- Of all the options that are common across most Popcap games, Hardware Acceleration is one of them. But what exactly does it do? AKA im just ripping off pannenkoek's style, but whatever.
Clarification: At 00:20 the looping videos are not actually the described actions happening, they're just kinda random-easy-to-understand-visual-representations-of-sorts of what is meant by those three terms.
Thanks to the following people for helping with footage:
courtemanche437#0437 (Twist)
Frikkinfriks14#5442 (Chuzzle)
TheMadWasp#9887 (Zuma, although mostly unused)
Thanks for watching!
I hope at least someone that used to work at the Popcap I love likes the effort I put into this video :)

There's another thing having it on changes in Bejeweled 2: If you die, with hardware acceleration off, the gems will leave the board just like they did in Bejeweled 1, but with it on, the gems will fly towards the screen instead.
plants vs zombies and zuma revenge has left the chat
the console (PS2/PS3/X360) versions of the popcap games also have HW enabled because yknow, they're consoles
The original Bejeweled started its' life as a Flash game. Back then, the mode we had was the "Time Trial", though it was called something else, and not Blitz, that came later. So, no surprise that there's no HW Acceleration, because the effects are simple enough that the CPU can handle them. The only reason that "SexyApp" (laaaame 😆) fails to recognize far superior GPUs is because the API was not written with uh, future-proofing in mind. Any dedicated GPU from 2008 onward could run these games with max settings no problem.

Thank you for your explanation. I really had no idea about it, I'd always turn it on by the time I played popcap games on my computer thinking I'd enjoy the experience. Unfortunately, it made the games so slow and buggy on my laptop. I had to disable it to reduce the lag, increase the speed and have the games run smoothly. Even though my pc was older than my laptop, it could run them more smoothly.
Flashy back's The Bejeweled 2 Was Enabled Already when We Played For the First time. Until Nowdays The 3D Hardware Acceleration Cannot be Supported.
You see, Bejeweld needs a base to generate diamonds. Uh, Chaos Emeralds.
Using the PopCap Patches
unfortunately some people get a issue where bejeweled won't enable 3D acceleration at all and it stays unchecked
Are the only games made in the "modern engine" zumas revenge, bejeweled 3, twist and blitz? Are there any more made in this modern era of popcap games?
Does it make a big difference in Peggle deluxe?
what does it do in plants vs zombies?
I'm not able to enable 3D Acceleration in Chuzzle. Please help!
Omg did i saw bejeweled 3?
I must be blind. I see no difference. I have watched this video twice, and don't notice any difference. It says I should have it on if it is an option, but, with only 4 Gigs of RAM, Ima leave it off, cuz it can only slow me down. You may want to show more side by side comparisons instead of expecting us to memorize what it looked like to compare.
Just fucking get directx control panel.
Seriously you thought the wire frame animations from megaman X2 & X3 were cool but PopCap took this level to even more cool while also having a option to turn off to increase speed & framerate performance.
