- A lovely hike on the hills along Grindstone Lake in Ruidoso (New Mexico) offering beautiful lake, mountain and forest views and wildlife encounter.
Species in order of appearance:
Lesser Goldfinch (Spinus psaltria), Painted Lady Butterfly (Vanessa cardui), European Goldfinch (Carduelis carduelis) while a Red-wingned Blackbird (Agelaius phoeniceus) is calling, non-venomous Smooth Greensnake (Opheodrys vernalis).
Although a European goldfinch was initially a captive bird in North America, it has been reportedly seen in the wild.
Walking around saw a very beautiful lake with blue water, beautiful birds with very melodious voices ❤
Grindstone Lake is amazing, perfect for bird watching and hiking, a hidden gem.
