- Most of the questions I get asked on a daily basis are wonderful to hear. It shows people care about their animals and want to improve their husbandry. But I can't lie, some of the questions asked are just kinda stupid, from poisonous pythons to weird hybrid breeding ideas. Today, I highlight a few of my "favorites".

What the heck? How can you expect a living thing not to EAT?

When will my bearded dragon grow wings and learn how to breath fire?
You have to shave its beard, first.
I think you have to feel for wing stumps. Massage is shoulders to check. Also, it will develop kerosene glands around the same time, so you should also check its throat as well. Males get them at around three, and females at twelve.
Dragon fruit unlocks that upgrade.
Oh! Don't get too close to the mouth when checking for the glands, just in case. And use glass or asbestos bedding to keep the animal safe from fire. I like to mix asbestos powder and glass slivers, with a bit of Mercury drizzled in to maintain humidity. It also seems to help them develop the raspy breathing that proves their kerosene glands are fully developed. Mine's growing so fast she's slept for a week straight! Good luck!

The commonality of that statement infuriates me. My mom pulled all of that. I question the strength of any grown adult that is threatened by a 3lbs animal with no limbs.
See I’m only 15 and I own a ball python and the most question I get about my pet is “does it bites?????” People everything bitessss
I know this is late, but as a 14 yr old with a boa constrictor I completely relate to this 😂
I get "do snakes poop?" more often than most
I totally asked about snake poop with my first snake haha I knew they did but...what does it look like? Where does it come from? Omg embarrassing noob 😂
lmao my mum asked that about my lizard xD
I used to think that snakes didn't poop but regurgitate everything they didn't digest
Maddi G nope... they metabolize their waste to use for energy later 🙄
Star Shine learned that one the hard way when I felt something wet on my leg and then found four solid turds on my thigh 😂😂 my ball python got too comfortable with me
I got a ball python recently. The day before she came in, my boyfriend asked me if they peed and pooped🤦🏽♀️

Wow.
No they’re like owls. They hack everything back up, through their intense digestion system

I was selling my California Kingsnake. I had a guy call me up and ask me: "Has it been de-venomed?"
I was so surprised, "Dude.. It's a KINGSNAKE, they aren't venomous...."
Needless to say, I didn't sell to him... he also wanted to barter with frozen shrimp instead of paying with money :D

Can snakes be gay
Hi Ya obviously, have you seen Draco
Toasty Ghosty
Uhhh actually no I haven’t seen GAYCO
Questionable
Can you be gay
@APAR -arron plays and reacts no
ah yes, everything in existence:
- reptiles
- everything else
“Corn snake and ball pythons are the best starter snakes”
Some people “WHY NOT A MIX OF BOTH”
can i house my corn snake with my ball python or will it turn it gay?
They will turn gay within 1-2 days of being cohabitated if you keep the humidity around 65%
Yes they will turn gay unless it’s the opposite sex then you’ll get cornballs
Don’t some animals rape each other though to like assert dominance or whatever? Just saying it’s possible, but they’re more likely to kill each other than fuck each other.
@@allpowerfulmitochondria759 I like how serious your answer is. :'D
It will turn gay because it will develop a fondness for balls.
Anytime I talk about my leopard gecko or bearded dragon, people go "Does it bite????"
Like, does your dog? Your cat? Your bird? They CAN, but if you've raised them right, they won't.
That, or "Aren't you afraid it's going to eat you?" Uh. No. He's like a foot and a half long. He'd choke on the tip of my finger, okay. Unless you have a pet crocodile, you probably don't have to worry about your reptile eating you.
My wife whenever I talk about getting a pet
I honestly don't mind the "Can it bite" questions. I think most of the time people are really asking if it will bite and if it's in that animal's particular behavior to bite, not if it physically can. Which imo is a very valid question. I wouldn't say any reptile that was raised right won't bite. I have a gtp that was raised very well and it still has an attitude. If someone were to run up to me and pet it, they'd probably get tagged. If someone ran up to me, asked if it bites, and then kept their distance after me saying yes, that'd be much smarter. I also have a leo I got from someone as a retired breeder. While I take good care of her, I don't think she got much interaction from her previous owner so she does try to bite sometimes. It's good to ask that question rather than assume an animal's behavior. Regardless of how they were raised or even if they're typically considered a mild mannered reptile like a leo.
A retic and Burmese python could eat you...or try at least.
When I tell people my bis will reach 7ft they say it will eat me. It's quite annoying because even at that size it probably wouldn't be able to kill me much less eat me
Snake Discovery may be able to relate to the whole crocodile thing lol
I’ll be holding my boa Atlas when I go outside and once someone asked me “Does he bite?” And I’ll be like “Yes, his food.”
“I’m 12 can I get a leopard gecko?” Lol I got my first gecko at 10 they were the best
I get the question "How long until you have to start feeding it rabbits/pigs/dogs?" far too often. Like, my dude, this ball python ain't gonna get big enough to eat your dog.
when do you feed ball pythons humans
When it grows to about 12 ft and the extra heads start to develop. At this point, it is recommended to feed fresh, free range humans.
@@moistowlette8749 My snake only grew 12 heads by the time of adult and it hasn't been growing any more, will this be a problem
ArsonGamer This may be caused by impaction. Bone shavings are *not* recommended for your snake. Switch to a safer bedding, like powdered souls.

