- Mark Smith has the honour of opening up a mystery box that is around 100 years old on behalf of the Shorncliffe Trust, a heritage and education charity based in Folkestone. What he found inside was incredible, including a medal that leaves Mark rather astounded!

The inscription on the medal should read: 2nd Canadian Mounted Rifles Brigade. He did fall sick on active when sent to France and perhaps that why his family were eligible for the Canadian War Cross if his death could be attributed to that sickness post war.

Wonderful stuff and who better to open that box other than Mark whose expertise shines through in his professional assessment. I was expecting to see a Victoria Cross but then that would have been asking a little too much!
