simple straight forward. Even the the choice of the letters. Going to get one.
No, the typeface for "Vario" is Art Deco and perfectly in keeping with the era they're going for. You're mistsken.
Yes, look at the original Waltham Trench Watch that this is a homage to, and the Waltham typeface is the same font as this Vario.
I came here to say this. 👍
*I'm more impressed, that you were able to find AMMO these days.* 😁
He's in America it's just laying in the streets.
@@freequest looking at my streets no ammo
@@freequest ammo is real hard to come by in the US right now, everyone is gearing up for the democrat riots when they lose
@@franciscodanconia45 I’ve been trying recently to find .45 ACP and 9mm Luger, to no avail.
Its steel case ammo. Probably old soviet stock sitting in his basement for a while?😅
Here's my take on the brand font. I think most vintage inspired micro brands are trying to make their watches look old when if you think about it, Old brands try to make their products look futuristic (Or at least their idea of what a futuristic thing is) So I think the font is consistent with that.
U've got it!
Well said. Font reminds me of "rabbit ear" antennae. I like it :)
I really like this one. I could honestly see myself buying this one. Thanks for sharing such a cool watch.
Love this! I'm a big fan of old pocket watches and this has direct lineage. Really nice!
A thinner handwinding model would be great.
It would not be period specific though. Allot of the watches were converted pocket watches or aviator watches that had large crowns so they could be operated with gloves on.
@@loganholmberg2295 I think Travel video's means a thinner case, not a thinner crown. The original trench watches were all hand-wound, not automatic.
As a Marine vet, man! I love this watch!
Great lum. Really like the simplicity of the dial with the old school feel. Maybe I’ll get one.
Love the classic look of this piece.
Great watch, multiple color variations, gonna launch on Kickstarter Nov 11th, most definitely gonna pick one of these up, thanks Jory, great review
Wow. I didn't know I would like a watch like this. Very impressed and useful video
I'm really excited about this new Vario watch. It's looking great. 👍
Thanks for the shoutout!
Brilliant, I've been waiting for this one, some great colour combinations too. The cream/orange & black/orange are winning currently.
3 more weeks to choose
I like that it has numbers. Nice looking watch.
A threaded crown !!!! God bless them !!! They are doing the lords work ....
Now to check out the other colorways..! Thanks!
I had to get buy of these. My favorite style of watches are vintage-inspired pieces. I love what Vario has done with these and appreciate what they're doing as a company. I already own one of their bund straps for another watch, so it was an easy sell. I already know how it's going to look on my wrist, but this one will have the added historical nods. I went with brass to give that extra vintage look as it develops a patina.
Good looking watch. Love the dial.
I love this watch. Have pulled the trigger on the 40mm brass version, white numerals with the red 12. The imperfections is quite expected on the enamel dial, virtually all enamel dials have them.
Just great to see something different.
Crown position at 4:20 yeee bois, bliaaze iit!
one of the coolest watches ive seen. nice review!
Thanks for the compliments
Excellent video. Nice watch. The sweeping of the mini secs is awesome. Hold that ammo. It is pretty scarce now.
Probably going to make this my first KS pledge. The white/ white just speaks to me with its red outlined twelve. Counting down the days :)
Good stuff Daddy-O nice watch , my father was in the Canadian navy during WW 2 everybody wore a watch , I like pocket watches have owned several , micro brand monday is a good deal .
A beautiful watch and that strap , wow !
@@michaelhargis7036 The strap is not faithful to WW1 as well but I think it works better for the modern wrist
thanks for the macro shots
i just bought a 1910 trench watch by Levrette...porcelain dial...and im loving it....
I like. I want. I have so many watches now it takes a lot to make me stop and consider putting it on my short list of watches to get... this one is on it.
I like the font honestly. Its a lovely watch. 👍🏻
I like it, they have some nice coloured dials.
I'm on-board for this watch. In the Vietnam War we often wore our watch threaded through our shirt (Jungle Utilities) pocket because the space between the watch and my our wrist got funky.
I do like this watch. Might get the white dial, orange loom, camel strap..
Vario trenchmaster. Some nice spec on that Beaut. Thank you.
I dig this watch, even the brand font. I find the brand logo to be in keeping with the art-deco theme, with a dash of space-age thrown in. I will buy one of these!
My man got that 7.62 straight blazin 🔥
I know what Im asking for Christmas now!
Picking up a “Corps of Engineers” vibe. I like it!
really very impressed nice value for the money @ $250-$350
Reminds me of Tissot and their 1936 heritage model. The women’s size was a pleasant 36mm. Same fixed lug design.
Dial is similar to my Longines Avigation Watch Type A-7 1935.
Yup, this watch is not very original.
