  • The Lynton & Lynmouth Cliff Railway - UK funicular railway - Fully Water Powered.
A short trip to North Devon, to the Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway. Opened in 1888, the LLCR is the longest and steepest fully water powered railway / funicular, in the UK. It is astonishingly steep, I'm not sure the video really shows how steep the 1 in 1.3 gradient is. There are 3 bridges spanning the railway. The ‘North walk’ bridge, the middle bridge, and (unsurprisingly) the lower bridge, the latter 2 carry a zig-zag spur of the south west coast path. Having parked in a car park near the top of the hill, and being too lazy to walk back up, I bought a ticket to ride. Nearby is the Lynton and Barnstaple Railway, they open later this year, and a video will come out later in the year.

I hope you enjoy this video, if you do, please like, comment and subscribe, it really is rather flattering.
