Respect to Perk for defending our guy 🤝
He's always good to stick up for the Knicks, much respect to him
He did it with passion. He's a good actor, had he not this segment would 3 times shorter and ESPN knows that. Fans still don't get it.
This was ridiculous 🤦🏽♂️
The hate is real
He can defend all he wants lol. He's still wrong
Celtics fan here. How many players who play for a NY market team are vastly underrated? Brunson is. Should have been an All-Star last year and should be again.
Right, A.I. got a win in Los Angeles against Shaq and Kobe during the Finals.
That series was closer than it looks , personally it was full of bs calls for the lakers also . Shaq was literally elbowing poor mutumbo in the face every time down the court . Refs never called it .
Still doesn't make him the main option on a championship team
All star is one thing she's talking about superstars. LIke Embiid, Jokic, Giannis, Doncic, Lebron, Kyrie, Dame, there are levels to this.
@@DwellsSouthern What does hall of famer AI have to do with Brunson?
Brunson is a walking bucket. His scoring is so impressive. Definitely an all-star.
Is he better than Iverson?
He's 26 doing this, he keep this up till 30 then yes
I think Brunson is amazing . But calm your self down , he definitely is no iverson .
Iverson in today’s league ? Avging 40 easily . And I’m a iverson hater .
But you aren't winning a championship with him as your first option
@@DwellsSouthern Iverson and Brunson have different games can't compare maybe mitchell and Iverson and that's a no
Knicks need to give Jalen Brunson whatever he wants
He of course needs more support. 😊
They gave him a bit of power his father is in the coaching staff and he got his boys Josh Hart and Donte
@@13LuntSmokeand Ryan Archy after they traded him they signed him back
You want them to give him anything he wants? And then you say he needs more support around him 🤔🤔 I'm a Knicks fan. I love the way JB is playing and I understand that for his performances, he's underpayed and undervalued around the NBA. But we have so many more needs at the moment. Mitch is injured, we need a replacement for him, we need another scorer, which it might be more plausible to get in the off-season. We don't know what the contract situation is gonna be with IQ. I think we need to get most of those things in order before thinking of giving JB "anything he wants". This is only his second year of a 104M contract, 26M per year ain't exactly cheap. And I don't think he's worth 40M like the upper echelon super stars are getting, unless he wins a chip or at least gets us to the finals
I never thought I'd say it, but go off Perk! I'm so tired of watching people acting like they don't see what Jalen Brunson has done in the big moments. 50 against the Suns. Went for 30 or more four times in six games against the Miami Heat. He shows up when he NEEDS to show up. He has not once been the problem with any team he's been on. The problem last season was Randle had a weak playoff showing, but that was with him injured, and I never hated on him like a lot of people did. If he has a healthy playoff run next to JB he'll show up, and I think that will make any question about Brunson's height irrelevant. I think JB is the best player on the Knicks, but Randle is very close behind, and their combined presence is an issue for teams that don't know who to prioritize defense on. I don't think they're winning chips without another big scoring threat, but I don't think that means it has to be a player that is better than Brunson, there were so many close games in the playoffs last season despite Grimes putting up single digit scoring. They are much closer to contention than most people think.
Go off Perk? He said Dallas had success when Brunson was there but he was still a Robin there lmao. The question was can Brunson me the main guy and the answer is no. Perkins is just in his feelings and even his example of Dallas had Brunson as the B option, so he avoided the question with some retarded statements
Yea but can Brunson lead them to a chip , can he guard can he make clutch plays can he make other guys better … a 5’ 10 guy can’t be the best player on your team n expect them to win a chip history says not enless your curry or Isiah n those guys had a lot of talent from A-Z
Word! He dropped a 50 piece on KD Devin and allegedly better team then the Knicks and they walked them down. He’s a superstar hands down man gotta get credit for what he’s doing silently
@@kalb.3002 if you've been watching the Knicks at all or even when Brunson was still with the Mavs you know that he's clutch af. Brunson is not the problem. It's the consistency of the rest of the team.
@@jc09113 yea but u can put a 6’ 7 guy on him in certain playoff matchups n take him away …if im the Celtics im puttin Jaylen brown on him n makin him work all gm
Knicks fans know Brunson been hearing this all his life. More fuel to the fire.
Brunson doesnt really play like a small guard. He has better footwork and post moves than most Centers in the NBA. He's also one of the best 3pt shooters in the NBA this season. Special scorer
Bro ur missing the point , the best player on your team has to be multi faceted, clutch , defend, makes the guys better even luka not doin that generally that guy is a 6’7 , 6’8
What about Isiah Thomas? He won multiple championships with Detroit in an era where big men dominated the game. As a Knicks fan, it saddens me to say that the Knicks currently are not up there with the elite teams in the east (or west), but with the right pieces they can eventually be (im hoping)
I was looking for someone to say Isiah Thomas
You really need a top defense and really good players around the small guy. None of the big players are going to join Jalen Brunson.
I think she meant current players because I thought the same thing you said at first.
@85gmb1: She listed some past players as well though like Iverson & Nash. So this response is perfect as well
In Twitter she said mostly, Yea guys like Zeke and Steph have won chips. But the majority of them are won by big men and Wings
Kendrick Perkins and Zach Lowe are the only two analysts on ESPN that knows what they're talking about when it comes to the Knicks and doesn't go to a default narrative about "they need another star", "where they do they rank in the East". We've seen the Nuggets, Raptors and Warriors recently win championships because they've developed their players, stayed consistent with the process, and made smart trades. Knicks are showing signs that they're on that same trajectory.
Mannnn!!!
Nowhere near the caliber of steph/klay or jokic and clearly toronto was a one off lmaooo
Kendrick perkins is a bozo

