those tones and composition make me think "sims 1" but not in a bad way. i listen to the OG sims soundrack when i want to relax and collect my thoughts, so in my eyes it's a compliment
Idk much about music theory but I know for a fact that those are very common (I think they're called borrowed chords, like you borrow them from other keys). From my own analysis they appear less frequently on pop songs, but they're still common.
@Ndreau They are usually called accidentals. Pop more than occasionally uses a harmonic seventh which is an accidental but aside from that its true that they are generally avoided. Most other genres will use them pretty frequently, Japanese music LOVES them and they are pretty incorporated into their pop. Modern jazz also basically exclusively consists of accidentals or is just a-tonal altogether which doesn't have notes from other keys because they just don't bother declaring a key cause they know they will be in a different one every two bars.
bro is one of the only guys on youtube who posts actually good piano roll content would go hard with some vocals, i wanna hear stevie wonder on sm like this
Amazing bro, is so peaceful and relaxing to the ear and soul, please loop it and just make it a 2 minute song!! But please don't go crazy on the velocity every 16 bars cause it'll kinda ruin that peaceful vibe
Bro this is so emotional and so, how do you say it, and like its a perfect depiction of life. Anyways, to short it up, This is awseome. Keep up the good work, bro!😄
i know absolutely nothing about music but i certainly know that this is one of the most beautiful pieces i've heard in my life so far - you truly have remarkable talent!
This is genuinely so good, oml Sounds like a credits theme that would be followed by a "Thanks for playing!" In the end Keep composing man,you have potential.
This is absolutely beautiful, that ending is perfection, the rising notes compliment each other so well. That was definitely worth a listen, as for the question, do whatever you feel. It’s your music, no one else can have any say, otherwise in a way it wouldn’t truly be your sound. Keep up the awesome work.
Your favourite song is sat on a random producer's harddrive, never released because it's "not their thing". Creation is about following your heart. If it points in a random direction one day, you follow it still, even if you never go that way again.
1:30:21 into a Studio Ghibli film where the protagonist is reflecting on how much she loves the friends she's made on her journey, and how she doesn't want to say goodbye
A tip you will appreciate in the future (cool composition btw): Play the notes in by hand (this is the faster way), or spend time editing the notes to be off just the right amount. For piano to sound natural, the grid and quantization is your enemy. Ignore the gridlines all together, and listen by ear where there needs to be a pause, the tempo can naturally shift, hurry somewhere, take its time elsewhere. And it's easier to fix something to be on time, than it is to fix it to sound naturally played, and to have feeling.
Yeah I totally know that! When it comes to humanizing the piano I do change the notes around to be a little off the grid, not as heavily in this one but it's there. I feel that making them too off grid on let's say chords, they get a wonky character and it definetely comes through if you would do that on all the chords. However I should probably incorporate this in some of the chords but not too many as it would become kind of annoying and predictable. I have composed completely off grid in some of my other compositions and is what I mostly do now. I find it really fun to do it that way as there aren't really any rules for how a composition should follow. As for automating tempo I'm in a bit of a pickle. When creating an automation clip for the tempo my cpu spikes all the way to 100 and it becomes impossible to work with. I will figure this out eventually as I really want to be able to mess with the tempo!
@@Tides16001 I'm not sure it's necessary to automate the tempo. If you can just change the tempo to a different one mid-project, you can just play the notes in by ear. Say you want to make the tempo go from 97 to 113, for example, in bitwig I usually just place a tempo marker, punch in the value I want, and make it jump immediately from 97 to 113, because all the tempo-based FX and LFOs don't actually sound nice when the tempo they're synced into is drifting. It's better to automate the parameters of the FX manually around the transition from one tempo to another, than to automate the tempo itself.
It's like as if Minecraft felt like getting complex, better and then turned tempo at the end. The only issue, I would add, is that now I wish to hear 15 minutes more. :)
I started this video giving it a chance, skeptical. Then I started raising my eyebrows at the specific chord changes and tastefully catchy wrap arounds. Then, I started crying completely and breaking down. Through tears as I type this, the answer to your question is YES. As a musician it is so beautiful every time to see someone find their sound.
I like the direction your taking, the build up and release of tension, it reminds me of quite a few obscure classical pieces I’ve found on CZcams, or maybe it could be a bridge in jazz, or the verse in an emotional pop song.
If you think it's you're new style, then you should definitely keep it. This sounds beautiful. Subbed to you're channel and looking forward to see what other masterpieces you create.

Thank you! There’s actually not much to it. I moslty pick out a few chords that I find interesting and split them into notes to fill up the space, then I try to add some sort of melody in top. I really like to do key changes aswell because it can really add that spice and even mystery.

only thing i would say is use a less transient heavy piano it will make the melody flow way better. right now there's like a punch at the start of each note that takes away the realism of the notes even though the velocity does vary
Well it’s not too difficult once you know what you’re doing :D Dynamics in velocity is really important to create variaty and make it more lively. Off-grid composing is really good too and is something i’ve started to do almost all the time. Tempo automation can be really powerful and make it sound more human.
