So I was 2 or so minutes into this vid and I decided to youtube Devin Townsend. I then went on an hour long binge of his music and I just now realized that it has been an hour.
dingle berry Good for you man. Devin is #1 for me. Keep digging, every album of his is unique.
He's brilliant. And has a lot of variety. Definitely a creative genius
Great to discover someone new you like, good for you! I disliked Devin on Steve Vai's Sex and Religion album, but really like "Ocean Machine". Wasn't keen on Strapping Young Lad, but then loved much of Devin's solo releases. "Ki" is special to me.
CZcams rabbit hole. Be careful down there.
And is INCREDIBLY prolific. He's the musical equivalent of finding a show you love and it's on season 37 lol.
Devin Townsend is so underated and he is a creative genius. Ocean Machine, Accelerated Revolution, Addicted and Blue Sky are my favourite albums in my opinion. He just creates a very unique Arena Rock\Metal sound. It is like if Pink Floyd was mixed with Queen and bits of Dream Theater mixed in.
I'LL WAIT FOR THE OCEAN TO RISE UP AND MEET ME AS IT ROSE UP BEFORE!!!
You loving Devin makes me love you even more. Triangle of love!
Etienne got room to make that a square?
Grigori Rasputin this shape is gonna keep growing cause oh boy
Props to Lee for taking a second stab at explaining the Ocean Machine. Even Townsend couldn't explain it in one NAMM video I saw.
But does it come with the Universe's ULTIMATE cup of coffeeeeh?!
Indeed
I fully expect a "sound like Devin Townsend without busting the bank" episode now.
Rabea should test all delay/reverb pedals ^^
You both do a very good Job finding the Perfect mixture of entertaining in an funny way and offering important informations about the unit, and this with just being yourself! Best Equipment-Video i saw in a long time. Cheers from switzerland
Yes! So glad you're reviewing this!
The new Chapman guitars are just stunning guys!
that harmonic bend with the whammy at 11:15
YES! I was planning on buying this pedal. Glad to see you guys doing a review on it :D
That ambient stuff from around 3:29 to 4:10 was exceptionally pretty.. Well done Rob
Eric Altpeter Thanks dude :-)
Definitely not a demo an 80's rock riff oriented kinda guitar player should be making. Someone with a game for ambient guitar music should make a
video demo of this great pedal.
I got one of these a week or two ago, and although I'm still a very amateur guitarist, I have found myself sitting with this pedal for several hours at a time to just mess around with it, which is something I've never done before - I typically play for the objective of learning a song, not messing with odd settings and whatnot. While I've got a couple other pedals, I don't believe I've ever had more fun playing guitar than while I just screw around with this thing. Definitely the best $300 I've spent for musical purposes.
Got it delivered Wednesday, used it Sunday, got major compliments on tone. It's an outstanding pedal -- just takes time to wade through all the possibilities.
been collecting pedals for years, this is the single most awesome and creative pedal i've ever used
@@jaydee9968 how is the pedal holding? working well ?
how is the pedal holding? working well ?
@@darkcei Yes, it's great. My only complaint is that it's not straightforward to turn the pedal on and off. I added it to my effects loop, layered with another reverb -- a Neunaber Seraphim -- and a Carbon Copy delay pedal. Since much of the material I'm now playing requires an ambient, ethereal sound whenever I kick in the effects loop, I've been using it mostly as an "always on" pedal in the loop. It sounds great with all three pedals in the loop. I really do wish, however, that there was a simple way to just shut it off. Maybe there is and I haven't found it yet. LOL If you know of any way, please let me know. Thanks.
Capt meets Devin Townsend?
Ryan Berry No!!! Chappers meets Devin!!!
Please make it happen!!!
Hadn't realised that Dev was such a vocal inspiration to you, but I can totally see it. Next step: CHAPPING YOUNG LAD.
Rob Chapman CAPT AND CHAPPERS MEET DEVIN
Yeeeeessss! Make it happen!
I've been waiting so long for this
This pedal is just Devin Townsend's ethereal metal tone in a stompbox. I was really hoping it might have been more affordable being Mooer but I may have to save up for this.
Other similar pedals are $450 to $999, so $299 is better!
I was literally listening to Devin Townsend, looked up the pedal and MAGICALLY you just released the vid!!!
I noticed that you guys mentioned that what you see is what you get in terms of editing.... AKA only need the 4 knobs per effect but...