I feel like this is a valid question since a lot of European countried don't allow selling pets to kids under 16.
Your not allowed to buy birds and certain pets so it seemed vaild. Under 18 can’t buy pets here
So I’ll be getting a panther chameleon tomorrow and I have a panther so I was wondering if my panther chameleon will eat my panther. Chester is a very nice kitty and I don’t want my panther chameleon to eat him. What do I do?
I'm not sure if the chameleon in your pfp is your's but it's adorable 🥺
•DragonFruit• he is not I took a picture of this guy from a reptile expo, he’s a nosy-be panther chameleon!

It should. Same thing happened with my beardy and chameleon. I had them in the same tank and then one day I came home from school and I only saw a single leg of the chameleon. I guess he was camouflaged really good

Hey, I‘m getting five grown up reticulated pythons in a few minutes, they‘re not pOiSOnoUs, right?
Noah Petek oh and can I keep them all together? They are all male

I have a homosapien that I ordered of the dark web. Is it alright in the shed?
That's where I keep mine.
@The Confusing Riddle Yeah, I hate when it whines, "I'm hungry," "I'm in pain." Shit like that.
i keep mine in the basement, but i keep it out during the winter and summer months.
Yes, I guess it is alright, as long as you put a firm lock on the outside from keeping it from escaping. They are real escape artists, so be careful, you could lose one! Also, you can feed him dry oatmeal and apple slices 3-4 times a week.
@OLD BIRD CHOZO making jokes out of the things that scare us is the only way to get through them. People like you end up depressed. It's harsh but true
when people come to see my reptiles and there being relatively active "look its moving!" why are you so surprised ?
Honestly tho, I own 4 and have an erratic sleep/work schedule, so I'M surprised when I see them just noddle-ing around without me taking them out lmao
I think they are surprised because when people visit the local zoo and they visit the reptile building the snakes are usually sleeping or being still. So if they see one move it's exciting to them.
Lol ikr my friend flipped out when he held my bearded dragon and she “moved”
Honestly she’s alive what was he expecting
Well, its, also not surprising that they are surprised. Owning a reptile is not as common as owning a dog or a cat, they don't see them often and ( as already mentioned) they don't move at all in the zoo.
It’s just fascinating to them, obviously it’s dumb but I think it’s nice when people see my hognose and get excited over it moving or being so cute looking

