During her In Holy Flux tour in New Zealand, Letterboxd caught up with singer-songwriter Weyes Blood to chat about her four favorite films. #weyesblood #fourfavorites #indiemusic #letterboxd
Wow, for a Russian that I am it was a surprise to learn about Natalie's favourite movie of all time, I thought that she would pick up some cool intellectual movie but I expected something like David Lynch's work. Number 1 came as a huge surprise
She posted that "bring DVDs to the show" post AFTER the Asheville one 😤😤 bro you know I woulda cooked up some "I bet you would enjoy this" type filmé to the show had I known ughhhhhhhhh
I really want to see Possession but it’s so difficult to find it plus one place I found it it’s was too expensive sadly so but maybe I would get lucky at some point …!
Dekalog is a television show, though; I don't think it was meant to be watching in one sitting. Something like Lav Diaz's Evolution of a Filipino Family might be more fitting (or Ashraf Shishir's The Innocence, if you want to go long; while the film is in acts, I think it's meant to be watched continuously).
There's a few types of "four favorites" on Letterboxd. 1. The completely honest obvious picks that everyone has seen. 2. Trying to be impressive by only picking really obscure movies. 3. A mix of 1 and 2.
Cool interview, but why god _why_ feeling the need to shorcut her answers by chopping up any pauses in her talk. Why not just leave it flow like a natural conversation, taking time is ok.
Is this lady speaking about the original film "Possession" from 1981? Remember watching this and thinking it was just art house garbage but a lot of people really like it. I'm not going to watch Siberia.
No wonder she made song about movies because she really into it
This is truth
She loves movies.
I went and followed her on Letterboxd and now she has The Swimmer and Funeral Parade of Roses in her 4! The TASTE, fucking iconic
She actually knows about the art of film. Thats amazing. Great list and remarks.
She puts on a helluva show in concert. Can't recommend seeing her enough! Glad she has some great film takes as well.
Saw her in Melbourne and I almost regret not buying tickets for both nights, it was a great show
I'm going to see her at Red Rocks and in Boulder!
one of them people that if i ever met in person i would fall in love with 100% no doubt
Ong
You can tell that she really love the art of cinema❤
Her taste in movies really reflected her art & aesthetic in music. Such a great artist.
Another badass moment from Natalie.
I was looking for a nice, light, easy-going film to watch, so I think I'll give Siberiade a go. 👍
What an exceptional interview. What a great selection of films, and a magnificent dissection of them.
There was no interview!
oh, i love her tastes. "possession" is a film that i have never recovered from and it still scares the fuck out of me.
I love this cuz I fell in love with her music when I discovered her song, “Movies” 🤩
Seeing her perform her song Movies is unreal. She’s a great performer and has some awesome clips/visuals for the song. Loved it!

yeah she has a very eclectic taste, but it doesn't come off as pretentious. very sincere
Wow - she's really cool! I've gained a newfound respect for her.
Big flex

We can like movies from the Soviet Union lmao love u weyesssss
Siberiade caught me way off guard, not an obvious pick even for soviet cinima. I should probably rewatch and actually finish it lol
Great video bro, This is a very good top 4.
One of the smartest persons I ever experienced.
Hardcore is so overlooked. One of Schrader's best.
She has fire film taste
Nothing controversial about loving Soviet cinema. That so many great films were made under such a repressive regime, is a testament to the people.
MY FUCKING GOD I LOVE HER! TASTE!!!
She posted that "bring DVDs to the show" post AFTER the Asheville one 😤😤 bro you know I woulda cooked up some "I bet you would enjoy this" type filmé to the show had I known ughhhhhhhhh
😍😍
How am I barely seeing this
When Musicians have better taste than Actors
she loves movies
I've watched a few of these and she has a more interesting selection than most of the actors and directors featured in this series
I just found this woman and she's my religion now
I really want to see Possession but it’s so difficult to find it plus one place I found it it’s was too expensive sadly so but maybe I would get lucky at some point …!
possession is a great choice remarkable weird movie.
i love you!
Only 6 hours long? Those are rookie numbers! Watch Dekalog, a breezy 10 hours!

Ada ada saja
In Japan she knows Wim Wenders - Wings of Desire (Der Himmel über Berlin), but you know, she felt really bad at that time...
Te pinches amo, Natalie.
"It says so much in that 6 hours" girl, I hope it does because 6 hours is really a lot of time to say anything.
guys i think she loves movies
be still my beating heart
amazing picks
She needs to watch The Swimmer.......like right now.
Santa Madre
LOML
Is there any election in the US this year? She would be a smart president.
TRY " A HIDDEN LIFE " BY TERENCE MALICK
Apparently it's controversial to like anything Russian? Lol ok.
We have the same taste in movies. I wonder if we could go out. 😢
Why is it controversial to say she enjoys a Soviet film?
Six hour Siberian film with oil drilling. Riiiight.
Her profile is empty
Why is it controversial for her to love Siberia?
Weyes Blood and Father John Misty.
Enough said.
that last one…oof 😬
