Great episode I need to get that book now to get the full story. As it makes my story a bit soft compared to that one 😂. As a young man I got up to all sorts of skulduggery I’m not going into any further detail other than the usual black market, debt collecting door minding stuff Into my early 30’s. I ended up an alcoholic, chain smoker, coke snorting monster that had alienated everyone that loved me
I haven’t seen my daughter in the last 20 years and I’ve had to treat it like a death because that’s how I came to terms with it. She bore witness to all of it growing up and just doesn’t want to know me. I don’t blame her I was out of control back then and I don’t think she wants to remember any of that. She’s in her early 30’s now. So Here’s the stupidity and madness I’ve been a successful tradesman for the last 35 years and earned thousands of pounds every year (not at the beginning) for the last 30 years. I acted up in the beginning to get through the apprenticeship. So I used what I had available at the time, 6’1 and 17stone and born to the manor as my channel suggests 😂. So I was pretty clued up in the ways of the world. The thing is I liked it and was suited to all of it and became addicted to the whole life. I stopped the door work when my daughter was born, the mid 90’s was a dangerous time to be bouncing so I knobbed it off. I was still busy in the evening with other interesting avenues of income like stocks and shares, logistics and endless paperwork 💵 if you know what I mean. Pretty much doing what I wanted when I wanted and I always kept good company or bad whatever way you want to view it. I’m sure my mates wives felt the same way as my wife at the time felt. But we had it all money attitude and bluff. And a respectable front to cover it all over. Perfect 👌🏻
I basically spiralled into mental illness in the early 00’s and it felt like I was dying physically and mentally. I literally exploded and the whole thing came on top. I just went through what I can only call black out for 2 years and when I came out of it everyone that mattered hated me.
I sobered up slowly and sorted myself out one day at a time and got all the precious people in my family back on side but I lost the most precious one of all.
All Down to greed and ego when I should’ve just concentrated on building my young family and legit business and settling down when she was born no excuses hands up 🙌🏻 banged to rights.
Over the years I’ve remarried and built that business up and enjoy a much better lifestyle without the worry of a knock at the door or a hand on the shoulder or the fear of prison. A very interesting gentleman I’ve met on the journey told me that it’s ok to be naturally violent but we have to be peaceful by choice. If you can achieve that you’re in for a better life than you think. Sage words that hit a chord with me straight away. I’ve rebuilt the wall that I kicked in 20 years ago but you can always see the hole that is still there. So be warned people if you think being a wrong un is glamorous think again and consider the human cost to yourself and take it from me it’s the highest price to pay. Ben thank you for those 2 episodes it took me back to the small pond that I once swam in and I don’t miss it. This is a long reply but it stirred a lot of emotions and they needed to come out and I feel a bit better for doing so 🙏

So he has the piss took out of him on the door informs the police about the incident naming the bloke beats some young kid up in another venue then when he is finally going to confront his antagonist who only has one arm because the other ones in a cast he gives him a long lecture does nothing and quits the door.im not the hardest lad about but I’ve got a lot better stories than this and no book to show for it I might start writing about my own experiences on the doors
