  • Welcome back to my vlog! In this episode, I dive into my ongoing journey to qualify for the Boston Marathon while managing my epilepsy. Running has been my lifelong passion, and aiming for one of the most prestigious marathons in the world is both a challenge and a dream. This journey is about more than just running; it’s about raising awareness and funds for the Epilepsy Foundation, a cause very close to my heart.
For the past four months, I’ve been battling IT Band Syndrome (ITBS), which has significantly impacted my training. In this video, I’ll share how I overcame ITBS by making some crucial changes to my footwear and running technique. Initially, I was using the Brooks Ghost Max, but the pain persisted. I then switched to the ASICS Nimbus 26, but it wasn't until I tried the Nike Pegasus 41 that I found relief. The change to a shoe that better supported a forefoot strike made a substantial difference in reducing my ITBS symptoms.
Moreover, I’ve started incorporating barefoot running into my training. This approach has helped me adapt my form, strengthen my feet, and minimize the strain on my IT band. Barefoot running has not only improved my technique but also connected me more intimately with the ground beneath my feet, enhancing my overall running experience.
In this video, I share my training routine, the obstacles I face, and the milestones I achieve. From intense training sessions to balancing my health condition, you'll see the raw and real experiences of an epileptic runner striving for greatness. My goal is to inspire others with epilepsy to chase their dreams and highlight the importance of supporting the epilepsy community.
Every mile I run, whether in shoes or barefoot, brings us closer to the Boston Marathon and closer to making a significant impact. Join me on this journey, share your own stories, and consider donating to the Epilepsy Foundation to support crucial research and programs.