I bought the medic variant a day before they temporarily closed their website to work on the orders. Also, the medic uses a Seiko NH38A. You can also get the Trench variant in 40mm if you opt for a brass case for a little more $.
Instant classic!
I'm so excited to get this watch! My girlfriend is buying me the grey dial as a Christmas present. I'm actually getting two watches from her for Christmas so I'm excited from that standpoint. The other is the Reverie Diver in burgundy! :D
She's also getting herself the cream dial of this watch :D
I own an original trench watch. They are wonderful
I love it. Have to have one.
I have my great Uncles Gallet trench watch which may be the inspiration for this. It is 33mm, has no company name on the dial but is otherwise very similar in apoearance. Cathedral hands, small seconds, etc. This is a nice offering and I might consider since Gallet estimates it would cost $1,000 to get mine working!
I love this watch. I wore a hand wind chronometer in the Army and quickly realized a digital quartz was more durable, I could illuminate the time, and I could lose it without guilt. But I still have that chronometer, a LeJour.
Beautiful, beautiful watch and nicely done review! I wonder, is this watch a product to be continued in time or it only has a pre-determined number of items available?
That's a nice piece!
I recently wrecked a Solar Tuna by hitting it in the crown. IME, the 4 o'clock crown is *more* vulnerable, not less. It's directly a target when walking forward in a forward swing of the arm.
Vario will definitely stay on my radar, this watch is really original. And the owner Ivan is a very responsive guy who values his customers. Today I ordered their Empire automatic , hopefully it'll turn out to be a cool watch on my wrist. This watch will take a lot of attention too I'm sure.
Thanks for your support !
I read where officers would actually take their pocket watch and tie/strap it to their wrist, probably why this looks so much like a pocket watch. Very cool looking piece!
They should use the watch pod as their packaging.👍
I like the bund strap.
We will be. :)
I like this watch. Although I prefer larger watches; the 36mm is not bad and period correct. Respectable movement, WR, crystal, and lume; at a fair price. The font is not a problem, either. Looks good and not out of place. I'm going to have to keep my eye out for this one, when it does get released to the buying public. Good job!
That's a really well done watch at a fair price for a change. I don't object to the font for their name. I like that the distinctive 'V' is also engraved on the crown (pretty deeply it looks like). The hands and dial are great. I love the sort of stained glass pattern on the hour and minute hands. I generally don't care that much about lume, but that is really nicely done. I even like the Bund strap. It looks to be of good quality and replacements in case you wanted more than one color (which you might), are very reasonably priced. Regarding the case back, It doesn't appear that a display back is an option on the production watches. Given the type of watch this is paying homage to, I can't fault that since I'm sure trench watches didn't have display back. It's a fairly plain movement anyway and trying to see it if you had the Bund strap would be difficult anyway.
Love this watch.
Love the watch...totally.
Wow I just love it. Should I get this one as my first wrist watch??
"Hand winding not gritty or grainy" HMMMM are you sure it's a Miyota? I think the font works and looks somewhat period, think Bahaus or Mondrian. Love it and now I know what Santa will be bringing me for Christmas
They used a 6T33 handwound for their Empire model watch, and I gotta say from owning it, absolutely butter smooth. I haven't gotten bad Miyota's but I guess Vario just gets good quality ones.
There are a few of the original trench watches in sterling silver here in the UK on eBay. £150 for a decent condition one.
Nice one Jory thank you (:
I like it!, I want it, good video, thanks, greetings from Veracruz, Mexico.
A very nice watch!.
It gets a YES from me!
Thank you!😊🙏
I would like this in my collection.
Interesting piece, but the only square watch I'm into is the Heuer Monaco. Also am I the only who misses the live unboxings?
I really like this!
U gotta check out Tourby's trench watches. I have one with a rose gold 6498 movement with gold chatons. So much luxury at a reasonable price
I like this watch , size is beautiful specs are perfect, and the looks, brilliant , old school vario did a great job, price is great also ,MICRO BRAND MONDAY!!!!!!!JORY BOOOOOOM!!!!!!!😝😝😝😝🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙👏👏👏👏👏👏😁😁😁😁😝😝🤪🤪🤪🤪😋😋😋🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙
Hand wind only and closed case back, as well as a retro Vario font would make this nearly perfect. Also a true Kitchener Strap, and possibly a “shrapnel guard”, would be the cherry on top. It looks like like really good value for the money.
On the website they have closed casebacks so I think the watch shown here has a display case back for reviewing purposes
@@ShacharHomaYona I did both to see which I prefer. I think its an attractive movement but being closer to the originals and improved water resistance was my priority. Also.. I don't have to worry too much about micro particles.
@@VARIOeveryday oh gosh I didn’t think the actual brand would reply to me! How cool! I spent about two hours after writing that pouring over your website, I love what you’re doing and decided I will be getting the white on white dial of this model.
