    Almost whole of Serbia was liberated in 1941. by joint effort of partizans and chetniks. They fought together, because both were serbs, from same towns, same families even, and results were good, but very soon it became obvious political differences between leaders are too big and they started fighting each other, splitting serbian antifascist movement and bringing great misery to our people.

    You cant make program to call someone serb, its ethnicity. Serbs are people, not a nation. Its origin, and blood, a tribe, dont know if you understand. You are Serb if your parents, grandparents etc are Serbs, you cant 'become' Serb. My ancestors on mother's side are bosnian Serbs, and they never considered themselves anything else but Serbs, as long as memory goes. Names and surnames of ancestors show that too.

When we talk about Battle of Neretva both (Chetniks and Partisans) had moments of tactical cooperations with Axis, everyone did it in different phases of battle. The main difference is the thing that Chetniks cooperation has been more like military cooperation and Partisans cooperation has been more like political cooperation.

    • @user-uq7dn8ub6y
      @user-uq7dn8ub6y Před 2 lety

      @Ž Š That is exactly the case you mentioned now and I mentioned in my previous comment when we talk about partisans political cooperation. Of course that is not cooperation based on ideology but that cooperation came from tactical needness. Both (Germany and Croats on the one side and Partisans on the other side) had feared by possible allies landing, everyone because of their own interests and they had chetniks as a common enemies. It is the case known in history as the March negotiations. That happened during the Battle of Neretva or during The Fourth Enemy Offensssive(operation named like that in Socialistic Yugoslavia) or Operation Weiss(That is how Germans called that operation).

    Actually thats not true. That goes only for croats, who started claiming all catholics are croats somewhere arround 1901, after great bishop conference and actions of pope Leo XIII. Serbian nationality and identity was already well formed long before that. At times of serbian uprisal against Turks in 1801, bosnian Serbs call themself serbs, and supported uprisal, and same was with prior rebelions in Montenegro/Herzegovina. Bosnian 'identity' is local, geographical, and not ethnical.

    • @MladenPostruznik
      @MladenPostruznik Před 2 lety +2

      Nope. There is a problem here. You have to understand one thing here. Serbian and Croatian history is divided. We Croats are Catholics, Serbs are Orthodox. But, we are one. We speak the same language. On their Eastern side, they had their freedom, we were still under Austrian-Hungarian slavery. Finally, after the First World War finished, we could be together. It was because our Serbian bros won that war. Austrians made us Croats fight against them. Finally, in the Second World War, we fought side by side. We won. Never a Croat was better just when he fought with a Serb by his side. When we Croats and Serbs fight together, we are a deadly combination. We go to hell and back. And that was our Yugoslav anthem. Neće nas pakao smest. The hell will not take us away.

      People in my village in Serbia the whole time thought that partisans, that were later announced as heroes were killed by the same DM chetniks, when they were actually killed by Serbian fascist under nazi command. I later checked the facts in wikipedia. So, this is just an example that people actually have no idea who were the killers. Since, chetniks were Kingdom of Serbia and later Yugoslavia special forces, that term was very popular back in the day. In Serbia alone, there were 12 groups that called themselves chetniks, but only JVuO chetniks were portrayed in all the movies as killers and fascists, when in fact the truth was quite opposite. And that's a problem. People who really fought for their country were made into war criminals. Their families can't even receive medals of honor for their bravery in public because a huge number of people still believes communist movies propafanda.

    Unfortunately political differences appeared very early in regard to organizing the government in liberated towns, partizans were communists, and chetniks royalists and soon they started fighting each other in late autumn/winter 1941. However, all these people raised against germans to liberate Serbia, so putting chetniks in same perspective as croat ustashe, albanian and muslim who willingly greeted Hitler, formed SS units and sent troops to Eastern front to help Germans is wrong.

    Every Chetnik fought for one fascist power or another. The western allies didn't ditch them until later in the war when it was obvious the Partisans would win. Mihajlovic may have been a little anti-German at first, and he was supported by the Italians. He later openly declared that his goal was not to fight the occupiers, but merely the Partisans. For the most part Mihajlovic's only major accomplishment was killing civilians.

    • @masinacmafia
      @masinacmafia Před 3 lety +6

      People seem to forget that Mihajlovic was a decorated veteran from world war 1 as well as the Balkan wars so he wasn't a little bit anti german but a whole lot. His own wife and kids were in concentration camp Banjica at one time. Also what the hell was he doing in a goddamn forrest during the entirety of the war unlike Nedic (Belgrade) and Pavelic (Zagreb) and why was there a warrant issued for him dead or alive in the same amount as for Tito in 1943. by the Germans ? No sane person would believe that Draza would go around his native Serbia and butcher his own people. There was nothing he could realistically do ,since Hitler himself ordered 100 Serbs killed for every German dead and 50 for wounded, except suppresing an evil which is not far from fascism in its cruelty and destruction, that is communism, until ,he thought, the allies opened a front in Greece like they did in WW1. He made huge miscalculations and errors which in the end cost him his life but he kept his word and served honorably till his last breath. He could'be easily run away. That is not to say that some other Chetniks weren't butchers and scumbags. Over most Draza didn't have direct control except their lip service that they serve the king. Chetniks were never a unified group but a legacy from the time prior and during the Balkan wars especially from the various insurgencies in Macedonia. Every Vojvoda could do as he saw fit most of the time.

Its historical dutchies, all inhabbited by same people. Prior to forming bosnian mediaval state there is no single mention of bosnian 'tribe' or 'nation' among slavic tribes in blakans, and also no mention after bosnia fell to turks. Clearly its just geographical/historical term, and people are serbs.
