Tufty was created by a mother who loves to create.
For me, pregnancy wasn’t fun, and postpartum wasn’t much better. I spent a lot of time sicker than I care to remember and with my mental health struggling. However, I found so much comfort in creating things for (and eventually with) my special boy. That year of my life taught me two things about myself: I was born to raise this precious child, and I wanted to spend the rest of my life creating things for him.
Fast forward a few months, and I am excited to get out of the house! I ended up signing a girlfriend and myself up for a rug tufting class. Of course, we loved the hobby; and I didn’t hesitate to buy my own tufting gun, frame, cloth, and yarn. I was going to do this. I was finally going to have a hobby!
After tufting more rugs for my son than we have space for, I realized I was going to have to start gifting some of the rugs I was making. Fortunately, the holidays were approaching, and I have a large family. There was nothing stopping me from making tufted rugs now. In fact, I actually had to tuft!
I would share my rug progress on social media, and it wasn’t long before people were asking me for custom rugs! What? People wanted to commission my rug art?! I was absolutely blown away.
It’s always been important to me to show my son how to be a hardworking person; lead by example, right? This is my time. It’s time to create Tufty. Handmade rugs by a mother tufter."
