So the full pictures of the old images are what they drew a lot of inspiration from. Hence why we get some cool full cut outs in the game. They also drew inspiration from the actual mythology.
Fun fact the reason for the ax for Odin is because in the old image he had one. Otherwise yes they would have gone for a spear.
Kronos is purple because of the titan campaign final mission.
Personally I enjoy both styles. It doesn’t bother me. Give me good gameplay over complaining about art. Only thing I can agree with people that needs work that’s not gameplay is a couple of the Voice actors for campaign.

I didn't look that hard cuz I assumed it wouldnt be. Seems like there's a fair bit of criticism and accusations from the AoM subreddit even though Microsoft officially said it was not AI. Honestly looking at some of the evidence, maybe some of it is? Or maybe it's inconsistent quality and inconsistent art direction.

@@ZombieGrub The use is obvious is a lot of the god portraits, the minor gods are a little more egregious. I do not mind the AI, but the artists need to be reprimanded on the quality control. With AI making art accessible, I would like to see them bring out more artwork we can swap-in and out. Microsoft does not really need to be saving the money that AI affords...
