  • In this 3D carve on the Onefinity CNC, a friend (Tommy P) suggested laminating 2 different boards together and set the carve depth to the same thickness as the top board - easy to do in Carveco Maker software - so that the carving really stands out.
The design itself is a composition of two separate files, the eagle and the fish combined into one to give the appearance that the eagle is flying off with the fish. Materials used are 1/4” hickory on top of 3/4” Walnut.
    Thanks Tommy for the suggestion!

How long did it actually take to carve this piece? It’s gorgeous!

This one took about 5 hrs if I remember correctly. I glued a piece of 1/4” thk hickory onto 3/4” or 7/8” walnut and set the model carve depth to 0.256”...just enough to get past the glue line.

I was planning to do laminates when I get my machine and wondered why I haven't seen anyone do this yet... Now I won't be first :-( Nice project
