Damn, 'if you don't go with me, I'll take this whole vile of heroin.' That right there is a massive sign of a failed relationship, before it even started. This is one of the most amazing stories of Rock~N~Roll. It is really a blessing they all were mature enough to remain friends and move on with class and style.
You have to wonder in Eric's case whether his deep involvement with Pattie was psychologically a way to bond himself to George. I'm sure that Pattie was lovely, charming, fun to be with, and all that--but something deeper must have been going on. Something Oedipal. For as great a musician and celebrity icon that Eric was at the time, he did not reach the zenith of worldwide adoration that George achieved. Making it with Pattie became a way to psychologically validate himself on a higher level in his mind.
Ralph Adamo I'm sure the "Clapton is God" graffiti that started when he was in the Bluesbreakers, the acclaim of Cream and Blind Faith eased any jealousy he had over not being a Beatle.
Markle2k You might think that the acclaim Eric achieved would be enough, but when you reach the level that he has there are always higher mountains to climb. According to Ginger Baker, the esteemed drummer from Cream days, despite Eric's awesome talents, when he first heard Jimi Hendrix play, he was--in so many words--stung with envy. That's the funny thing about human psychology, and where the Oscar Wilde saying comes from: "There are only two tragedies in life: one is not getting what one wants, and the other is getting it." An example of this is Oracle founder Larry Ellison, who's worth $54 billion, has a gigantic yacht, amazing autos, etc. Yet he feels great dissatisfaction and frustration that Bill Gates is worth $79 billion. Being #5 or whatever isn't "good enough" in his mind.
The media portrays Eric as a wife stealer. But in reality, G&Ps marriage was already disintegrating anyway so George was like "sure you can have her, we're done anyway."
The other woman was Lori Del Santo, they had a son named Connor who later fell to his death through the window of a 53rd floor apartment building in Manhattan. His son's death led to him to write Tears in Heaven.
Such a lovely woman. Absolutely loved her book - I’m glad she came out of both of those relationships feeling okay. She deserves better than how the both of them treated her.
Patty was so beautiful Skin like peaches I loved Patty as she was so easy to get along with I wish you so well Patty Those 4 years traveling together were a thrill of a lifetime.
Can I just say, that I would be on fucking cloud 9 if I had two of the most baddest, legendary, stunning, rock musicians in love with me; writing songs about me? Like it must've been so tough for Pattie and all, but damn, I would never take anything for granted again. Just to feel loved, beautiful, and just appreciated would be a dream come true for most women and girls out there.
The integrity of a man commands that you just don't chase another man's woman. As tempting as it is, or she is, you don't do it. I'm amazed that George and Eric remained friends.
She has the same smile as she did all those years ago, i adore Pattie so much, i am a huge beatlemaniac and i feel as though i would be terribly lost if i had never found pattie, she is such a darling and continues to be just as gorgeous as she was, she is my idol and my muse and i would kill to look like her. 💕💕 so much love for Pattie and George, though their love story was tragic towards the end, they still continued with such a beautiful friendship
As a huge Beatles fan back then and still now - Pattie was always my favorite of their wives and girlfriends - even though many of my friends hated her!
She was in the right place at the right time. Without her spot on A Hard Days Night, she would have never been heard of. But she did make the most of it. Right in the middle of the 60's and 70's musical hurricane.
This was beautiful to see Patty again It has been so long and she is still as beautiful as she was back then I see her soul in those blue eyes It is no wonder those guys fell so hard for her.
She’s lovely Patty❤️ and to have the top 2 guitarists in the worlds must have been heady stuff! I’m happy she survived these 2 guys who couldn’t keep their zips closed. ❤️ Patti 🥰
How do you choose between the two? That's easy.. it comes down to "do I want to be treated like shit by George Harrison or do I want to be treated like shit by Eric Clapton?"
+123xconnieb Right on, I'm so glad someone else sees it like I do. Glad Patti is out of it now and appears happy in love with a real good guy! (According to her book)
+James Morris Yes, I agree there is two sides to a story, I read Eric Clapton's book also....he describes his behaviour during his alcohol abuse days and addiction and it coincides with reading Patti's book. So glad Eric finally got some help so he could have a healthy relationship and is happily married or so his book says.
+123xconnieb Well considering Clapton had a child with another woman while still married to Pattie, In her case you really dont know who to trust, certainly neither one of them
I simply know ONE thang and one thang only; if indeed the iconic and arguably greatest R&R studio LP ever, Layla was inspired by this woman well then may God bless her...
