    I'm so bummed I didn't order one of these at a much better price much sooner!😣 Is it normal that they sell out because it's the beginning of Summer? Hope that doesn't mean they are selling out for good? They are on average normally priced at $69. (I edited my last sentence now that the link brings me to the single person kayak)🙂

    • @Terradrift
      @Terradrift  Před 4 lety +4

      The price seems to fluctuate at random. Not going to lie, that's pretty annoying. It was $100 about a week ago and now its listed at $64.97. Apparently they're trying to get them back in stock. It looks like the only other kayak they have in stock at the moment is the Excursion Pro: amzn.to/30kaiBW

      @@Terradriftthanks so much for the reply! I discovered this Challenger K1 Kayak almost a year ago in a group that went kayaking and gal said it was the best investment she's made! I have been eyeballing it ready to buy it (well almost lol) these last couple months and panicked a little when I saw they were gone and prices went way up! But you are correct they were on Amazon again for $64.97 so I jumped right on it and ordered it...Yay!😁 See what a pandemic does to us? We panic when something goes out of stock like it might be gone forever LOL!😂 Happy kayaking!😎👍

      @@secretamericayoutubechanne2961 thanks for the info but I have been researching this kayak this whole past year and was aware of the prices and stock everywhere online they were ever available. Hardly think they are extremely dangerous. Although depending on the waters you are in any kayak, especially inflatable has the potential to be dangerous and agree a life jacket should always be carried on hand👍

    I have a K1, and I'm not very tall, 5'8"/172cm, so a couple of things I do. First, like they mentioned, I don't inflate the bottom pad of the seat, because with the bottom pad deflated, I'm sitting a few centimetres lower in the kayak for better center of gravity and to me, the kayak then feels even more stable. Besides, you're already sitting on the cushioned lower section of the kayak anyway. Secondly, I don't install that green wedge at all. It does little for the nose of the kayak, and I get along just fine without it, while giving myself a bit more leg room. Happy Kayaking!

      Hi Tom! Great idea about the seat. Could you let me know how you inflate? If I use the included 10 cm guide, my K1 doesn’t seem fully inflated and when I get into it, it’s rather saggy. I’m an average sized female and in all the pics I see, even with large men, it still looks fully inflated and rigid. I’m wondering if people disregard the 10 cm guide?

    • @polymathperspective
      @polymathperspective Před 3 lety

      This is very true about being better balanced because I didn’t even use the seat when I used this at sand beach Acadia National park when I went out to Old Soaker. I wanted to be as low as possible in waves like a missile so I don’t flip easier being propped up in the seat.

    • @TomH7259
      @TomH7259 Před 3 lety +2

      Since the original post, I've modified my seat setup a bit. I do install the seat now, but I only inflate the backrest. I leave the "seat" deflated. This allows me to use the bottom of the seat velcro and also the backrest straps, while still lowering my center of gravity

This kayak, for the cost, is absolutely top notch. Can handle large stumps and rocks without punishing you or the material. 200lbs person fits safely.

Kayaks have come a long way in the last ten years, give 'em a try! You just need to understand what they are made for. like I've said, I've had a ton of fun with mine over the years. I bought one on ebay. I returned it two weeks after its maiden voyage. The setup was easy, transport was easy inside my Honda Civic Hatchback. But once I got on the water, the thing listed to one side. There is no way it was under-inflated, as I followed all the instructions, and used the little strip of plastic and lined it up with the corresponding marks on the kayak. I addition, the bottom and top chambers have their own fill valves. The kayak was defective. We had fun on the water for July 4, but on July 5 I bought a hard shell kayak. I bought the Intex because I’ve had a lot of intex products and they do make a good product.

    I have 2 of these, have been using them all summer and they've held up great. I am 6'4", 225lbs and they hold me well. I don't put my feet inside the kayak, I put them on top where the webbing is. They're comfortable, like a big air mattress. The paddles are decent but you could get a better one for sure. Over all, for the money, they're totally worth it. I would buy these on off season, during the summer they've been sold out every where and the price is way higher in the summer, expect to pay $75-100 for them on the off season.

    I'm hopefully taking mine out for the first time today, the only part I'm worried about is actually getting in and out. I'm 6ft1 so the idea about not inflating the bottom pad of the seat is a very good idea, I've sat in the kayak in the house and it seems very sturdy and has plenty of room for my long legs. but like others the green nose cushion seems pointless for me so it will be staying at home.
    the weather isn't the best today but I didn't get one just for sunny weather so hopefully it handles well in a bit of wind.

    This kayak is great. Friends and I just got ours and have been out a few times. I just ordered an Air pump with a car adapter… The pump it comes with works great but you have to be bent over to use it so I want to relieve as much strain as possible :-) I am not a small girl and in fact I slightly exceed the weight limit, but it still works fine if that helps anyone else to decide. I figure I’m sitting on the inflatable bit on top of water (ie, not a hard surface) so I’m not going to pop the kayak! I also tried both ways: inflating the lower seat which is a separate chamber to the backrest, and leaving it flat, I’m not sure which one I like better but it’s nice to have the option). I’ve got some gorilla tape as well just in case it does get a puncture, but it comes with patches. The other day a boat went past us (friend and myself) for the first time and the waves made us bounce a bit which was rather awesome. However my husband tells me next time we need to face into the waves so it doesn’t knock us over. Luckily the waves weren’t that high! If it helps anyone decide, I’m not super sporty although I try… My balance isn’t great and like I say I’m a bigger girl, but this is working fabulously and I am loving it. Get on your local Facebook pages or kayaking websites to find a nice calm river or a lake near you, and just go for it. It Is easy to carry yourself, however my friend and I have decided will do it two of us at a time. We are both in our mid to late 40s and figure the last thing we want is to strain anything before we’ve even gotten in the kayak! Ha ha. But absolutely I recommend this kayak. Not big, not heavy, very manageable and easy to store. The paddle can be feathered or straight, the air pump works beautifully, the only extra things we need to buy are the emergency boat kit and your lifejacket. Oh and Amazon has great waterproof phone holders that come in a pack of two for your keys and your phone so… No excuse not to get out there! Oh, and I was a bit worried about the fin or skeg because I don’t know how to get in the kayak off the dock yet so I was worried about it breaking off scraping along the ground when I launch from a beach. I got in about thigh-depth and it was fine. I do not mind getting wet for the cause! :-)

      This kayak isn't quite heavy-duty enough for that. You can certainly look for heavy duty inflatable sea kayaks for that!

      @Terradrift  Před 4 lety +1

      Josh is 5ft 6in and his feet sort of "fit". The top of the boat is probably going to come into contact with your feet to some degree. I think the manufacturer's original intention was for paddlers to have their knees up when in the boat so your feet weren't completely covered, based on the instruction manual diagram.