I totally agree about keeping the design integrity and the water resistance, I appreciate open case backs but I don’t see myself buying a watch with one for daily wear with my job and lifestyle.. Good design choice I appreciate it and everything else you’re doing. I’d like to buy some of those bund straps separately as well and hope you’ll add it to your already diverse variety of straps available. Also: I love your brand name font! I don’t get what everyone’s problem is, it totally has a retro/vintage feel to me and I appreciate that, as a simple sans serif font with the older letter proportions, it seems to be quite versatile if you want it to be. I think it would look good on just about any watch going for a vintage look.. can’t say that about another brand off the top of my head. The V looks like watch hands and I love it. Very interested to see what you will be putting out in the future!!
@@ShacharHomaYona That's the beauty of microbrands. I think it works both ways. Brand owners are happy to chat about watches with enthusiasts.. at least I do. We send out surveys to customers during our design process to make sure we're making what customers want. However I did insist on the wired lugs when survey told me more wanted faux but I wanted to capture the spirit of the trench even closer and went against the wishes of the majority.
@@VARIOeveryday made my week tbh. I am so glad you went with the wired lugs!! It’s my favorite thing about the case and probably sold me on the watch, tbh. Sometimes designers know best! I think that it will serve to be a good choice both for durability/period integrity and certainly for defining your brand. I haven’t seen a modern trench watch either a homage type or inspired type of design that had wired lugs, I’ve only seen those on true old antique models. (I could be wrong and may have just not seen any)
Font works for me, and I really like the size. If it were 40mm or bigger, that would seem wrong for this vintage type.
The logo looks out of place but not a deal breaker. I like this one.
Imteresting historical watch. The font doesn’t bother me a bit. Maybe I’m the only one, but I would love to see that with a full lume face and black hands. For the price, this seems like a cool watch. If it was $500.00, I would be out.
I did a survey with a cursive font and the modern Vario font both getting equal votes and I felt as a vintage inspired watch, it would juxtapose quite well, since we moved the crown to 4pm, upgraded the water resistance...etc quite a few points that makes this watch more modern.
Its only going to be like 250 on preorders next month, and there is a black dial one which is cool, and yeah I agree on the font, looks good
I like the current Vario font. However, I think it would have been even better if, for this watch, they would have went with a more period correct font for the dial. I'm still getting one.
Are these going to be limited in number? Love the aesthetics of this piece. Definitely on the list of watches to purchase.
Shout out for Sheffield Steel, my home City.
OH you're from tutha side of pennines are you
I was sure I'd hung on to my knife (same or similar) from my TA days (Royal Engineers) but haven't seen it in years. Maybe I handed it in.
My dad has an old Waltham pocket watch that actually predates WWI, 1904 I think is the date of manufacture. I think it may have a hand missing and no crystal but I’d love to see it get fixed, it has a large white dial, with script-style Arabic numerals with a small seconds hand.
Cool watch and good review. How do you think this watch would look on a nato?
Nice Vario infomercial.
Good replica of a ww1 watch and I love it. The brand name font is okay, similar to the Oris Siro which had the same sub second dial hand. The serif font on the numbers is identical. What would I change, perhaps the colour of the strap.
The lume!!! 🤩 I like this watch a lot. They should make a light salmon color dial version.
The white lume shines even brighter and last longer!
Nice review. Is this cream or white dial?
WWI is the mist interesting event in human history- I have been waiting for a modern trench watch like this for a couple years. I would change very little- crown position at 3 or 12 and black/orange with white subdial and I would be on a plane to Singapore to get mine tomorrow!
I love the look of this piece and the fact that it is under 40mm! This is such a nice size. I like the wire lugs as well.
I looked at the website and now I really want to see what the orange lume looks like, especially on the cream dial.
Will they all come with a display caseback ? I saw on the website that they are solid backs with engraving.
We won't offer the exhibition caseback for the final watches
I like it. However, I would prefer a hand wind movement only. Crown at 3 and the wire lugs could utilize spring bars (I have a mid 90s Swiss Army that has a similar look to this that has them).
I understand gents' watches were smaller in years past so surely this has been sized to be in keeping with the period that it represents.
I'm quite pleasantly surprised folks wanted it small to be frank :)
@@VARIOeveryday I think it also helps that with the bund strap it will look bigger in a sense. I know that for me it's more the 18mm, I had am SNK809 and at 18mm it felt a little thin, but the bund kind of evens this out which is nice.
Actually allot of watches from that period were pocket watches convert to wrist watches by welding lugs onto them. It wasn't until we get towards the end off WW1 and towards WW2 that small feild watches made as watches from the ground up as being smaller as a thing so it could be kept hiiden under a shirt or jacket cuff.
