- REBAR ISN'T ALLOWED IN RESIDENTIAL RIGHT OF WAY POURS IN COLORAOD SPRINGS FOR THOSE THAT ARE ASKING. Customer had us tear out an old apron, sidewalk, and curb and gutter for their driveway. Then we poured back a larger apron centered with their existing driveway along with new sidewalk and curb and gutter.

Joe, Thanks for the vid it is very nice work. The touch you have with a brush is spot on.
Thank you for this comment. I think we all had a chance to brush it. I brushed part of the curb and sidewalk. One of the guys hit the apron. Glad you enjoyed the video. I appreciate the comment and support.
Dust mitigation is readily available for demo cutting. Should be second nature on private projects like this one.
10-12” concrete depth at the curb is not an uncommon requirement.
If you watch the video you will see We have a water tank for the saw. The start of the fut is dry so we dont lose our mark. After that we run a water tank. And we follow city code for curb thickness. Intersections are usually 8" inches thick with a #4 grid on 1 foot center. Thanks for watching.
*Congrats on hitting the 600* subs dude, a Little late, but we both r growing together just like the start, u know I got your back bro
I got lucky w that podcast
That podcast was awesome. And seems like we are staying close. Loving the editing you do. I need to work on my intro.
@@jmconcretecoloradosprings dude this video is perfect really good. don't change your style and use video as a learning. it was perfect. that will be the way to grow. just follow this video and content type content. I wish I was consistent, but I just rock on differently every video lol
@@jmconcretecoloradosprings u keep talking about that intro and tbh I don't think they are a good idea if they are to long, and I think they need to relate to the vid u r doing kinda like *CONCRERE W THE HAUSE* DOES
@@GRUBB-MUDD You make a good point. My videos are lean and straight to the point. And so is the intro. Plus it's easier and I'm a little lazy. Alot lazy lol!
awesome work man!
Thanks! It was a tedious project that's for sure.
👍🏽cool video!, I like the demo set up.
Thank you! I always love how technical city work is.
We need some more vids *Innovative concrete*
Good job holding that plastic, just like concrete w the hous
I have seen their setup but I feel like I'm gonna forget on a job and have it drip everywhere. Plastic does work well.
Love seeing latino owned business owner specially in concrete were were usually the help keep it up brother.
Thank you so much for your support and comment. I do see a lot of channels on CZcams where we are the help.
That's not always a good thing bro.
Sometimes our own people who own businesses are the ones that treat us the worst.
Like they won't give us an extra $20-$30 for a long job.
Also they will never waste a dime on buying us lunch and filling up the cooler with drinks.
@@troypolamalukingtroytrojan1538 We literally spend most jobs talking about how my finishers get worked to the bone when they help other guys. 3 guys pouring 20 yards. 4 guys doing 40 stamped. 9 guys doing 180. I spoil the hell out of anyone that works for me so that they can show up whenever I call. I keep it at 1 man per 2-2.5 yards max. And we pour between 7-9am never later. I have heard some messed up stories of my guys going to pour and having to help prep and pour and only get an extra $50. A whole bunch of bad dudes out there just taking advantage of our people. If you go through all my videos. I always have plenty of help so no one is struggling. I have been called the "vacation guy". Because working with me on pours is a vacation compared to other guys. Also I try to invite guys to lunch but most usually leave for the next pour somewhere else.
Joe doing big things!
Been a minute since I've heard from you. Hope you and your family are healthy and doing well. Thanks for stopping by and I appreciate the comment.
Thumbs up from JNJ solutions
Right on and thanks for watching!
Good job!
Thanks brother I appreciate your comment and support!
4 sure
Awesome work Jo. You have great content always. Have you figured out the 360 camera. Would be great to get some more shots with that now and again. 👍
Thank you for your comment and support! I have figured it out. Just haven't used it in a while. Probably should have on this project.
Nice broom!
I was pleasantly surprised how consistent it came out. Thank you!
Do u watch that Spanish concrete channel? GREAT CHANNEL, IF U HAVE TRANSLATION ON! Text
I did asphalt 1 time , we didn't do it like u, good job w that truck, WE " as finishers and owners do what we gota do" roll over it w the truck lol
A+++
Thank you for watching and commenting!
Do you have to get a permit from the city?
How much did this cost?
Hello I need help my friend. That cure does it help it look more white ? What kind of cure ? Is it any kind of cure? I been watching for a while now . Learned of you vids. Great work.
It's main benefit is it traps moisture inside the concrete and allows it to cure slower which will lead to a higher compressive strength. And the reason it's white is to reflect light to reduce surface temperature. It's called dayton superior white city cure (J10W). And thanks for watching. We should start posting videos again soon
I want to get into this. Do you learn on the job or , is there a certain school for this? If so, Is it called masonry or concrete school?