"is it slimy?" Ugghhhhh, hate that one, like okay, I understand, sure, a lot of people ask that question. But who has answered 'yes' to that question for it to have gone on for so long??
I had one person in my college English course last week who was genuinely shocked when I told him snakes weren't slimy. I had to explain that they're shiny like hair or nails, not oil or water.
Maybe it's because frogs are really wet and most people have not touched a snake but probably caught a frog sometime in their life?
Or maybe because snakes slither about and obviously they need to be slimy in order to slide on the ground (snakes are not snails tho)
I think it comes down to people not knowing what slimy means. I’ve had countless people touch a snake at my workplace and then exclaim “wow, so slimy!” 🙃
Tbf I also wondered if they were, or couldn’t really tell if they looked more shiny or slimy. After having a corn snake, ball python and Burmese python I can confirm they are not slimy 😂
I'm freaking out!! I think my Milk Snake is Lactose intolerant! 😱 Does it need a vaccine???
Back when I owned a bearded dragon, Someone asked me if he could photosynthesize because of his greenish coloration.......I honestly wish I was joking 😅
Technically he can tho
I get asked if I am afraid of our red tailed boa eating my toddler. The boa is in a solid wood enclosure with a solid wood frame plexiglass door that has a padlock and the gal eats small rabbits. Yes a bite would be bad. No she won't eat my kids.
Theoretically speaking, on the one blue moon day you didn't lock up properly or someone was helping you right before a big New Years party, the snake could escape it's enclosure, make it to your toddler's room, randomly decide to grab and wrap the child, the child would be unable to breath properly to call for help and you're still at the party downstairs and can't hear the baby monitor, and even if the snake can't successfully ingest the toddler it might panic and summarily asphyxiate them...
... But your child has a higher chance of being killed by the family golden retriever, or one of the visiting New Years party guests, or *lightning.*
You probably get asked the question enough that it annoys you that people think you put no thought into the care and keeping of your own animals; they're acting like you're naive or delusional. I'm assuming the reason your snake has padlock on its enclosure is because you both respect and care for the well-being of the snake and have thought of the ways it could potentially escape and do harm unto itself, and for the snake's best interest have made it difficult to escape. Even that much foresight is likely enough to prevent weird hypothetical scenarios from ever playing out.
I am getting a new pet mouse. It is ok to keep it with my ball python, right?
Yea, its perfectly safe. You can keep a mouse and python together. If you dont see the mouse in your enclosure, that just means its sleeping in its shelter
Another question. How do you find an escaped mouse? I have looked through my entire cage and he wasn’t their. Are there any tricks to finding them?
@@irondolphin9387 Well usually when I've lost my mouse I get another one. They're really good at escaping their enclosure. Of course, what I've found is that for some reason, when you have mice and snakes together, the snake usually doesn't want to eat, particularly after the mice escape. So maybe separate them.
Naw, mice are cheap, just keep getting mice and fitting them inside
there is actually a guy who keeps a mouse with a ball python and apparently they have been getting along really well for quite some time
Can i keep multiple rats in the same tank with my ball python and do they need water?

lol captive bread
I think the stupidest misconception about feeding snakes frozen foods is that they have some sort of hunting instinct that only live can satisfy. This goes back to the tendency for certain pet owners to assign canine behaviors to their reptiles because it's easier to understand. Snakes don't have a hunting Instinct. They're opportunistic feeders. In the wild they are just as likely to eat something recently killed on the ground as they are to strike live prey. And snakes don't hunt. They wait for a field mouse or a frog to come to close to their territory and strike when opportunity presents itself. They have no instinctive desire to chase down prey in most situations like wolves do. They wait for food to come to them
Not all snakes are opportunist feeders. Some species do hunt
It’s like saying I need to have rats in the house to satisfy my former street dog hunting technique.
Don't mean to be nit picky, but yes some species actually do actively hunt down prey.
I said I was thinking on getting a corn snake to my friend. She immediately said “if you do, I’m not coming to your house ever again”