Ehhh
So he can be the best player on a championship team?
Jalen isn’t the problem it’s his second and third best player.
@@randyhaynes3974 2nd best, he’s in that Kyrie in CLE, Jamal in DEN, Klay during the GS runs type a 2nd option. If he had a 1 like Tatum, Embiid or Freak he’d be in the conference finals fasho.
He’s not too small. He’s too devoid of help. He’s not Allen Iverson, but AI suffered from the same affliction. A lazy front office that takes its stars for granted.
It’s only year two relax
Brunson is just not on that level. Period. You can't win with him as your best player and maybe not even as your 2nd best player.
theres no such thing as a lazy front office in ny bro, maybe pay a little attention
Why is this the conversation after they go on a winning tangent and beat good teams. Jalen can drop 30-40 a game and this would still be the convo that he’s not considered “that guy” truth of that matter is if Jalen had that support of a 1B (if prime julius consistently show up) they’d go further than what anyone can predict right now
You not winning a chip w just Brunson, BUT he is amazing and needs his recognition
Chauncey Billups, Steph curry, and Isaih Thomas all have championships as the best players on their teams. Teammates matter. It’s not a 1v1 tournament to decide who the nba champ is.
Three examples doesn’t disprove her point
Also Ben Wallace defense lead that team.
@@Matthew-xl5bc literally said teammates matter and you go and name a teammate.
Billups is a question mark. Was he really the best player on that Pistons team?
Curry and Isiah are legitimate, but those are the only two exceptions in NBA history.
Hold on so she remembers Curry but not Isiah Thomas winning in the 80s?
This right here. The disrespect to Isiah is wild

She's speaking from her own playing experience. Of course she won't remember anything significant in the nba
Yeah he pissed off black jesus MJ. Isiah Thomas is pound for pound the best player and best point guard period.

