Betty Boop - Is My Palm Read - 1933

- Betty visits Bimbo the fortune teller for some advice, but Bimbo is only interested in making time with Betty. Bimbo's crystal ball predicts that Betty will be shipwrecked on a desert isle (during which time she sings part of the Irving Berlin song All by Myself), and attacked by evil spirits resembling poltergeists, but rescued by Bimbo. When Bimbo reveals himself by removing his fake beard, a happy Betty embraces him. Unfortunately, a group of the ghosts from the vision burst in on this scene, and chase the two to the desert isle. Betty and Bimbo eventually escape from the ghosts by tricking them into going off a cliff into the sea. -

Oh the colorized versions of these cartoons from the 80s are both colored & edited poorly and also censored poorly.

The old cartoons from the 50's and 60's have little hidden things here and there that are hilarious if you can catch them. Don't need all that now, we have people more retarded than the cartoons used to be.

If you were 10 when this came out, you would be 96 today. So, before all of our time. And like Laurel and Hardy or Little Rascals, it is timeless. A bit risque. But we love it.

Some scenes of this might have been deleted for the VHS like the one with Betty naked as a baby and the ocean hands touching her cause I never saw them when I was a kid.
I guess yes, when I was little I had a disk full of old animated shorts (this was one of them) I never saw those scenes
Bit creepy
The scenes of Bimbo and Koko checking out Betty's silhouetted legs, Betty undressing on the beach, the joke of the neon sign malfunctioning to look like a mildly disrespectful hand gesture, and the third ghost (ethnic stereotype) are cut from some versions, some more awkwardly than others (the removal of the silhouette bit doesn't make the same cuts to the audio as to the video, so that the dialogue and background music no longer make sense for the rest of that particular shot and the "walk this way" line is lost as a result even though Betty still mimics Bimbo's walk). Strangely, for as restrictive as some of those cuts seem, the shot of Bimbo and Koko prostrating themselves in worship before demonic-looking images remains intact.

betty used to be a dog x'D i think that's why her head is so weird shaped haha. Also, she was originally intended for adults, that's why the cartoons use to be risque. (at least for their time)
Most cartoons were for adults.
She wasn't human for the first 11 episodes she was in, but that pre-dates her own series. She was a side character in the "Talkartoons" series from 1930 - 1932, and she got her own series in 1932.

Yeah, there's nothing "weird" about it. Something being new or old doesn't give *any* indication either of its quality, or if you'll like it. The only exception I can think of now is with old food that went bad.

They can't. It's simply been too long since they were made for the style to be properly used again. They've tried to revive Betty Boop a couple of times, and it was stiff and awkward and unfunny.