Frank Sinatra said "Something is the most beautiful song I've ever heard". Any way Pattie certainly inspired two great musicians, and ultimately three of my favorite songs. The spontaneous instrumental born at the end of "Layla" is my absolute favorite. Second only to the piece Hendrix pulled out at Woodstock.
What a beautiful, charming lady. I think she looks as good now as back in the 60s. She seems very warm and centered. I would kill to have a woman like that.
+colin676 George was better off with Olivia. Olivia was able to have children (Dhani), and Pattie could not. I am American so I a little biased to Olivia who is a Mexican American. Also, Olivia has aged better than Pattie.
After reading her autobiography, George was the better man, but.....not by much. Eric was downright creepy and manipulative. I always held George in the highest esteem for his spiritual direction. But the truth is, after reading the book, it seems like the Maharishi really messed with George's head. He was never the same after the Beatles returned from India. Instead of being more spiritual, it appears as his ego got inflated as he thought of himself as a guru with all rights to have a harem more than a husband. Pattie blames the massive amounts cocaine that George took as making him more withdrawn, but she talks about his meditating quite a bit. Both I believe were destructive. But Eric, psssssh, what a shallow narcissist.
AdventuresOfTheKanFam ..I just read Eric Clapton's biography and he had a severe drinking problem. It was far worse than the smack.. Eric was with every woman he wanted and they were more than happy to please him. Yep, he cheated on her big time. He said he wanted Pattie so bad but then after getting her it was no longer fun and his so called love for her went away.. I do love Eric Clapton. He had a screwed up childhood.
Loved Eric's guitar playing and the Layla LP yet he was just messed up in the head to treat his best friend so crappy by "falling" for George's wife Patti. It's like stabbing George in the back. Patti was cool through it all for the most part. I think they both were too young to marry anyway and happy George fell in love again.
Pattie Boyd damn well deserved the title of Queen of Rock. She was extremely beautiful, and you’d have to be the Queen when you inspire songs like Layla (one of the greatest rockers of all time) and Something (the greatest love song of all time)
Rita Coolidge wrote the entire second half of the song with Jim Gordon for another song she planned to release called "Time (Don't Let the World Get in Our Way)," and she was rightly angry after hearing it on "Layla" and not receiving credit for it. The song was then recorded by her sister, Priscilla, with Booker T. Jones (Priscilla's then husband) in 1973... but this time, it was Jim Gordon who didn't get the co-credit!
Not only that, but even Eric's half of "Layla" has melodic inspirations: Duane Allman came up with the main riff after hearing Albert King's version of "As the Years Go Passing By."
no matter how Patty Interpetates those songs and those days i personally want to thank her for whatever Magic she has in her Heart and Soul for inspiring two of the most Beautiful songs inmy life in 1990 i married the Love of my Life it didn’t last very long but we do have two Awesome Children as a result of that Union and when i was asked by my Fiancé what song i wanted to be our Wedding Song and first Dance without hesitation or any regrets it was Wonderfull Tonight my Ex Wife and I aren’t married but we do remain Freinds so thankyou Patty for being the Inspiration of such a touching song
This interview helps me solve some conundrums in my life. Thank you, Pattie. ... My husband is a musician. He plays "Wonderful Tonight." And Layla is one of my favorites of Eric's songs. .. But even as the muse that you are, the men could not be faithful, and you still couldn't keep their attention. (Not an insult to you at all!!!) Sometimes, I just feel invisible. ❤️ ... This helps me know, IT's NOT ME! 😃 .. I'm starting nursing school at 51 years old. I think I'm really going to like being a nurse.
Its impossible to judge people not knowing precisely all the pressures and circumstances they were living under. two great artists who created dreams and gave hope to others through their music and the woman they both loved. Had it not been for Pattie we would never have had "something" or "Layla".
I can believe that George really was the love of her life. Olivia Harrison has said that George had a tremendous affect on women. She said even a few words from him directed at you as a woman would stick with you forever. I am however glad in the petty side of me that George did get Eric back. He had a weekend affair in 1991 with Eric’s wife in Japan around the time they did a concert there together ... she has said that he was tremendously tender even though they had sex the whole weekend they talked as well and he was incredibly kind and held her as she cried about how Eric was icing her out since their sons death.. She also answered his questions and listened to him as he shared how he felt about the whole Patti/Eric thing which really affected him more than he led on this woman never forgot that weekend and has said it was one of the most passionate and tender times of her life which further proves Olivias point. He was an amazing man and according to other stories as well a very attentive and wonderful lover.