Exactly
He is an all-star, but he needs more support for a deep playoff run. At the moment I would say, the Knicks are probably a second round team. Without additional pieces, they probably go down to Boston or Milwaukee, in five or six games in the second round.
First round exit. The East's Big Four should win the first round.
@@sld1776 who are the big 4? the magic are the 4? or the heat? which one... GTFOH
@@newyorkforever5779 Is that disagreement enough for a GTFOH? GTFU.
Jalen Brunson is the best thing to happen to the Knicks since Patrick Ewing. Full stop. He may not be the quintessential superstar, but he has the potential to be. His stats are very impressive, he's definitely an all-star level player. The Knicks need 1 more big time player, that's what takes them to the conference finals and potentially the finals. They're playing good team ball this year but on those off nights where they;re not shooting well, you need that player who can create for himself and make stuff happen. Brunson by himself isn't enough when Randle and Barrett aren't productive.
Like a Donovan Mitchell for example, since he's being mentioned here and I know the rumors of Donovan wanting to be a Knick have been swirling for multiple seasons now. Jalen Brunson and Donovan Mitchell backcourt tandem? It'd be a small lineup in the backcourt with both being like 6'1 but still...that's scary man. The Knicks need an explosive scoring 2 guard or SF, a shot creator who can reliably average 25ppg or better. Jalen is just fine at being a more traditional PG that looks to pass first, but he's always a serious scoring threat every time he's on the floor. That's how I see it. They need one more big piece and for the rest of the roster to continue developing then they become a serious contender in my book.
Thank you🙌🏼
Carmelo??
@@meez35 Melo wasn’t a team player, and he didn’t really do anything major for the Knicks in the sense of playoff appearances
@@Creed845Brunson is an iso player… “team player” where?
Jalen Brunson and Mitchell backcourt ain't scaring a legit contending team.
People want to forget about Isaiah Thomas because he bashes Jordan, but think about what he did as a small person. People will say that he had a good team which he did, but it was because he set the tone of excellence and provided assist and made his teammates better too. Even if part of his genius was devious with the way he got into people's heads, it was that very genius that would also inspire Michael Jordan to become a better player. Never underestimate what a big heart from a small guy can accomplish. David vs Goliath!
What about all the big NBA players that never won a championship??
Yeah. Average height is 6’6, probably not that many sub 6’1 players in the first place, small sample size.
Height is an advantage in basketball but that’s all. I don’t believe in any proposition that a small player can’t be effective enough to win a chip. AI and Nash’s teams would have been good enough to win in a weaker field and Isiah already did it.
Steph(6’2), Dwade(6’4), Isaiah Thomas(6’1) all won rings as the best player on their team
She said Steph is an outlier and I guess she forgot about IT. But Wade is not someone who i would consider small.
@@udithsethu552i mean hes not short but he wasn’t necessarily big like Luka or Magic
Pistons Isaiah Thomas was small like Brunson, but then again Thomas was a better player and had a better team, and coach
Yes coaching, team pieces and health are bigger issues than height. Brunson’s footwork on the paint makes him different.
*Isiah Thomas wasn't anything without Joe Dumars.
Isaiah (with an extra 'a') Thomas played for the Celtics.
Isaiah had defensive ‘dogs’ with him. With good scoring from dumars, and laimbeer.
Thomas wasn't a better player, 80's players aren't better than todays players.

Now folks, this conversation proves a point. That Jalen Brunson is Underrated. That stays true to being NYK!
Loving this panel
About time someone defends Jalen Brunson!!!! 🎉
It's crazy we're having a discussion like this about a guy who is 6'2" lol. I get by NBA standards, that's on shorter side, but he's tall in every other walk of life. I'm just a little over 5'9" and still feel average height.
Put the right pieces around Jalen Brunson and his will win.
The man is a natural born *winner.*
Great take
Becky was right. Since 1991, only 4 times did a guy under 6’6 win the Finals MVP. Billups(2004), Wade(2006), Parker(2007), & Curry(2022).
Knicks FINALLY got it right with Brunson, after a decade of drafting bad and trading bad.
They picked up Brunson cheap and gave him his first shot at being a starting PG. He delivered, on a big market team with zero patience.
This was a horrible take Becky.
Where’s the Knicks championship? Becky said that Brunson can’t be that guy on a championship team and until he wins a fmvp this is a good take by Becky.
@@bcrsrhscl7774 He’s played a Single season in NY. Dead take. And I’m not even a Knicks fan.

The biggest problem with Becky’s comment is that *before she said Brunson is too small to lead a championship team, she flat out said the Knicks don’t have a “dude.” Once Perk called her out, is when her brain scrambled to back her statement up she just said “HES TOO SMALL!”
Knicks won't win a chip with their current roster, but Billups was arguably the best player on a championship roster at 6ft3, it's possible. Steph Curry obviously has done it as well. Brunson's height isn't the reason the Knicks can't win a chip, pretty silly argument imo.
Did he shrink? Didn’t they make it to the 2nd round last year? I say Brunson is good for them.
Be fr the knicks aren't winning a championship with Brunson as their 1st option. The 1st option needs to be a certified superstar in order to win. The last team to win without a certified superstar was the 04 pistons.
@@pradayou5405what's the difference if he plays like a superstar?

Having Becky on this show is spectacular
i was wrong about brunson when he went to the knicks. i thought he'd be an okay starting guard, but overpaid. he's been a star for them. that said, the current roster construction in the NBA just doesn't allow for him to lead an okay team to be a NBA champion. He's their best 3pt scorer by volume, but they need an off-ball guy who's better than Barrett as the third scoring option and who can defend at a high level. adding OG Anunoby to this team would be interesting. i think becky is right, if your best player is small your climb is going to be rough to the top. not impossible, but it's not common.