There are more parameters that can be edited within the menu for these effects. Just the basic functions are instant access via the knobs but it is not limited to just that.

Terminator 8 - Ocean Manchine
Frankly I don't give a fuck what the pedal is doing, I just like to see Rob and Lee
Great video as always guys! I just ordered the only one you had in stock (at least thats what the website said) Hope it makes it to
Arizona soon! I've been waiting and waiting to order this thing.
Interesting pedal - sounds better than I was expecting (mooer preconceptions on my part)
Can't wait for this thing
Pedals like this needs to be heard in stereo as well
NEED TO!!! 100%
normally i would agree but this pedal has some strange stereo issues as the delays are in mono and will collapse the reverb or warp the stereo image.. so best just to use it in mono.
Sounds really good!
Cool delay pedal, but I'm digging that new V rob is rocking a lot more 🔥🔥🔥
FANTASTIC!!!!
"It only has 44 seconds of loop time " "That's all right, that's enough for me" (Pete laughing in the background) hahahahaha
Pete is oulling these videos out of the pg rating.
Also... "One of the coolest features is the FREEZE option (when in Play mode). You can hold down the Reverb or either Delay footswitch and that effect (e.g., plate reverb, tape echo, etc.) will continue to sustain until releasing the footswitch."
I've waited too long for this
That looper jam was quite flavorful
that pedal is MASSIVE. I mean the sounds.
Devin is god, pure genius!!! Chappers the new v looks and sounds immense
You forgot to mention one very important aspect about this pedal and that is that you can change the order of effects on the fly
This is some of the best playing I’ve heard rob do he should do some more clean stuff
You can change the order of the effects.. Dev uses it with a delay then a reverb then another delay ;)
That V is insane. Gimme.
Chappers' playing was really enjoyable this video.
The new Chapman models look and sound awesome!
Great demo guys and like you say it is a great way to get 3 pedals for under $300
i wish i can afford any of the things in your shows
gj guys you make anything sounds good
Save up.
Love that MLV Pro
crazy how much older Rob looks..I was watching a video from 2012 and he looks 10 years younger. it's only been 5 years lol..the captain still looks the same haha.
Daniel Orozco it's true, funny thing is if I shave I look 10 years younger :-)
I love it!;)
Literally just came to see if they were using any new Chapman guitars! Also the pedal was nice too :)
WOAH Chaptain talking about Devin Townsend? My dream has come true!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Devin is a god!
pretty starting riff!!! Hey Chappers and Captain 😊
Jesse Guitars Thanks man, just made it up :-)
Nice, need one. And the V too.
I may have to add this to my pedal board.
I NEED ONE.
STOP.
That Glasgow shoutout tho. Two of the more hipster-ish beer vegan chillout places out there, Stereo and Mono.
I'm in the States but I'd gladly buy the pedal used in this video!
Rob nice to see you playing the standard series aswell rather than just picking the pro
Oh bloody hell. It’s Chappy Chappers. Bollocks mate!
I think a good description of Devin is that he is the kind of guy that actually has a rainbow machine on his touring board.
Am I the only one missing the challenge videos.
Any chance of you guys doing an in depth-ish vid on the new Chapman range or would it be too biased?
Rob seems very happy with his chapman v
Jesse Guitars I absolutely love it :-)
Rob Chapman Can you send me an mlv in iris? I have one moneys to give you sir.
Rob Chapman Hey great videos, got a question I was wondering if you could maybe do a video on, impedance mismatching, I know that a lot of amps can't do it, but Mesa's can (as well as a few others I'm just not that knowledgeable). Does 8 ohms into 16ohm cab, or 4 ohms into 8ohm cab have adverse effect on tone? or can it be useful? I've never had to gig with a mismatched setup but I love my Orange Cabs and the Rectoverb 25 I'm eyeing operates at 8ohms. The user manual tells me that I can play like this without damaging the amp or cab, but I dunno if it's gonna have a useable tone. Even if you don't have the time to answer awesome videos dude.
Jesse Guitars it looks fucking sick
Rob Chapman what drive pedal Were you using with the ocean machine..
like the flying v in the demo
This is the best tone Rob's ever had. Like Van Halen+
This thing sounds fuckin amazing.
RTFM!! :) If you hold the footswitch down you get freeze functions, on EACH effect, nuts.