CelestialSerendipity I agree with you. It is exercise in futility to attempt to reason with haters. Believe what you want, feel what you want, create what you, let others deal with it as you go about your life not interfering with how they live theirs. I never waste my time on haters - they don't matter in the grander scheme of things, unless I let them install buttons or try find buttons others may have installed in me. Anyone can invite me to be mad by making comments they feel will push a button, but ultimately, I am the one who owns my feelings and I like happy ones, so I never accept invitations to be unhappy. I just wish them a happy day and move on. Another way to say it is to imagine your life is a bus loaded with the full range of your human emotions. Which one of one of your emotions do you want to put in the drivers seat and let it take you where it wants to go? That is why haters come on a forum, toss out some invitations and they hook into a button others have and then a forum like this will get filled up by spiteful, meaningless back and forth exchanges which will never change either mind and only convince the rest not pay attention to them. And sometimes it turns into a gang fight. Anyone who disagrees with me has the perfect right to do so, just don't expect me to respond to your beliefs as they are YOUR beliefs.
If I remember right in one of his interview.Eric said he didn't think it was love, but obsession he had. Also in one of George interview,he said he already knew that Eric had feelings for Pattie.Pattie said at one time she left George cause of his drug addiction. So we really don't know who to believe!
I have read some good comments about how George handled the triangle with Eric , his friendship with Eric and his everlasting love with Pattie till the end of his life even if he knew Olivia was the love of his life and that she saved him in many ways. Anyway I'd like to add that as human being there's no possible comparison between George snd Eric as George was an incredible great human being and Eric knew that when he organized the Concert for George. and when in Japan during an interview he explained why he loved George. Thanks God for the present of his life!!!
I just bought my Pattie Boyd halloween mask. My dog got so frightened of the mask, he ran & hid. George did the same thing. He was drunk for years, then went to India and sobered up. He looked at Pattie and ran for the hills.

Being #5 or whatever isn't "good enough" in his mind.
such a wonderful and humble woman! i see now why everyone was so in love with her
The media portrays Eric as a wife stealer. But in reality, G&Ps marriage was already disintegrating anyway so George was like "sure you can have her, we're done anyway."
Yeah, like - "My dear fellow, you're very welcome to her; I'm sick of the sight of her."
You dont do that today. Try that with a mans wife today who you claim to be friends with. That's called forfeiture of right to breathe.
@@scentlessapprentice88 honest to god truth right there. That’s the surest death warrant out there
No, it wasn't like that
She denies it herself
@@herbert9241 he was seeing maureen, ringos wife.
The other woman was Lori Del Santo, they had a son named Connor who later fell to his death through the window of a 53rd floor apartment building in Manhattan. His son's death led to him to write Tears in Heaven.
Excellent Song.

Two of the most beautiful songs ever composed buy two most gifted musicians for the same women. now that's amore
In spite of everything, she actually seems quite nice and down to earth.
Pattie, you are still 'Something'.
I never knew that George slept with Ringo's wife Maureen. Gee
This put a big smile on my face! Pattie has always been a class act, and a gorgeous and talented woman. It’s amazing hearing her wonderful stories.
Pattie was fortunate to have two great artists writing songs for her and not just any songs either.
She inspired some of the greatest love songs, thanks Patty.
Yeah. It kind of seems cringe-worthy on George's part. However, I think he admired Eric more, as a musician, than a man.
This is the most grounded comment here. Without integrity, one is nothing.
Or Ringo and George.
Real men live by this code.
Rock stars are not models of morality. They have different values and lifestyles
Thank you very much for sharing Pattie!
'Something' According to Sinatra the Greatest Love song Ever wrote . . . .
i agree with sinatra
Except the credited John and Paul for writing it ! Oops ! LOL
ever written numb-skull
What a very, very lucky lady to have had both George and Eric love you. It would be very hard not to fall for both these amazing men.
Wrong...she and her sister were big time model's in the 60's and all of the guys loved them.
+Joe Smith George Harrison spotted Pattie way before she did "A Hard Days Night.....
Fate
Those big blue eyes! Amazing! No wonder men fell in love with her! She seems so gracious too.
❤️ Patti 🥰
Frank Sinatra was heard to say that the song Something, is the greatest song ever written.