Also, what's the difference between truck concrete and already bag concrete? The truck concrete looks really smooth and I see no gravel/rocks.
I was taught by my father. But I would recommend finding a company that's hiring and starting from the bottom. That's how most do it here in Colorado. If you are near the east coast they might have trade schools. But most the people I know learnt hands on by starting as a labor and working their way up. First cleaning tools and digging, then framing, then finishing. The biggest difference in bag vs truck is truck concrete sets up faster, it finishes better, it costs less per yard, and it can be modified to your needs. The benefit of sack concrete is you can mix a small amount when needed. That's about it honestly.
I’m thinking about adding a driveway to my property since it does not have one how much will it cost me to get the approach done ?
Depends on the size but this customer paid $15k for this.
@@jmconcretecoloradosprings I plan on doing my self, what can the cost be around?
Special mix design for city work?
Yes you need to request a 6 sack city mix. I'm certain it's just a 4000 fly ash mix with a higher air entrainment percentage but yes. You need to order a "4000 city mix" to pour into city right-of-way. In all my years I have never gotten into the details of it because no one ever has an idea. But in a few months I'm gonna be talking to a mix tech for a ready mix company and this is one of the questions I'm gonna be asking.
Question from someone who knows nothing about concrete.
Why did you not line up the crack joints to the existing one in the driveway?
The spacing on the sidewalk has to be between 4'-5' feet in order to meet code. The current spacing was 50" inches. Moving it over to line it up would have had me in a code violation. I probably could have done it and the inspector would have given me a slap on the wrist. But it's best to not be on anyone's radar as someone who pushes the limit of code. It does line up like that sometimes and looks awesome. Great observation and good question. We also could have moved the other 2 lines. Both on the curb and the apron. But then those would not have been divided evenly.
@@jmconcretecoloradosprings good explanation
haha thick approaches.. at least this one didn't encase a 8" gas main!
Don't jynx it. Next one might have one! Hahaha. Didn't even have a water shut off so I was glad how it worked out.
@@jmconcretecoloradosprings Do any carved work? Just uploaded a 3 yd pour I did today..
@@anonymousprepper1463 What in the f*** is that!?!?!?! That is so cool! I can't even begin to plan how to make that happen. How long have you been doing carved pours? Does it require a special mix?
@@jmconcretecoloradosprings That's my Third one? I think well part of it. still have 5 yrds Thursday to finish that one. it's I believe a 9 bag mix, heavy sand. Basically sticky long grain mortar lol
@@jmconcretecoloradosprings I'll take some video on a how to, but still learning myself.
City work ..City Dollars..good Job
I should have clarified. It's city work on city property. Paid for by our customer the homeowner. But it does pay well due to all the steps involved and multiple pours. No way around that. Thank you for your comment and support.
@@TUGG75 Not really, everyone is paid more than well. It's all discussed prior to the work. All my guys are 1099 And no unions here. Plus almost everyone that helps me has done business with our family for a while. I imagine it gets hard in other states. But we are lucky that I know a good group of fellas who work hard and fast and I pay them well for the privilege of having them on my sites.
@@TUGG75 homeowner contracts me to do the work because city has them too far out. I call them for a pour. They get paid a flat rate per pour. Weather uts city or on private property all my guys get a flat rate. Usually $350-$500 per pour. Which is about 3 hours of work. So $100-$166 an hour on average.
@@TUGG75 I just make sure they are well taken care of and I make my money with my equipment and other flat rates. If my people are happy then they come help me whenever I call. Too many people in our industry take advantage of minorities thinking they aren't worth it. I believe the most valuable asset in our trade is good people. And good people cost top dollar.
@@TUGG75 I think they do it because the good ones get called up by a lot of local outfits for pours. In a good week with 2 or 3 pours a day they can make more than the contractors themselves. This is why they are all at a minimum insured and bonded. Problem is the bad ones with little experience do not get called back. This is why many of the better guys here have gotten 5-10 years experience with larger outfits prior to moving on to what they do now. I've considered doing it myself. It's just too physically demanding.
Where can I buy the orange track ?
Bobcat of the rockies.
Let me buy that 85 off u!
I am selling it.
who pays this? city or home owner?
In this case the home owner paid.
@@jmconcretecoloradosprings good job:)
No rebar...
Residential city right of way doesn't allow it in this case. If you look at all of our other videos we use rebar on everything.
What's the song played at 20:13
Not really a song. Its a audio track that comes with the editing software I use. It and a whole bunch of other music comes with the software that you can use that's ok to post on CZcams. The software is Adobe premier elements.

Why’s ur curb 3 feet wide?? Lol
