I read some music critic somewhere who called the Hammerklavier a symphony Beethoven wrote for the piano... and now that's what I hear when I listen to it. Almost like a transcription of a Beethoven symphony. Also, phenomenal playing and interpretation by Jae Hong Park!
Have you heard Weingartner’s orchestration? See how well you think it works as a symphonic piece.
Incredible piece. Incredible performance.
how are you holding up my friend? are you still in the military?
Finally some pianist who plays the final section in the trio of scherzo in the right way!!! BRAVOOO
powerful and still surprising even after having listened to it 100 times.

Thanks! I've always had trouble conceiving the 3rd movement in sonata form...
Wow.. this powerful, dynamic live performance is worth listening to.
Engaging performance-I was pleasantly surprised
Beautiful music of Beethoven 🎹🎶
wow great performance
0:00 Allegro
10:27 Scherzo assai vivace
13:06 Adagio sostenuto
32:01 Largo
20:26 wtf this key signature
Just 3 times a natural sign to “cancel out” the 3 sharps and then 3 flats. It’s not necessary but still done quite often to avoid confusion when going from sharps to flats and vice versa
@@emielgeertsthanks for the explonation! Doesn't sound that complicated anymore 😅
incredible agogics
Unfortunately, I tend to disagree. Listen to adagio sostenuto movement and pay attention to 'molto espressivo' and 'con grand espressione' remarks in the score. They are all played as if to a metronome.
Nice engraving!
Great performance, even though the Adagio is on the slow side: you cannot be close to Beethoven's tempo indication in the first movement, and stray from it in the third!
Is that a high G-flat at 11:30? That's a lovely addition