Imagine having a 3 best love song that ever written made for you.. that is mad
I adore this short documentary - thankyou for uploading! Even today, she is still as elegant, beautiful and captivating as she was in the sixties.
Thank you for being the muse of two great musicians. Blessings from Texas in 2022!
+James Morris Just read her book then you know why both 123xconnieb and myself agreed.
+123xconnieb Well considering Clapton had a child with another woman while still married to Pattie, In her case you really dont know who to trust, certainly neither one of them
The Money comes in handy though!
I simply know ONE thang and one thang only; if indeed the iconic and arguably greatest R&R studio LP ever, Layla was inspired by this woman well then may God bless her...
Inspiration for great songs, she is so unpretentious, wonderful lady.
both guys were talented. clapton still plays excellent guitar. harrison was in the greatest group. she is still a cutie.
hearing the clapton heroin story makes him sound like a huge bittch- and she is too
Pattie is a wonderful woman....and how lucky to have these songs written about her. Once in a life time!!!
What a unique destiny to be a Muse for these 2 great musicians ! I read her book and found her very sincere
She must have been a helluva woman to inspire THREE classic rock songs... for sure.
What a beautiful Woman Patti is. I can understand how she captured the hearts of these 2 Rock Legends.
I love her. She was & still is just lovely :)
Thanks for posting. Enjoyed very much!
What a beautiful, charming lady. I think she looks as good now as back in the 60s. She seems very warm and centered. I would kill to have a woman like that.
+colin6768 i know a woman like that? how old r u?
+colin6768 when you meet her, i expect nothing less than for you to write the 3rd most beautiful love song of all time
+julie miller I'll be 48 this June.
+colin676 George was better off with Olivia. Olivia was able to have children (Dhani), and Pattie could not. I am American so I a little biased to Olivia who is a Mexican American. Also, Olivia has aged better than Pattie.
I have a woman like that...68 looks like 48...but a cow....don't bother killing...
Wow, both are in my favorite songs... Something and Layla... what a muse!!!
Pattie Boyd: 1 beautiful woman
2 rockstar lovers
3 hit songs
@@irisheyzgrl24murphy92 Eric has lived a crazy life he was close to losing it all...
Jones (Priscilla's then husband) in 1973... but this time, it was Jim Gordon who didn't get the co-credit!
very good point!
Not only that, but even Eric's half of "Layla" has melodic inspirations: Duane Allman came up with the main riff after hearing Albert King's version of "As the Years Go Passing By."
She's gorgeous and so very charming.
Very interesting story! I'm glad I took the time to watch it!
08:15... George! He will be love of my life. 😊 patty and George both were Pisces ♓ that only explains evrything 😍
Do you know the song at 3.34?

no matter how Patty Interpetates those songs and those days i personally want to thank her for whatever Magic she has in her Heart and Soul for inspiring two of the most Beautiful songs inmy life in 1990 i married the Love of my Life it didn’t last very long but we do have two Awesome Children as a result of that Union and when i was asked by my Fiancé what song i wanted to be our Wedding Song and first Dance without hesitation or any regrets it was Wonderfull Tonight my Ex Wife and I aren’t married but we do remain Freinds so thankyou Patty for being the Inspiration of such a touching song
That part at the end about George made me cry. I love her so much 3
yeh lets get it right, she was stunningly beautiful, absolutley stunning.
This was way nicer than I imagined it would be.
Wow 3 amazing songs written for this lovely woman !
(Not an insult to you at all!!!)
Sometimes, I just feel invisible. ❤️
... This helps me know, IT's NOT ME! 😃
Wow, Wonderful Tonight is Patti Boyd, too!!! I'm Crying!
"Something" -- a love song for the ages. Rest in peace, George Harrison.
Damn, some people be hatin' on astrology in these comments lol who cares if she pointed out that she's a Pisces? XP
Anyone who disagrees with me has the perfect right to do so, just don't expect me to respond to your beliefs as they are YOUR beliefs.
she is wonderful today as it was in the 60s ...Layla i still love you and i will love you forever!
Layla is so beautiful I can see why Patti felt the way she did. Patti also seems very humble and unaffected.
She is so cute and lived an amazing, interesting life
I just bought my Pattie Boyd halloween mask.
My dog got so frightened of the mask, he ran & hid.
George did the same thing. He was drunk for years,
then went to India and sobered up. He looked at
Pattie and ran for the hills.