Thanks for this review. Based on it.. Im going to look at the Wampler Ethereal for this type of stuffs.
I have a question I’m having trouble finding an answer to- I run a two amp setup with different pedal chains for each amp-would using the stereo ins/outs keep these chains split up to the proper amps, or would it combine the signals and spread them across both amps?
I need this.
It's called the Ocean Machine because "Ocean Machine Biomech" was an album of his
That V looks like its gonna go hypersonic 👍
WOW! You actually played some clean tones for more than a few seconds. In most of your videos you do 40 seconds of clean tone and 40 minutes of distortion. FYI. Some people prefer paying clean. Not everyone is a distortion nut. Even with this, I still love your videos. Just wish it was more 50/50.
I don't know whether I am more impressed by the Mooer or the Pro MLV?!
Hey Rob, I was thinking of getting the TC electronic nova delay, but now I've seen this bad boy my thoughts have changed, oh yeah I'm a bass player too. what are your thoughts !!!
how does it react when you put a Wampler Psychosomatic in front of the ocean machine???
I think a lot of the reverb coming from these tones might have been lost on the cabinet microphone. I keep hearing the body and depth of the reverb return when the sound transfers back to the lapel mics. Just food for thought. Thanks for the demo!
Okay that Chapman Standard ML1 Modern looks... amazing. I mean, I know it's the "cheaper" model and such, but that gloss finish on the flame maple and the reveal binding... delicious! Gonna have to look into getting one...
Delicious? So you want to eat it?
Maybe at least lick it a few times...
Why has there never been a vlog regarding the new studio? Will it still come?
Before I start this video I can't stop thinking these are not the right people to demo an ambient machine...
...now let's hear if they can give the lie to me.
While in preset mode can you turn the pedal completely off and use tap tempo in that mode or do you have to switch to another configuration in order to do that?
Great job Rob, as usual! Quick question: will you guys ever review any Joyo Pedals? I'm considering buying the Joyo Vintage Overdrive, but for the last few years I'm only buying a new gear after seeing it in one of your videos (e.g. my last purchase was a Vox AV15). Thanks!
Eytschpi42 has some good reviews on joyo pedals.
which amp was used for this video? sounds fantastic.
The pedal just does clean sounds right? So are you just using the amps overdrive to get the heavier sounds here?
Great Stuff!. Does anybody knows what is Rob playing in 10:23 -10:33? I just love that part progression.
I want it before I've even heard it :D
Effects are amazing but when I tryed it I couldnt find the way to bypass all the effects at the same time. Is it possible?
Vocês poderiam gravar como criar esses efeitos de Reverb desse pedal, no GE200 da mooer, os parâmetros
With the Trail function in "off" (truebypass mode), does it give a little fuss? Is this caused by the conversion of signals when triggered the effects key?
Seems to be very similar to the Strymon Big Sky. Still prefer a Strymon, but this is a very neat pedal. Lotsa knobs 'n such.
I think you can also change the order of the 3 effects
You know Rob, if I wasn't trusting your intellectual honesty,I would have the feeling you're not only advertising the pedal...
just kidding man, those guitars look and sound awesome, especially the ml1-2 pro models and the ml3 standard modern.
I have a question though, where's the orange Pro Trad ML1 we saw at NAMM ?
how about use with Electric acoustic guitar?
I've been waiting for this pedal to be released. No signs of it on Amazon, or Musician's Friend in the US.
Ken Hinzman it’s on amazon now.
when will you guys be doing the chase bliss pedals??
was just wondering, how many of the old Ml1-Pro's were made?
Pedals without decay after switching them off have nothing to do with processing power.
Even analog delays can do it if the delayed signal is mixed with the output. It's just a matter of how the pedal is bypassed / switched.
Okay, this pedal just magically stole $300 from my wallet! Thus it must be truly magical. :-) Devin Townsend Project have the most reverb and delay drenched sound I've heard, other than some shoegaze and blackgaze bands. I confess that while I wouldn't use this live with my current band (I have a Strymon Blue Sky for some intros with a couple of delay pedals), BUT I could have loads of fun with this at home, including for recording. I've checked out several reverb/delay demos this week by about 5 brands and this video sold me on which one to choose.
Would you prefer this over the strymon big sky?
how about the power supply? what power supply i can use for this pedal?
if i was always this early id have a better job lmao good vid boys
