This is why I tell my step kids that their parents divorce is not the norm. Most divorced parents still speak for the sake of the kids. My husband's ex has not spoken to him in over 10 years. She ignores him in front of the kids. I tell the kids you are still a family. Their marriage is separate from your parents. They are your parents no matter what. It breaks me heart to see the kids learning to ignore people rather than being kind. What's weird about the whole thing is she was cheating and walked out. My husband doesn't hold a grudge either. She left while he was on a business trip. She told him it is over and she would leave the kids with a friend so he get them when he came back. He asked her to stay long enough for him to get home and wouldn't force her to stay. No arguing. He walked in the door and she walked out. I feel for the kids. I met him 4 years after she left. She doesn't speak to me. I am a stranger. I have been here now 7 years.
