My FIREX fire alarm starts beeping every minute or so. I assume I can replace the battery without replacing the whole unit. Is that correct? Also, it's strange that the beeping would stop later in the night but resume beeping during the day.

These wired Firex smoke alarms are impossible to install on a ceiling. Bad design bordering on evil. I guess you want to use a proprietary connector so that whenever the smoke alarm is replaced, it’s easier to be replaced with another Firex one. However, those connectors don’t actually stay connected when you twist the alarm onto the plate. The plate can’t be fastened to any normal dry lining box, and the connectors wires need to be fastened onto the mains wires using connectors that take up space within the dry lining box. Why won’t you just allow your smoke alarm plates to be connected to the mains wires like most normal wired smoke alarms? I hate the Firex smoke alarm that I bought, it’s caused me nothing but problems and now resides in a drawer, although I probably should have put it straight in the bin.

Firex is owned by Kidde witch it made by Edwards witch is owed by united technologies

You're right about the first part, but wrong about the rest: FireX _is_ owned by Kidde (not always though: they only acquired FireX in 2009), & Kidde & Edwards _are_ both part of Carrier Global (formerly United Technologies Corporation, or "UTC"), but they are otherwise not related; Kidde makes their own products & so does Edwards, neither manufacturers the other's products.
