- Traveling to Suriname, one of the smallest and northernmost countries in South America. Spent the day exploring the city of Paramaribo, eating market food, searching for Sloths and drinking lots of Parbo beer!

Hi, guys. Glad you came to visit my country.
The "abandoned ship" in your video is one of the old ferries we used to take to cross over to Commewijne (one of our districts). These ferries went out of service in the late 90's /early 2000's after the Wijdenbosch bridge was built.
And the boys with the slingshots weren't hunting for sloths, but rather for iguanas.
They usually sell them, because it's something some people eat (in here they call them 'boomkip', which means 'tree chicken').

The fish we call 'bang bang' is a snapper, it's the grey snapper.
I just got back from there a year ago myself. I loved it so much I planned to buy a house there at some point. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did

I'm just watching this and Suriname is an amazing country only thing that sucks about it is the corrupt politicians. The country has lots of potential, but the corruption ruins it. There's a saying "everything can happen in this country" and it's true lol. murderer becomes president which happened, but if you look past the corrupt government it's a really chill and peaceful country. I still remember there's a law that's states if you disrespect the President you can go to prison democracy right lmao ❤🇸🇷

So, is it a good cheap place to get retired? How is the cost of living? is it safe to live? any nightlife? etc?
We met a retired guy from the US living there with his wife. Said everything is extremely cheap. Built is own house and had his nice truck shipped there. As far as night life, it’s about as much as u can expect from a semi-unheard of jungle city lol some nice bars, restaurants and casinos.

Honestly it’s well worth leaving the US to retire. Your money will go about 5 times farther.
I’m curious to know how you found out about Surinam?Also be careful because times are hard over there right now and the crime rate is high. Trust no one!! I’m from there I know. Some sketchy folks like these dudes that you saw.. they will try to rob you so please be careful.

14:36 The religious building next to the mosque is not Christian but Jewish (a synagogue). Be careful about showing your cash. Crime at the moment is pretty high due to the bad economy (high inflation).
A lot of different cultures and religions, it’s pretty wild to experience. We haven’t had any issues luckily.

Crime? O ja zeker, ben je vergeten wie de staatsgreep heeft gepleegd en wie instructies hiertoe heeft gegeven. Geef ook adviezen inzake crime als deze lui naar bijv. jamaica zouden reizen. In 2010 en 2015 kiezen voor een MOORDENAAR met stijgende criminaliteit en devaluaties van eigen muntsoort als gevolg van OERDOMME keuzes, maar toch blijven vingerwijzen en DOLgraag vuile zelfveroorzaakte was buitenhangen. KUTVOLK!!!!!!!!!!
